I love this game.

But I play it to avoid political issues, escape reality for a bit, imagine that I am a lion in charge of my own pride, not to become more involved with political issues, especially if I am presented with something I don't agree with politically.

Killing damn poachers is fine, very few people will side with a poacher, but not so sure about my lion being upset with farmers clearing their land. There are many starving people in Africa. Children die every day. This, on a continent with more unused arable land than anywhere else in tbe world. Farming in Africa fights rampant starvation there. Showing the humans burning in the dry season is inaccurate anyway, and implies that all the fires in tbe game are caused by humans. As we all are aware, most are not.

I think at the very least my lion should have the opportunity to say "Hmph...humans have to eat too."

I haven't seen the other environmental encounters, but I hope that they aren't as preachy and virtue signalling as the one with humans clearing for crops. Such things bring real-life issues into an otherwise fantastic and wonderful game that many of us play as a break from reality.

Thank you guys!

I don't believe the event is pushing it too far, honestly, I think its fine and I have no trouble separating the fictional death from actual death. But, then, thats my opinion The game also gives the option to not do anything in regards to the people, too, its not like it forces you to fight or kill.

The game does acknowledge that there are humans that are trying to help out, but is giving other players the option to well smite them. It's all fine and dandy when you leave the humans alone, because in this event, I believe like, most of the humans are trying to help in some way. It is up to the individual player if they want to well be good or just smite them.

My question: what wouldn't be too far to you? Because, for this event, there's not another readily-available mechanic for opening up the (conveniently named!) Savages. To change this mechanic for the minority who want it changed would involve a rehash of the encounters, which could end up changing the storyline of the event as a whole.

I personally think if we were allied with the humans 100% of the time would be too unrealistic. For behavior of a wild animal.

Animals will attack if desperate, and thats what is being simulated here.
I can't even imagine lions getting along with humans when both sides are suffering the affects of the drought.

I didn't read the whole thread but you could just,, you know- use the hide all event activity if you don't like it that much?? Yeah, you can't really avoid the non-event ones but at least this will help without impacting the game too much

The game does acknowledge, and a LOT, that there are humans trying to help.
There is an encounter with people scounting for water, that you can be friendly with. and they will just take pictures of your lion, everyone's friendly and happy.
There is an encounter of scientists working with a cheetah, that you can just observe. and they will leave you a present, and everyone's friendly and happy.
There is an encounter with a farmer, where you can just mark the land around their farm as dangerous, and everyone is friendly and happy.

Just because there's 1-2 encounters, that you personally dont feel give human being enough credit, that doesnt mean it needs to be changed... you can always just scroll past any encounter. Well people burn savannah for a farm, if you're fine with it - just press Explore again, walk past, ignore them, let them do their stuff.

There are lots of other encounters on Lioden, and NONE of them promotes any violence. Just because you see a hyena pack being agressive, doesnt mean you need to grab a gun and go shoot hyenas. Just because you see an encounter of a serval in a trap, doesnt mean you need to go finish off any servals stuck in the traps. It is a GAME. Nothing that happens here, can nor should be moved onto real life.

You’re an endangered, highly misunderstood apex predator in this game, and one who constantly suffers from overhunting and habitat loss at that. Of course environmentalism is important to you. That’s like getting mad at Wolfenstein’s anti-N*zi propaganda when the game is literally all about killing N*zis.

I honestly don't see how environmentalism is 'too preachy' or 'too political'. Lioden may be a game, but it does portray many real life issues, and pollution/negative human impact certainly is a big one. Games are a great way to spread awareness of issues. (For goodness sake, we have an entire event dedicated to the issue of poaching) As others have pointed out, it doesn't paint all people in a bad light as we can see many 'good' people in the game such as the ones fighting poaching/fires/helping animals as well as people doing harmful actions. The bare truth is that human impact is a highly prevalent issue that should be pointed out and acknowledged as an issue. It only really shames people who don't care about the environment and treat animals badly, and frankly, they should be shamed. If a farmer is dumb/ignorant/arrogant enough to start a large uncontrolled fire in the middle of the dry season, they should be shamed. If someone just dumps their litter out in the environment, they should be shamed. Again, it's been stated before, but the game doesn't force you to be violent against humans, as you can just as easily preform the 'kind' act that explore gives.

Lioden may not be the most realistic, but it shouldn't just be a perfect pretend world in which nothing is wrong. It portrays nature, and frankly, humans have a huge impact on nature. It may be a game, but to pretend that these issues don't exist and paint a world where humans don't touch the environment is something arrogant and a complete missed opportunity.

No support-- while I get your point, a lion really wouldn't care about the reason why a human is trespassing on its territory. If the lion happens to be hungry, there goes the human. It sucks but a lion saying 'humans need to eat too' isn't realistic, especially since the point of the anti-poaching event is to raise awareness about the impacts of humans on African wildlife.

No support. I don't see it as a political issue, it's a legitimate world issue. Also, site is 16+, which is old enough to differentiate and handle pressing issues.
