Pride Lore:

Long ago, far away, lions roamed as one large group. But an apocalypse broke out, separating many families into what we now call prides. This event caused the death of many, including the loss of every cub under 12 moons old. Except one. This young male cub dashed away from home, taking the name Great Ancestor when he began a pride, secluded from the outer world to protect those he ruled. A massive tree grew in the valley, providing the perfect home. It is said he was born from the past, brought to life by the will to guard those he could, and that he has no parents or relatives. He rescued two lioness from outside, bringing them home safely. His pride continues to live to this day, leading a peaceful life. Some say his pride is more adapted than any, having the coordination and skills of an advanced civilization, even building structures around the tree and valley. There have even been stories of being attacked by eagles if you approach the ancient tree, most likely commanded by guardians.
