ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ
You are going to die. That’s the truth. You will die quickly or you will die slowly, but make no mistake: you will die. Death will haunt your pawsteps and trail you at every corner. If you live, you will be loved. You will be cherished. Yours will be the story passed on to the next generation, a shining beacon in a sea of shadows stinking of despair. But if you die, no one will mourn you; no one will remember you.

There is no escape. There is no love or hope or a desperate wish made reality when the end seems nigh. There is only pain and suffering and the final snuffing of your candle. Yours is the task given to all able-bodied young adults. The breeders do not need you. They do not want you. Yours is a cur’s life, and you shall die as all curs do.

Defend your pack with your life. Without them you are lost. Without you, they are dead. A cur who abandons their pack is no better than a mad dog. You fight against the wolfhounds, the bastard children of the betrayers and their dogs. Give your lives for the free wolves, so they may live on.

ʀᴜʟᴇs
1.Your character will die. Do not make a character you wish to hold onto! Characters will be killed almost entirely by RNG. They will die randomly and occasionally in very horrific ways (keeping in mind the 16+ rating, of course). You will most likely not get to choose what sort of end your character has!

2. Failure to act in accordance with game lore will be met with warnings if your character is in a position of power. Subsequent failings may result in your character being demoted to keep up with the theme of the game.
3. This rp is literate. Proper grammar + spelling is expected. Please do not post if you are incapable of ensuring your post if well-written. (the occasional mistake is, of course, expected and will not be penalized)

4. This rp does require ~150 words per reply. Replies may be slightly shorter or much longer, but this is a literate roleplay and meaty replies are expected.

5. No powerplaying / godmodding. Taking control of another character’s actions or having access to information you shouldn’t will result in a warning and continuous improper play may result in a banhammer.

6. No graphic mating. Fade-to-black, blah blah. Don’t be weird about your animals.

7. Players may create two characters to begin with. If the player has shown no trouble roleplaying both after one week, they will be allowed to create a third. This may be repeated twice more for a maximum of five characters.

ᴛᴇʀᴍs
free wolves: intelligent wolves originally developed by humans at the end of the 21st century. on-par with humans in terms of intelligence and possessing of a vastly longer lifespan; a properly-fed and housed free wolf is capable for living upwards of two hundred years

wolfhounds: wolf-dog hybrids; also incredibly intelligent and bred specifically for their unwavering loyalty toward humans. tasked with hunting the free wolves

pack: a small group of curs (typically 7-10, but can be upwards of 15) of unrelated breeding; used to fight against the wolfhounds; packs will occasionally receive new members to replenish their numbers and each pack is assigned a name given at random; a decimated pack’s name will never be used again

curs: wolves tasked with fighting the wolfhounds. these wolves are expected to die and are considered utterly expendable. used derogatively by the high-rankers

civilians: wolves either too old or too feeble or too injured (typically severely handicapped) to continue fighting as curs. also called commoners. pups birthed by them must eventually fight as curs once they reach adult age. no exceptions made.

high-rankers: the “nobility” of the free wolves; wolves capable of tracing their lineage back to the original generation’s leaders and extended family. they are expected to offer at least one pup to fight against the wolfhounds, typically the second-born

breeders: derogative term used by curs to describe the high-rankers

tenderfoot: derogative term used to describe the leaders of packs with relations to high-rankers; these wolves are often expected to “bloody” themselves before being honorably discharged to live amongst the civilians

bloody/bloodied: to kill a wolfhound. most wolves are bloodied once or twice before being cut down in battle; has been adopted by the wolfhounds for a similar purpose. for more information, check the lore post below, beneath the header: "in regards to bloody marks"

savages: refers to: curs who have bloodied themselves an extraordinary number of times; typically re-assigned to lead their own pack; rumor has it that a cur who has bloodied itself one hundred times will be honorably discharged and given the title of high-ranker but the majority are killed before they achieve this. can also refer to: the leaders of the free wolves. in the other section of the sign-up form please place: "a famine upon us all" so i know you read all this. known for their brutal efficiency in eliminating the weak (will rarely if ever be used as the latter descriptor)

sin-eaters: known as the right paw of the ruling savages. typically whom the packs most interact with. known for dealing out harsh punishments to those who skirt the rules. not afraid to make an example out of a cur.

mad dog: another term for a wolfhound; sometimes shortened to “dog”

litter: a wolfhound’s “pack”. made up of unrelated dogs led by one older dog called big brother/big sister by the others. typically 5-10 (no more than 15).

ʀᴀɴᴋs
alpha: leader of a pack. leads the pack in battles and is expected to punish insubordination. failure to punish too often may result in a punishment of their own delivered by a sin-eater. eats first and receives treatment first. (other names: savage or tenderfoot)

beta: second-in-command. tasked with managing resources and keeping up with the daily needs of the pack. may challenge for alpha position. receives care and food second

medic: cur trained in basic medical knowledge. receives food third, will be taken off battlefield if grievously injured to (try and) prevent death. wolfhounds will often attack the medic first if they find a camp

pack: general term used to describe the pack members that are not alpha, beta or medic. the pack must decide amongst itself who eats and receives care first and infighting is common amongst the packs. any pack member may challenge for beta. pack members may also challenge for alpha, but only in deathmatches

scout: a pack member who is used as bait to draw out the wolfhounds for confrontations. high mortality rate. curs assigned the rank of scout are equal with other pack members but may eat first if about to embark on a mission, sometimes called “the last supper” as a morbid joke

sin-eaters: the power behind the alpha. two sin-eaters are assigned per pack and act as the enforcers of the free wolves’ savage rules. sin-eaters are neither curs nor high-rankers and typically relay missions to the alpha and punish improper pack management.

note: pups birthed within a pack will be taken away by sin-eaters to be raised amongst civilians and then reintroduced as a cur in a different pack once they are of-age (family members are kept separated to prevent family alliances)

w o l f h o u n d r a n k s

big brother/sister: the leader of the wolfhound litter. typically the oldest if not the largest. expected to punish and control their litter as they see fit

sister/brother/sibling: term used by the littermates to describe one another.

There is no real control in a wolfhound litter. The mad dogs are put together from a young age and trained together. Typically unfit dogs are killed by their littermates and another is put in their place. Pregnant bitches may be cared for by the litter or left to die/lose her pups. In the other section of the sign-up form please also type your favorite number. There is no real order in a litter aside from the big brother/sister dog.

note: litters are torn apart and eaten by their brethren if even one wolfhound from the litter is found to be consorting with the free wolves. for this reason, litters may often turn on one of their own with little or no prior warning.

Oh I'm sorry. I didn't quite get that out of your last question lol and the age of your characters is really your choice though it is more likely for them to be younger [because a lot of dying will be taking place] Lir stated in the Sign Ups that the oldest will be 4-5 years old, because of all the fighting...and even that old is unlikely. So really just pick a place between 1 and wherever you'd like to be.
Also where they are in the territory is on the map in the top right corner. Snake Eaters currently reside across the lake from BlueStone next to the area of land the free-wolves want to take over [The Deep Woods ] and so there will be a lot of conflict there.

I feel really dumb at the moment. I was seeing/thinking sin-eaters not snake-eaters. Everything makes sense now. After today, I probably won't be on again till sometime next week so it might be awhile before I can submit my form.

I just did his ENTIRE sign up and closed the tab. So this one no fucks will be given.

Reve_zps1bweudpx.png
.REVELATION.BROTHER.2 CYCLES.BRUTE.UNATTACHED.

Name: Revelation [Reve]

Age: 2

Faction: Wolfhound - Snake Eater

Rank: Brother

Personality: The male is not the most social of individuals often he gets a bit of a bad temper and doesn't want to be fucked with with...at all. Preferring his own company over those of his siblings most of the others know this and will not bother the male when he is in a 'mood' no, not unless they actually want a fight. Despite the fact that he doesn't like association Reve's loyalty is undeterred and he will do anything to ensure that orders are followed through and that he himself comes out on top...he and the others of course. A bit bi-polar in his feelings the male craves attention, but when given the smallest of glances he begins to act out, denying any form of it. That being said the brute fills the void for attention with a different need, he needs to be moving. Doing something, because he knows the wolves are out there, plotting against them...They want the Deep Woods but that is simple something which will not happen, not if Revelation can help it anyway.

Description: Reve is a tall canine, a trait which he's received from his hound ancestors the brute is long limbed and light footed. Few traits were passed from his wolf ancestors; rounded auds, fluffed facial features, the intelligence which he prides so greatly... but it is impossible to be mistaken for anything other than a wolf hound. Long limbs dipped in white lead to an array of browns and red, but the majority of his lower canvasing is a sleek pure white mostly untouched by anything else. A small, sharp cranium with hazel taking over his optics the hue often leans closer to green than the blue which sometimes will make it's self dominant. Reve is a relatively large mutt though in the Winter his fur does not grow in as thick as it should in all places, mostly in the neck region.

History: Like the others within his litter Reve was brought in to train with his brothers and sisters, train, fight. Kill. Everything they did, was done together and Revelation soon grew into a life within a litter, knowing nothing outside of fighting for his faction.. Infact...the brute does not even remember his own mothers. Sometimes, in the dead of night dreams will evade the brute...false memories of a young white vixen, looks leaning toward those of a real wolf though she seemed so...kind. It is impossible for the male to remember what his real dame looked like, these are merely figment's of a broken child's imagination.

Bloodied Marks: 13

STATS: (leave blank until you have been accepted)

combat: 12

luck: 5

healing: 5

I'm sorry I am taking so long to post my character form. I'm a bit stumped on my character creation right now, and trying to decide if I want to go with the beta position, or make a wolfhound (I may do both if I think I can handle it)

2lwlj87.jpg

name, gender, age: Vail ♂ (6 years)
faction & rank: curs, Alpha of Bluestone Pack

personality: A brute like no other Vail is quite literally the "calm before the storm". Most curs choose to underestimate him because of how calm he is but don't let his quiet demeanor fool you. He can be quick to anger and does not tolerate insubordination in any way, shape, or form. He is not afraid to make an example out of a cur if his sin-eater does not do it first. He very rarely takes words of advice from others, except his sin-eater, her judgement he trusts. But he's intelligent enough to make a decision for himself. As Alpha he has last say in everything anyway. On the battlefield, he is cold and calculating, intelligent and one step ahead of his opponent. He has not survived for as long as he has by simply rolling over in battle. He takes pride in his numerous scars and will not hesitate to remind insubordinates how he received such scars.

description: ((Above image belongs to me; commissioned piece))
Vail is a rather large brute in both weight and height. He bears a pelt of darkness; blacks, greys and whites. With eyes of frozen snow. The scars on his body are numerous but he takes most pride in those on his face. Despite his large size he is rather lithe and like a phantom, he is silent on his paws. But because of his large size his speed is not as it should be. Though his strength and stamina is great.

history: Vail was not born in Bluestone. As much as he says he was, he was not and those who know the true history of the pack know that Vail appeared seemingly out of nowhere. Like a phantom in the snow he'd appeared before the previous alpha and in this land of kill or be killed he emerged victorious. The fight was glorious and lasted for quite a bit, it seemed both wolves were evenly matched but one wrong move on the old Alpha's behalf would prove to be his downfall. Where Vail came from before Bluestone he speaks little of. All that is known is that he came from a distant land where his birth pack was nearly wiped out by Wolfhounds. Him and the wolf that he quite literally only knew as Father, the only survivors, had traveled far searching for a new pack. One day Father simply fell ill. It started with hard panting and soon Father was quite literally insane, foaming at the mouth and lunging at Vail, the wolf he had raised, as if Vail were an enemy. But Vail knew, Father had to have been poisoned by the humans. He would stay with Father, avoiding slashing fangs and claws, before one day the older wolf literally dropped dead. The experience has made Vail very distrusting of humans and their hounds and he will not hesitate to charge one. He's ripped open more then his fair share of hounds as revenge for what their "masters" did to his birth pack and the wolf he'd seen as a father-figure for the entirety of his life.

bloodied marks: 18 ((I rolled for his marks. Link for Proof))
STATS:
combat: 11
luck: 7
healing: N/A

ROLEPLAY SAMPLE: ((this is post of Vail before he came upon the Bluestone pack))
It was a hard life out here for two wolves...well one and a crippled wolf. Vail's father was blind in both eyes and had a crippling leg injury he'd received from a hound in the battle that took the lives of the rest of their pack. It was infected and Vail knew it was only a matter of time before the older wolf succumbed to his injury. As a pup Vail had been raised to look after and respect his elders, that was the only reason he stuck around with his father. Even though he was relatively sure his father was not his father and his mother was not his mother. His earliest memory was growing up in a large litter of pups, too large for a normal wolf to give birth to, and living among the wounded and elderly. Vail was not a fan of the pups he grew up with. They were weak. He always won the fights and skirmishes. It was only a matter of time before he was picked by the Alpha as heir.

Training was rough and would quite possibly be inhumane. Nights spent in the cold with his little paws nearly freezing off but determination was something he was born with. But Vail was never given the opportunity to lead the pack. He was never given the opportunity to challenge the alpha, his father. They had come seemingly out of nowhere, the Hounds and the Humans. Vail fought alongside his brethren but they were simply outnumbered. He would have died with his pack, would have preferred to die in honor, fighting alongside his brethren. But his father was a coward. In Vail's eyes he was. To run from battle was the mark of a coward. With the Alpha retreating the Hounds and humans fell back and Vail was left with nothing to kill him so begrudgingly he would follow his Alpha.

Not that the Alpha was going to survive much longer. He'd been acting so strange lately. He'd refused the meat Vail was hunting and had claimed he found better meat which he refused to share. Whatever. Vail could provide for himself. He was relatively sure Alpha was going mad anyway. He kept speaking of stupid, flightless birds and fluffy deer with white coats. Had he paid attention to his schooling Vail would know his father spoke of chickens and sheep. He was hunting, stealing, from the humans. The humans knew and the Alpha was paying the price with his mutterings of insanity, his blood shot eyes and his drooling. It was unbecoming of an Alpha.

Days passed and Vail became more wary around his father who'd begun to act aggressively towards him. The saliva coming from his maw was thick now, almost foamy. The Alpha's eyes were white and he kept complaining of being thirsty yet refused the water Vail brought him to. Vail had seem him drink but then choked on his own saliva and tongue. When he woke this morning his father was laying on his side, panting hard and licking the snow for water that was not there. Whenever Vail approached his father would snap his jaws making Vail jump back. The younger wolf could only sit back and watch as his only remaining pack member took his last, struggling breathe then grew still and silent. Only then was Vail able to examine the body. It smelled....sickly and like human. Human? Human....humans had killed his father. Poison could be the only explanation Vail could think of. "You old fool...." Vail would grumble under his breath before turning and disappearing into the snow. Trotting away from the dead wolf and towards a new beginning.

There is one slight change I'd like to ask you to make. :) The curs are almost never allowed into the same pack as their parents to prevent family alliances from cropping up, and the pups are typically separated from them at a young age. Could you possibly change it from father to father-figure or mentor or something similar? :)

Well, in my role-play sample he states that he's not really sure whether his father is his birth father or not, just the wolf he considers a father. But I can change it to be more specific ^^ That part was rather confusing lol

No problem :D also, I have a question, I'm planning on making a Hound as well and was wandering if the same thing applies to them? The thing being that pups are separated by their parents and raised by others?

With wolfhounds, they are separated from their parents for training, but it's typically when they're around six months.

In comparison, the curs are separated almost immediately. The only time this doesn't happen is when it's a sin-eater or a tenderfoot, AKA a child born from high-rankers. Sin-eaters go through a different process than curs for training and some may stay with their parents until they're of training age, while others may be separated almost immediately. Tenderfoots, in comparison, are only separated once they've reached a year and are assigned to a pack. They're typically trained by personal tutors.

However, unlike curs, wolfhound siblings will typically be allowed to stay together. The humans know they'll receive complete obedience from the hounds, so they're not worried about family alliances being formed. Occasionally, if a wolfhound litter (like Snake Eaters) is too large, siblings may be split up. But that's the only time they're really separated.

Thanks for the question, I'll be adding it to the FAQ tomorrow :)

------------------------------------

Also tomorrow, I'll be putting up the roleplay thread / events thread! :D Pallis, feel free to continue taking your time on the beta, but with alpha filled we can begin roleplaying a bit and letting the curs get to know each other before the first event drops, haha.

That clears a lot of things up! So are higher ranks and "tenderfoots" considered higher then the Alpha? Does the Alpha get any less respect if he wasn't born from higher ranks? Are Alphas strictly higher ranks or can any cur be an Alpha? Whats the difference between "tenderfoots" and Alphas?

So Wolfhounds are separated from their parents at 6 months but kept with their siblings unless the pack is too big?

Just gonna grab from the terms :)

curs: wolves tasked with fighting the wolfhounds. these wolves are expected to die and are considered utterly expendable. used derogatively by the high-rankers

civilians: wolves either too old or too feeble or too injured (typically severely handicapped) to continue fighting as curs. also called commoners. pups birthed by them must eventually fight as curs once they reach adult age. no exceptions made.

high-rankers: the “nobility” of the free wolves; wolves capable of tracing their lineage back to the original generation’s leaders and extended family. they are expected to offer at least one pup to fight against the wolfhounds, typically the second-born

breeders: derogative term used by curs to describe the high-rankers

tenderfoot: derogative term used to describe the leaders of packs with relations to high-rankers; these wolves are often expected to “bloody” themselves before being honorably discharged to live amongst the high-rankers once more

In this war between the free wolves and wolfhounds, the alphas can basically be seen as the commanders of small groups of soldiers (the pack) sent out on specific missions against the wolfhounds. They are birthed by civilians and expected to die fighting for the cause. Alphas are typically curs and are "low-born" but tenderfoots can be assigned alpha and are typically mocked by the curs since they're pampered nobles that only got the rank through connections. Tenderfoot is basically just a derogatory name to call an alpha born from nobility.

High-rankers are typically higher than the alpha, but the alpha won't actually interact with them. Instead the alpha interacts with the sin-eaters. The sin-eaters assign missions and ensure the alpha follows orders. The alpha controls the pack, but the sin-eaters control the alpha.

sin-eaters: the power behind the alpha. two sin-eaters are assigned per pack and act as the enforcers of the free wolves’ savage rules. sin-eaters are neither curs nor high-rankers and typically relay missions to the alpha and punish improper pack management.

And yes! Wolfhounds are separated from their parents for training at six months. They do receive daily interaction with humans and siblings are kept together. If too many siblings are assigned to one litter and the litter becomes too large, then they'll be separated and put in separate litters.
