We went back to square one - we'd like to get your feedback on a new design that we've created, heavily inspired by the current layout - just spruced up a bit, and modernized to use more current web technology! Some Notes: * This is not the final iteration of the layout, it's a preview build - there may be minor issues that will be fixed, or things that we rearrange. Please don't worry about bug reporting or making suggestions for repositioning at this point - we're looking for feedback about how the layout as a whole feels to you! * This layout should be fully mobile responsive, including the lion images and their layers * We are about 99% of the way with color contrast accessibility, and the new accent colors (buttons, progress bars [hunger, energy, etc]) should be colorblind friendly. * Alerts can cause a problem due to very similar brightnesses so icons have been added to alerts to counteract any bad interactions with colorblindness. * Layout Preview Settings: At the bottom of the page there are two options for layout settings. * Text can be resized to your preference within a range. The current default text size (90%) is the most similar to Lioden's current text size. 100% will be the new default when this layout launches, but we will automatically set everyone who is a member at the time to 90% so it's less of a harsh adjustment right away. The plan is that when the layout is implemented, this will be a setting on your account that you can change at will. * The site's theme can be changed to the game's existing layout themes (Day/Default, Night and Desert) and there is a new Dark theme. We are still tweaking Dark theme, and it's important to note that Night and Desert are lower contrast themes and may cause accessibility issues. Preview a Lion Page View the Theme Elements Page Bonus: Landing Page (Xylax is unhappy about the age of the art we've used, it will be updated ;D) Please give any and all feedback within this topic! the current layout is organized and efficient. this new layout is more jumbled, and i can't see the hunger % of the lion. it's important IMHO to keep those % there for those of us who feed our extra large prides on every 2nd or 3rd day. i see more lions running without this. thank you for all your hard work it is appreciated by this gamer XO 13 players like this post! I understand that the new layout is targeted as "mobile friendly," however as a mobile user I cannot help but feel like it's .. very cluttered. there is too much going on for both colors and placement, being too busy and hyper-centered, which is difficult to process visually. Not to mention the amount of scrolling is going to be doubled, which is just annoying on its own. The added features are a nice touch, along with a new theme colors such as 'dark,' though I really think having a layout similar to the current one would not only be easier to navigate but also for visual appeal. 8 players like this post! Liking, though not caring for the landing page quite yet. It's almost like it's too long? One thing that I'd want on the Lion Page is to see who their parents are, like we can now. It makes it super easy to check the sire instead of having to go into the heritage to go find it. Instead, it's right there. Very handy! 5 players like this post! Like? |

I also think that it is extremely beginner inaccessible. Too much going on, too much information, too much all at once. Why is the add marking slot SO FAR from the markings? The lack of preview button for the HTML I think is actually harmful, as you don't get snapped up above where it is, and the act of scrolling is. . . clunky and annoying. You made all of the text bigger, but then this all tiny and small?  The dark mode is nice. It just feels like everything is too cramped in, like you're afraid of taking page space. And I think that's actually harmful. The tables for Appearance, Marking and Mutation all make it separate. What we have is perfect IMO, it tells you that this is the how the lion looks, and it is easy to read.  If you could somehow make it look more like this, and not seperate everything, I think it'd be way easier on the eyes. 8 players like this post! Like? |

I love it! It is a lot easier to read and is more organized. The current layout seems smashed together. Also, I really like the equipped decors part. Actually showing the decors is a lot nicer than just a list. Sometimes I remove the wrong decor and then get upset because I lost a use for no reason. This could easily help with that! Sadly the lion page is all over the place  I wanted to like it but the layout just doesn't make sense. Also, what is the find stud button? Does it just take you straight to search? I don't really see how it will be helpful, it seems unnecessary to me.The only thing I really like is the equipped decoration section, I like that it shows the pictures of the decors used and how many uses they have left. Other than that, I vote for keeping the current lion page look. 9 players like this post! Like? |

Way too cluttered, too much going on and way to big. The lion page in particular I like to be able to see all my lion info easily and together. Not have to scroll down lodes and in the case of markings not be able to see them all at once. 8 players like this post! Like? |

a big reason that i dont play wolvden is because the layout is too confusing and liodens current layout was much easier to understand and navigate. the only tweaks that i really enjoyed though was the icons for the decor that is used on the lion. that would be very helpful to see. 5 players like this post! While I appreciate the direction the site is going in, I have a few problems with the new layout. But first I’ll discuss the positives: The UI is clean, sleek, and easy to understand. I love the new landing page layout featuring the Lioden art. Art has always been an important aspect of the game for me. I appreciate the community of artists we have here and many of us take inspiration from Lioden’s art style! I welcome the idea of a dark mode. And now here are the few drawbacks I’ve noticed: The font for the navigation tabs is generic and lacks personality. In terms of the UI specifically for the main male’s needs, it looks a bit cluttered. All the different colors made it harder at a glance to analyze it and it’s a bit tough on the eyes. This could just be my personal issue though, being that I have vision problems and prefer darker, less saturated color palettes. I like the uniformity of colors in Lioden’s current UI, but I’m not opposed to a modernization update to reduce the site clutter, excess text/infodumping on some screens, and to give this website some more pizzazz. A possible solution to this dilemma: Give players an option to choose between seeing the old and new Lioden style. I know from experiencing that coding, especially in relation to games; is difficult. However, I think this selection could be added to the profile settings. That way, development wouldn’t have to add a brand new section for it; using the same layout coding that already exists when choosing between Day/Night/Desert themes. It would cut off valuable time that could be spent tweaking other areas of the game, while working to simultaneously accommodate the playerbase. The lean into a more friendly and game-ified layout would be an adjustment, for sure, but I would be willing to make it. A few things I've noticed are that: - There's going to be a lot more scrolling, which is kind of what you sign up for on Lioden, but if every page is formatted like the Den page, I'd be expecting a looot more scrolling, which seems a little more clunky - I, personally, like the middle ground between minimalism and maximalism in the design - it feels really in character for the site, but I think on the lion page specifically, the colors used can be overwhelming in places like the Actions menu and the navigation bar -I LOVE the integration of more item icons in the layout, I think it makes the game look way more alive :) Sometimes on Lioden it feels like a game more about the menus and statistics than the art, so I love the steps taken here to mitigate that feeling :) Those are the few things I've noticed! I know a lot of people on the site just don't want things to change, and I feel that way too (the site just feels more comfortable in a way the mockups can't really give me,) but Ithink this is a step in the right direction! The Layout- I super super HATE it. PLEASE don't. I have not played Lioden as long as others so I cannot speak on sentimental value or comfortability of the current layout. It's really just don't fix something that's not broken. First of all, the heritage should show parents like it currently does. It's a pain to have to click into just to see if the lionesses is your king's cub. Former prides should also stay where it currently is. It makes 0 sense to have it near cubs bred and heritage. I do love the decor equipper though just not the location of the actual equipper button. The roles should be all in one line rather than the row you have it in. It really just seems like you're trying to make the page longer. It really just looks SO generic and like every shitty low budget mobile app out there. No comments on the theme elements other than it looks like.. confusing is the best way I can put it. The Landing Page- Actually perfect except the sign up button looks too big for the text it holds ----------------------------- So, as a whole, it feels extremely cluttered, too separate, and way too generic. Oof, the new layout honestly looks MORE dated- the rounded buttons/borders, the super-bright buttons? It looks almost childish, to be honest. I've always liked the clean-edge, square-based layout, since it's polished and (less) cluttered than some other sites. This just looks like an absolute mishmash- as others have said, Lioden can already be overwhelming for new players, this really doesn't help. The current minimalism WORKS. Overall, the aesthetic feels overly-busy, messy, and the rounded-edge style just doesn't work well. I don't think the layout needs to change, at all. *Editing to add- this looks overtly mobile-styled, which also feels markedly clunky. Also, will this revoke the colour balances of Night/Desert mode? *Edit #2- Upon further thought, I STRONGLY dislike the scrollbar implemented for the marking list- currently, the box is large enough to fit everything, and it should stay that way. In truth, the entirety of the current lion page format is extremely easy to understand. On top of that, the font isn't too large, so nothing is ever cut off. Knowing all of this- why does the change need to be done? There isn't any issue. The inlay king portrait adds clutter, and is entirely unnecessary. I understand it's an element that has been implemented on Wolvden, but on there it's just as clutter-causing. There is literally no need for it. Going back to the lion page view, In terms of formatting, WHY are the lion information boxes so much wider than the lion image? It shrinks down the lion, while flooding your eyes with too much information- the current symmetry isn't overwhelming. Sure, the info boxes are slightly wider, but not enough to where it creates such a visible difference. Also- will these boxes be stacked like they're shown? Because if that's the case, I can't really make heads or tails of it. It's incredibly confusing to look at. As an example, I do not think that the Appearance & Markings boxes should be split apart. im sorry, but it's frankly ugly. the screen feels extremely cramped and crowded, i like being able to see more of the background w the main site being smaller. having it so "full screen" feels like im just wayy too close. i dislike how the heat + items text above the lioness isn't centered. i also dislike the drop down menu for markings, and generally how it doesnt utilize the space well. the current one uses up the space better in that all of the lion details are grouped together in it's own section & it evenly distributes it. Overall it just doesnt feel very... lioden.. Not to mention the elephant in the room, considering how dated a lot of the art in this game is (mainly the lions themselves), this new, modern, and "hip" design doesn't match the old art at all. I really hope that with these layout changes, you'd at least give CSS makers more control (css for each lion page, css for the rest of the site and not JUST your own den page, etc) overall, not a fan so far. 7 players like this post!
