I've had a few new item ideas floating around in my head for a while, so I thought I'd finally write them up. I'm not completely certain on what the actual item would be for all of them, and how it would tie into the effect, but I'll be updating as I do research and come up with links between items and their effects.

I'll also be updating when I come up with more ideas. Feedback totally welcome!

Umber Gnawrock - Event Item - 1 use

Gives a higher chance of passing the coat of the lion this item was fed to.

Umber is a natural brown or reddish-brown earth pigment. The name is based on the Ochre item already in-game. However, unlike the Ochre item, this would only give a boosted percentage of a base passing, rather than a guarantee to help keep hard-to-pass bases more rare.

My suggested boost formula is 1 1/2 to 2 times greater than the normal pass rate, though it's really up to staff to decide specifics.

Adult Sex Changer - Oasis (5 GB?) - 1 use

This item will allow you to sex change an adult as long as it has never been hunted, bred, or patrolled. Not eligible for use on lions without heritage.(Possible age limit of 3-5 years?)

I don't see this item being extremely widely used, but I doubt I'm the only person that's ever forgotten to sex-change a cub. That being said, measures are there to prevent possible abuse for stats. I'm not sure if something like this can be coded, however, so I understand if this idea isn't possible to safely implement.

Cotton Root Bark - Oasis (1 GB) - 1 use

This herb is eaten by lionesses when they don't wish to have their cubs, and induces a miscarriage.

This item will allow you to induce a miscarriage to your lioness if she was bred to the wrong male, she is able to be bred again in 1-3 days. Additionally, this lioness will have a slightly increased chance of producing a mutation (stacks with fertility percentage, but less effective than lion meat), and a heightened chance of this mutation being lethal.

War Paint (Various Colors) - Event - 1/ 5 use (?)

This colorful paint has boosted your lion's confidence, and given him a 5%/10% (?) boost in stat when battling!

This colorful paint has boosted your lionesses confidence, and she will be more likely to do well in hunts!

Various colors would represent the stat the lion got the boost in, or just a variation for females.

For males, this would only affect battles in explore, and have no effect in PvP. Still developing this idea to prevent it being too overpowered/advantageous. I'm thinking either reduced EXP gain/time limit on use (1 week/month?), or both. This would primarily only have use for people with lower-levelled lionesses and rolled lions. Only one decor of this nature can be used at a time (including the animal companion decor, either one or the other)

It would be possible to 'disable' the effect of the decor, and just use the appearance, if so wished by the user, and in that case, the decor would last on the lion as long as it's not removed.

I've been contemplating decor that has an actual effect on the lion for a long while, and this is one of the few ideas that I like, so far. Needs balancing, however.

Animal Companion - Event - 1 use (?)(Suggested by SnowyCat (#40791) )

This affectionate young animal seems to have taken a liking to your lion! It will help out in battles by teaching your lion their strengths!

This is essentially a different version of the warpaint item, albeit a little less realistic. Different animals represent different stats, cheetah - speed, AWD - agility, etc. For balancing purposes, it would either be a tiny boost, or the animal will grow up and leave your lion, effectively giving it a time limit; a small EXP gain decrease is definitely something to consider, as well. This decor wouldn't be able to be unequipped until the time limit runs out (if it has one), and only one companion decor of this nature would be able to be used once at a time.

This item would also have the option of having its effect disabled, and simply used as a decor (Or an alternate version of this with 5-10 uses that's simply a decor? c: )

Daphne - Event (?) - 5 use

This plant smells funny... it's berries are deadly! Rolling in it's flowers deters pesky females! Lasts time - HYENA BUTTER IS IN - XY

Name is based on a poisonous flower found in North Africa, a bit of a polar opposite to the Leopard Orchid!

Daphne makes it less likely to run into NCLs in explore. This would mainly be advantageous for collecting event currency, hence I feel it should be less common if implemented. Looking into curse-type objects to use as an item, suggestions welcome!

Elephant Poop - Event (?) - 5 use

Yay, poop! The smell is not only nice, but rolling it will also mask your predatory scent, making it less likely for you to be confronted in explore! Lasts time

Based on the fact that elephant poop is like catnip to lions, however, they also may roll on it before hunts to avoid scaring off their prey with their smell c:

Similar to Daphne in function.

Falcon's eye / Third eye - Oasis (5 GB (?)) - 1 use

This item gives your male the eyes of a falcon / a special sense for time, allowing him to detect an adult mutation on a cub.

This item would simply let you see what cubs have adult mutations, but not which mutation they have!

To be decided - Event - 1 use - LION SCROTUM IS IN - XY

Eugh... this lion feels slightly unwell after eating this herb...

Gives a mutated lion a chance (?%) to pass on its mutation to a cub. However, a male lion may get a female adult mutation, and vice versa, so beware! c:

Glossy Starling Feather - Event - 1 use

A feather from this gorgeous bird will help your lion impress!

Another decor-is-useful idea. The feather would give a slight boost in impression gain while equipped and would last time

Marking Color Picker - Oasis / Monkey Shop (2 GB / 1.8k SB) - 1 use

Allows you to change the color of one oasis making on a lion.

Pretty simple, marking color changer for oasis markings to preserve slot rarity of special/event markings ^^ Possible alternate version for events that could affect other marking types?

- Incredibly hard to code it right now as markings are not related to each other at this stage of the game - Xy

Shiny Precious (open to name suggestions) - Event

Ooooh, shiny! This thing.... you don't know what it is, but something about it makes you really reluctant to let it out of your sight. Others seem to take interest in it, too... keep the precious safe!

This item would increase enemy encounter rate in explore by x % for y duration.

This suggestion has 231 supports and 0 NO supports.

Ah, I thought about an item for passing bases and markings as well! I'm very glad to see a well thought out suggestion elaborating on said item. I really like the idea of the Gnawrocks as introduced in a previous event, but a lot of users who'd benefit and pay for items like that may have missed out on those, or not had the chance to save up for the items in time!

I would like Oasis items that either guaranteed passes but were quite pricey, and/or items that boosted the pass rate and were a little less pricey, while still a few GB to prevent overuse and overabundance of special bases all over again. Mostly having small boost only items would prevent the value of larger boost items, like GMO cows, from going down too much in value, I think?

Many of the items featured in certain events would prove useful to breeders, especially if available consistently in Oasis so one could plan safely. For example, GMO cows, lion meat, the gnawrocks, ect. helped quite a lot. Maybe an oasis item for mutations with a much smaller chance than lion meat, like the Cotton Bark could be created, without the mortality boost and miscarriage? Random/specific special base chance applicators might work as well, either with an option to choose which base[s] to chance at, or chance for a random one. That might cause trouble in terms of newer, more valuable bases. There could be a time limit before newer bases are added to the list though. Such an item might lower the value of items like the Infernal, Blush Rose, and Hallowed base applicators, though.

I also think the companion decors are a bit too much. I'd prefer the paints as decor only, though I do like the idea of boosting certain things such as hunt success, PvP victories, ect. Maybe the paints with functions could be applied during a certain event only, like the championship one and increase winning chances, ect.? They could be applied for an MB/SB fee and could focus on a certain aspect. The main reason being, some users might purchase the decor from another user being confused and not get what they want? I just think it's a bit too complex. Not sure if that makes sense, haha. It is a cool idea, though. Charms would be cool too! Perhaps charms that boosted certain aspects?

Concerning your Sex Change idea, which was just added to Lioden [ congrats! ]; I do think that perhaps the lioness should have no EXISTING cubs, so if you kill/chase all cubs of that lioness and none are in dynasties, then she is still eligible for sex changing? Those cubs shouldn't have existing cubs either. I'd bet there are users who've had no luck with their girl's cubs and have chased them all, but still would love to sex change that lion in order to prevent restarting their whole breeding project.
I'm not sure if I like the idea of not being able to hunt/patrol or have bred the lion in the past to sex change. What if there were a total patrol/hunt count, and that count, or the amount gained was recorded if it isn't already, and deducted from the lion, as well as the level before sex changing? I'm quite sure that would be possible, hunt counts are recorded. Another Issue: If I were to purchase the lioness of my dreams from trades, and wanted to sex change her to make her heir instead of taking chances trying to breed an heir, if she has any other cubs I do not own I wouldn't be able to do that! of course, if her cubs don't belong to you you wouldn't be able to kill/chase them, but I guess there is no solution to that.

Some points to note from this thread just in case: Link

"IF it was implemented it should be at least 2GB more expensive, I am not fond of the idea of turning a Sub Male into a female to breed, then back and over and back and over as you please.
Plus, existing females with amazing stats could possibly be turned into Main Males who would turn over the leader boards and influence the Cub problem which admins are already attempting to solve permanently." - Cat (#5265)

Also, when customizing, a females base is 5 GB less than customizing a males. And a adult sex changer could be used to a users advantage which is not acceptable.

"No support.

(1) This would not allow players to prevent certain cubs from being used as studs (be that high stats to avoid studs rushing the leaderboards too fast, or special markings that they want to slowly get out one lioness' litter at a time versus out in mass because of studding.) Those players would likely just chase the really nice cubs at that point, instead of making them available to players as 2 year old lionesses - a great loss to everyone.

(2) This would mess up the heritage of the offspring (family trees). What was once a lion, and is now a lioness, would mean someone now has two female parents appearing on the heritage... or, what was once a mom, and is now a male, means someone would have 2 males as parents. It wouldn't make sense from a lineage standpoint, and could make tracing ancestry almost impossible (hard enough now, since heirs don't always show their parents without digging into it.)

EDITED TO ADD:
Didn't even think about Cat's point - this would totally mess up the use of the customization tool - people would customize a lioness, swap her to a male, and save GB. From the perspective of the creators, this would reduce the demand for GB purchases. GB purchases are what keeps the game alive (and free) for those who choose to play it." - muttduck2 (#4758)

Just throwing out ideas here, but what about a special, maybe lion or account-bound leaderboard exclusive background and/or lion decor? I was thinking the Leaderboard rock as seen in explore could be made a background for them, and be equipped to the lion once they reach the LB? I think that users who reach the leaderboard don't seem to get much in return, at least in terms of congratulations for their hard work, if that makes sense? The leaderboard background, at least, especially if account bound, would allow their leaderboard lions to stand out from the crowd and the icon would let them be recognized even after their special lions passed away, even though it isn't much. If lion-bound, it might be nice to toggle it on or off. If account bound, that might prevent it from being sold and raise issues in lion transferring, ect. However, if not bound, it could be sold and should be fairly valuable. Also, maybe title awards and icons like special icons for reaching leaderboard just like alpha players have special icons next to their usernames? Like the title "Champion," or "Leader" available only to leaderboard kings to put them apart, I guess? Maybe an icon next to the lion/sub male names in that user's den as well!

Sorry for digging up a bunch of your old posts. I really like your suggestions though, and hope they get implemented and/or improved and used if possible! Very well thought out and interesting. I hope I'll remember to check back in case there's anything to add/change/discuss. Sorry if this seems a bit jumbled, too. I was working on multiple things while writing this up. I'd be happy to clarify if I can be notified.

Since we already had some of these suggestions made into reality, I'm just slowly waiting for the base inheritance item. :v

Updated with some stuff, as well as a new item ovo

EDIT: Totally forgot to reply to you, Shenanigans. Sorry it took a while! x-x

The staff are totally welcome to balance the decor ideas as they see fit, if they're implemented - it doesn't have to be a large boost, in the least - just something minorly useful beyond being pretty c:

I do appreciate all the feedback, however, and will consider going over things again when I have a bit more time to make those particular suggestions more balanced ovo
