no idea if this is in the right section ahhhh *just adding the LF Digital Artist to title* N-Now I'm even more unsure if this is in the right section So it's 2:30 AM when I get an idea for a new species. What do I do? Immediately sit up and sketch it, of course. Afterwards, I feel rather pleased with my creation and wonder, "Would other people like this?" What do I do next? Make this thread, of course. Ehehe, so yeah. These are the two little sketchies I came up with! They don't have a name yet :c I do have a few ideas for their behaviors and such, however! - They're a pack mammal with no alpha pair. The females have less fluff and do most of the hunting/foraging while the males stay at the dens and care for the pups. - They're omnivores. They eat berries, insects, and the occasional small rodent. - Guards stand up on their back legs to "watch" over the pack and use their tail for extra balance. - They communicate with clicks. They have enhanced hearing and smell due to their lack of eyes.* *As they somewhat resemble bats, I was considering giving them echolocation rather than enhanced hearing and smell....Or a combination of both! Let me know what you think! Please fill out the following form to let me know what you think! 1) Any changes you would make? (Tell me here what you think of the whole echolocation vs enhanced senses!) 2) Would you buy one and how much would you pay? 3) If you're a digital artist, would you consider doing the lineart of these little guys if I do end up making them an adoptable/closed/whateverwordiscorrecthere species? (You would get a share of the profits, of course!) Artists who'd like to do the lineart of this species are free to draw them as examples! I just ask that if you do draw them, do not sell the art you do of them c: It's not a requirement that you post a drawing of them in your style, however! If you'd rather show me various art that you've done in the past, that's quite alright, too!<3 THE NAME HAS BEEN CHOSEN! *hallelujah plays softly in the background* The name for this new species is...Amicaeus! It was suggested by Emmon (#37702)! It is a mix of the Latin words for "blind" and "friend," which I just absolutely love~<3  0 players like this post! Like? When I think of mutations I think of split tails .3. maybe even a Cerberus mutation with triple heads XD what if theirs a mutation were they DO have eyes :O but struggle to learn how to use them and derp all the time XD 0 players like this post! Like? |

Mutations in pelt color/formation would be cool. And maybe extra ears/tails and stuff. I wouldn't necessarily make it a fashionable/desirable thing, though. Like... albinism makes for cool eye/skin colors but it also shortens life span. Keeping it realistic would make things more interesting, in my opinion. If you're doing region based diffences, playing around with fur amount/disposition and build would be cool, though. So like... mountain dwelling creatures may be stockier and have stronger legs and longer fur, for example. And creatures that live in warm, open spaces would be taller, have longer legs, and shorter fur. 0 players like this post! Like? |

And hunting requires a certain level of intelligence, and so does pack living. The fact that they have no alpha pair also lends to a more docile attitude. Given these, I would think that they would be pretty intelligent, and fearful of but open to human interaction. They would also need to have strong pheromones/body smell in order to recognize each-other without sight. Though if they have stronger smell, they wouldn't need to stink so much XD Unless they are dolphin-level intelligent, in which case they could greet each-other by saying their own names. 0 players like this post! I do like that split tails idea, Zeroknight :o I agree, Emmon c: Realistic mutations would definitely make things more interesting! I also really like the idea of different builds/furs based on regions! *w* I definitely agree with the docile attitude~ I could never see these guys viciously attacking anyone unless they threatened their pups xD I was considering making them communicate with clicks, which does remind me of dolphins, now that I think about it xD 0 players like this post! Oh, no, it's alright! :o I was going to add to the main post that people are free to draw them for examples of their style and such, since I am looking for an artist c: The only thing I'd have a problem with is if someone drew them and then tried to sell them or didn't credit them as my species. Anyway, you can have a special pass, Comet c: I'm sorry to say that we won't get to work together on the art of these guys since I'm looking for a digital artist, but feel free to draw them as much as you want! Haha, I'm glad you like them so much~! ;u; They've been getting a lot of love, so I've decided that I'll go ahead and make these guys a closed species~ c: So I'm now on the lookout for a digital artist! 1.) None that I can think of. 2.) No suggestions from me, a mix sounds good though. 3.) Maybe 1 - 300 SB for a random and 1 GB - 2 GB for a custom depending on complexity? 4.)
