Basically the idea is that a lioness that is pregnant can at random give birth early. Giving birth early can result in a cub being smaller then it normally would be, leaving it more valuable. But the cub would be able to survive to adulthood. In adulthood the now grown lion would be smaller then the normal lions.

The lioness giving birth early would happen at random at a rollover.

Edit: by smaller then normal, I don't mean like a dwarf lioness. I mean like..... Think about how the average height is around 5'8 but people tend to be petite, I hope that makes sense lol

Support, sometimes litters are born earlier or later than expected, that's realism.

This also makes sense because not every pregnancy results in the baby being born right on expected time

kinda confused. would there be like special line art or something for that cub? if not then what would be that cubs purpose. Cause if it doesnt have special lineart I dont see why it would be added personally.

No support from me for a few reasons...

1) Having a lion be born "smaller" but not dwarfism isn't really a mutation and seems unnecessary.

2) What if you don't nest right away? It seems really unnecessary to just have a chance to accidentally lose a litter.

3) Art/coding I already see a lot of issues with..

Honestly, the more I think about this, the more hassle it'd be. Besides, imagine losing a litter because your net went out all day or something else beyond your control that prevented nesting. Thought you had time? Nope. I also don't nest my girls who hunt until last day so they can keep gaining stats and working.

I'd probably add a caveat that this event couldn't happen unless the lioness is nested and well she's relaxed enough for labor to come early or later. now that I think about it any changes to anything besides the birth date of the cub might be a bit much. Artwork is well a lot of work coding based on everyone I've ever talked to is relatively easy compared to artwork or animation. (I talk to zoo tycoon modders before you ask who I've been talking to not entirely the same but it's a general rule as they figure it. it took ten minutes for them to extend the lifespan of a decorative koi item that was already in the game. trying to teach me how to do it at the time but I am no code monkey. But even adding new animations or making a new animal can take weeks to months. with the quality of the artwork here just the shading alone could take days to get right)

I am not supporting because of the IRL issues/trauma this could cause. A lot of Lioden's player base are adults, and that means there's a good chance a lot of people have experienced pregnancies, and 1 in 5 are lost to miscarriage, and 8% of babies are born prematurely, and that can come with a whole host of health issues. Then to imply it was caused because someone had/hadn't done something? That can be a lot of trauma for some players.

I know a few of my friends were preemies, and this would make them so disheartened for the fight they had to go through just to live (steroids, incubators, even surgeries in some cases, born with skin like glass) had been cheapened by someone wanting what is essentially a non-dwarfism dwarf.

it makes no sense unfortuantely if they can grow to adulthood and there isnt anything special. If it was lethal then It would have to have unique linear. No support because of this, unless the idea becomes more fleshed out

Runt of the litter /premature babies happen in real life all the time, but generally if they survive they tend to be around the same size as normal adults if a little small.
I don't think there's enough there to work with art wise though.

like I said if she's nested and relaxed she might pop out healthy cubs a day early. perfectly healthy babies come before or after their due date all the time. I'd treat it like you got a random ibf use. just a bit of a surprise. we could hear she found an ibf floating into her nest and used it herself. people joke about their kid coming out fine but before their due date all the time and ruining plans. when I heard this thing on the name of the post, that's basically what I thought as it just delightful surprise nothing more

So what would that bring? If hey grow normally, and ther eis no special lines what is the point? It makes no sense to add something like that unfotuantely. If they dont have special lines or special mechanics then I dont see a point in adding them to the game.

just a delightful surprise basically tbh maybe even make it a funny event... like your king comes to check on her (I have a habit of checking on my pregnant lionesses and grooming them just feels like the right thing to do.) and he's surprised to find she's just given birth and insert a joke about cubs coming when they want not when you expect.

No support from me. To me it's completely pointless. You can just have it be a flavored text in that case. No need for a Mutation.

you're right my idea would be better off as a random event and some flavor text... I kinda hijacked it mb

Support for me, people are born at different times, sometimes they are born prematurity, sometimes they are born a few days, months, or even years after the expected due date.
Some people nest their lioness. Maybe The ultrasound bat could sense a possible premature birth and try to predict how many rollovers you'd need before you need to nest her. Maybe Premature cubs don't instantly die when they are born if the lioness wasn't nested before birth.
