“Oh, it’s alright,” Charlotte assured the rabbit, nervously fidgeting with the hem of her apron. The woman had been a little short earlier, but amidst all of the drama surrounding Pi being out in public, Lotte couldn’t blame her. When Mindy brought up the cupcakes, she glanced at the display case under the counter, recalling the special on cupcakes they’d implemented today, just for the festival. She smiled. “Of course.”

With that, she dipped behind the counter and quickly arranged a box for a chocolate cupcake.

She frowned a bit upon hearing Hanson taking a grouchy tone with Mindy. From the way he talked, it seemed the two had run into each other earlier, and Pi had been there... unless there was another boy Hanson was talking about. Then he asked where “the boy” was and suggested Mindy had just left him, causing Lotte to furrow her brows. She hadn’t even thought about the fact that Mindy was alone; had they lost Pi?!

‘Red velvet?!’

The shock from hearing his voice made the doe lightly jump and hit her head under the counter. Ah. There he was.

She bounced up with Mindy’s order in hand, eyes darting to and from the rabbit, Pi, Hanson, and Milo, who’s entrance initially brought her some relief, but the feeling quickly dissipated as he took a seat next to Hanson and started chatting with him like they were old friends. Did he... not know? The doe bit her lip. Great, and now she couldn’t call him.

Well... at least Hanson wasn’t trying anything... for now. She quickly flitted her gaze back to Mindy with a small smile. “Here...” As the group started chatting, she tried to give Mindy an urgent look, gaze darting back between her and Hanson, but she knew a look could only communicate so much.

“I don’t think I’d get in trouble. You seemed to think that you can boss that poor rabbit around.” Milo stood up. “I can always make it look like he were causing trouble...” he wasn’t the type of person to boss around. He was usually so easy going but wouldn’t mind threatening anybody. He did it for years so it was an old habit

Kisha was giving Milo a look, "Dont talk to a 16 year old whos been through quiet a lot today and needs comfort like that…" Pi had crossed his arms, why did everyone treat him like a child he could boss aaround. "Im just gonna sit outside" the feline sat outside as he let people stare and take pictures and videos with him

Milo glared at her. “He’s an entitled little shit that I’m not going to let treat me like I’m nothing. I’ve dealed with it for years and I’m done with it!” His fur stood up as he growled. “He shouldn’t be treating the person who’s supposed to care for him like that. Maybe we should just through him to the streets and make him survive that way!”

Mindy found it relieving to see the officer with Pi, but guilt also set in. She had abandoned him like a lost child for the police to find. She never wanted to that to her friend. She frowned abit, but at Milo's command for Pi to stop being rude she smiled slightly. Her blue eyes widened in satisfaction.

She heard the sound of a small dull thud, her ears swiveled to the counter and she looked at the doe. Oh her! The nice girl! When she noticed her panicked face, Mindy's heart skipped a beat. Charlotte's eyes kept darting towards the feline. Hanson. Why was Charlotte- Wait. Mindy flinched at the ralization. She had noticed too. Mindy wasn't the only one! But how? Surely the baker had noticed something right? Maybe he said something she had missed!

Mindy cocked her head to a table in the far corner. They would probably not be overheard there if they spoke quietly.

``Thanks!`` She gave the doe a small smile before padding over to the table.

That baker knew something. What was it?

Charlotte caught on to Mindy’s gesture and glanced yet again at Hanson, hoping he hadn’t. She waited until the rabbit sat down, then pretended to have a realization and grabbed some napkins. “Oh, I forgot to give you these!”

As she stepped around the corner and walked over the Mindy, trying to seem as inconspicuous as possible, she debated whether or not she should even get involved... but Pi seemed like a good, if naive, person, and she didn’t know what those rebels wanted to do... they might want to free him, they might want to hurt him. She just wanted everyone to be safe...

When she got to Mindy and bent over to hand her the napkins, she quickly whispered, “He and a hawk woman want to get Pi at the festival.” That was all she could get in without making it clear she was whispering. It was also all she knew, really. Afterwards, she straightened up, smiled politely, then trotted back to the counter. On her way back, she noticed Pi outside and remembered he was hungry, so she put together a quick box of various things for him, when or if he came back inside. If he didn’t, she’d just pass it to Mindy or Milo.

Fear filled the leipard's eyes, he wouldn't?! "I-I was just trying to defend him! It's part of our job…" her words were lost in his throat. Her blue irises scanned around for any escape but it seemed there was none. "P-pease d-dont hurt me…" Tears stained her eyes, they stung slightly as they ran down her cheeks.

Milo was trying to fight his instinct to kill her. He licked his jaws as his eyes turned feral. He lowered his teeth to where they lightly touched her skin. He suddenly stopped. He stood there frozen for a while. His breathing was ragged. He seemed more normal now. He jerked away quickly. He was terrified of himself

Milo crouched down and covered his head. His jaws dripped frothy spit onto the floor. “Just give me a few minutes.” He rasped as he spoke. He closed his eyes and began to wheeze. His white fur spot got ruffled revealing a number tattooed on his skin
