Edward 🐻

"Leave him alone or ill kill him. Not just him but his whole pride. Every cub every lioness. Every drop of blood will be because of your selfishness. Be a man and give up this childish bullshit behavior. You dont love him."

The old kings words struck deep into Edwards heart. His soul felt like he was actively ripping it apart.

"But father. We can.."

The old king let out a roar. The sands around them shifted violently as of the king could control the wind and shifting sands that made up most of their pridelands.

"They control the water. They make us live in this god damn forsaked litter box. They are the enemy and you just want to play house with them. Make them a family?"

Edward froze. His fathers voice was dripping in malice and sarcasm. "They dont care about us Ed. They didnt help us when the waters failed last dry season and the herds vanished. When our cubs starved. They didnt CARE!" He roared the last word.

Edward noded. He knew there would be no reasoning with his father. His father had found out about him and Antares by following him to the rivers edge to meet the other young prince. They had been meeting since they were cubs always sharing secrets and eventually their hearts and souls. Edward had truly thought that one day they would make their prides one.

"Tomorrow. You will meet that pathetic excuse for a king and you will rip his heart out. If you dont...i will do it in front of you."

Edward nodded. "Yes father. Ill do as you wish." Edward stood as he walked his head hung low. He stepped perfectly in his fathers footsteps all the way to the rocky cliffs where the pride made their dens. He headed to his cave on a high ledge and ignored his sisters calling to him to come play. He just had to be alone.

"I never loved you"...Edward sits staring at the stars. The sky moonless and dark as the stars shine calling to the soul of his father. Edward sits at the top of the cliffs staring down to where the lionesses groom the old king one final time. They murmur memories about their fallen father protector king.

Fallen. Edward thinks about the word. How he pushed his father when they were hunting how the old king fell from a cliff....and how easy it was to tell everyone he slipped. Edward sat straighter as the sun set in front of him turning his orange fur firey. He flexed his claws and let out a roar that echoed around the canyon.

The sun will set on his fathers time as king. And come sunrise....it will be his turn. Edward looked down at the lionesses again. His sisters and mother seemed the most greived by the death of the old king. In the sea of orange and colors there were few lionesses that stood out. A dark splotch here. A lighter coat there. Nothing like deep blues and purples that made up Antares' pride.

His father had chosen his queen. Edward looked for her and saw her sitting with one of the submales. His eyes narrowed. She was sitting perhaps to close. He watched her before looking away in disgust.

He stared up at the dark sky as clouds gathered.

"I need my moon."
