What is Repping?
This guide is made by and for The Lioden Conservatory, and is made public to help others! This guide is new player friendly, and is written with you guys in mind, though it does assume you played through the tutorial. I recommend fully reading this guide rather than skimming.

If you're active in main chat, you've probably heard users talking about mut repping their kings. And, well, it probably confused you. You've also probably seen users with super fancy kings, with mutations and short heritage and everything, and you're wondering how in the hell they bred that. Well, they probably didn't. 'Repping' is short for replacing, and is used as slang when users plan on keeping their current king's looks, but kinging a new heir.
There's three types of repping you'll hear about, though they're all the same process. Let's break down the three most popular types of repping.

Mutation Replacing (Mut/Mutie/Mute Repping) is used when a user is primarily interested in giving their king a mutation. It can be any mutation, but is most commonly Piebalds, Patches, or Primals. This is often done to make a king more 'attractive' for studding, and is the most common form of king repping.

Heritage Replacing (Heritage Repping) is used when a user is primarily interested in making their king's heritage short. This is often used after long breeding projects, where the lion originally kinged is inbred. Groupies (heritageless males obtained through the May Event) are usually used for this, and it may be done in combination with mut repping.

Stat Replacing (Stat Repping) is used when a user is primarily interested in making their kings stats higher. This is the rarest form of king repping as most players just don't care about stats that much, due to their limited impact on the game. Stat Reps are usually inbred, or at the very least, usually have a long heritage, and only appeal to a small niche of the Lioden player base.

No matter which form of repping you choose, your king will always have your heir's stats, mutation, and heritage.
This is why there even are different types of repping, as you have to choose what you want to focus on the most, as no matter what you pick, the other two options will come with your heir. Your king will also have your heir's personality, as well, though this can be fixed by a quick visit to the personality snake if you want a specific personality on your king.

Now that we explained what repping is and why it's used, how do you do it? Well, that's pretty simple. You're going to go to the retirement page, and let's take a look at it:

First, we're going to select our heir by opening the dropdown. You can click any male lion for this, but I just chose one of the random Cubs in my territory since I'm not actually retiring for the purposes of this guide. Make sure you do not select the 'Roll a New King' heir option, as it'll reroll your current king and his appearance will be lost forever if you just blindly click through.

Now that you have your cub selected, you'll see a brand new option, where it says 'Select Appearance Option'. Let's open it!

Since we're repping our king, you're going to select the item in it that says "Keep Witchwood's Appearance (current retiring king)", which, for you, will say whatever your king's name is! From there, you'll go about your business and change your king's name if you want, click any checkboxes you need to, and then press the retire your lion button!

And there you have it! That's how repping your king works. If you have any questions, please feel free to reply to this thread and they'll be answered, either by myself or other helpful users.

Thank you so much! I was so confused regarding how males get such high stats at gen 1, and this really explained it!

I have a stupid question… If my king is a mutie than of I’ll choose to replace his heritage - will his mutation stay? For example, I’ll king a felis and then rep his with a groupie for the unknown heritage. Will this work?

No, the mutation will not stay. As stated in the guide, "No matter which form of repping you choose, your king will always have your heir's stats, mutation, and heritage."
