I had an idea that I'd like to discuss with other users on Lioden to see how they feel about it. What if users could pay a certain amount of gb to run an ad for 1-7 days? A few points to consider: -This ad could be text based, or a small image. -The ad would link to a thread. -This ad wouldn't have to just link to a sales thread, it could also link to a thread requesting support for a new feature. -These ads would cycle through and display a random ad so everyone has equal chance to have their ad seen. -Obviously no hateful things in the ads and nothing controversial. Ads would be approved by a moderator (I'd be happy to do this job). -Ads like this would expose those who are not always in sales chat to things they might have not even known they wanted to buy. Things like custom decor, mutated lions, stud threads, adoptables, etc. -For those who don't like ads, adblock would work to block these ads. There would also be an option on your profile to disable user ads. -If you don't like a particular ad you can click an "x" button near it and say you don't want to see the ad anymore. -No moving or flashing images, just a static text or image. Here is my mockup for where the ad positions could be located. Please vote on which position you favor! Let me know if there are any points I missed. Please discuss this with me, I want to know what you think. I will edit in new information/suggestions as it is posted! @kitten Lioden doesn't have any actual ads right now so I keep my adblocker turned off. I'm sure for those of us who would like something like this, we could turn it off. For those who don't want it they can just keep on truckin :P  0 players like this post! Like? |

I always have adblock on, I spend $100 a so or month on Lioden as my way of supporting, I know if this was implemented most adblock users wouldn't even consider turning it off for this site. I can't also help but say you are incorrect too, my adblocker is currently showing a small (1) symbol on this page which indicates there is an ad here. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Hmm, I'm on the fence about this. On one side, I think it would be a good idea! You could look through some ads to see if there's anything that you want to purchase, or support, etc... But then, there comes the problem of the price. You couldn't have it too cheap, because then there would be so many ads, but the more expensive it becomes, the less people would buy it (obviously). Unfortunately with that, say I'm selling items, because I really need the GB. At the moment though, I don't have any GB to advertise my shop. Someone who doesn't need the GB as much, but is still selling items might have the GB to purchase an ad. If that was the case, their shop would get more traffic than mine, and they would be the one making all the money. If it's up to you to advertise your shop yourself, for free, there's no one to blame but yourself if no one comes to it. So I won't press either button at the moment. c: 0 players like this post! I'm sorry, but no. One of the things I love about Lioden is the open borders (if that makes sense), and filling them up with ads doesn't sound the least bit appealing, even if they were for things on the game itself. Maybe I'd reconsider if we were able to turn off the ads on our profile. So...no support from me. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I'm also supporting the above comment made by Shadow King, whats the point in having a beautiful dynamic background only to have it clogged by ads? Would users have to generate the ads? Would they just be text on white? Would there be art? It seems like a lot of work really, If you're expecting the site to generate them, someone will have to code all that - if you're expecting users to make them, interest is bound to drop. 0 players like this post! No support. Text-based ads can be made right now for free using sales chat - any currency paid to do that would be a waste. Those who don't frequent sales chat can search the forums for what they want. A lot of users (myself included) use an adblocker, so I feel like anyone paying to have an ad placed would not get as much of a reach as they expect, and any sales generated by the ad would not be enough to recoup the cost of the ad itself. 0 players like this post! An ad-blocker would provide a rather big problem. Also, wouldn't these ads be kinda annoying? Would there be some type of way to "X" out of an ad you didn't want to see? Personally, I think the sales chat works fine, and people who want to find something not included in the sales chat would just go looking for it. @Kitten my adblock is off and I don't see anything on the bottom of the page. There are position #4 & 5 that do not block any of the background, if you don't want it blocking anything. Users would submit the ads. You could submit a text ad which is just enter an amount of words (like a tweet) and post them. This takes next to no coding effort as you just put the text on a white background. Or the user could submit an image, which would need to fit the constraints of the box (like the avatars under our usernames). None of this is any more difficult than uploading a new avatar for yourself. ^^ 0 players like this post! Like? |

If the ads are only going to be text only... why not just use the free Sales Chatbox? Yanno, that's what its there for. Also, what about mobile players? They might want to submit an ad, but the adverts wouldn't even show on a mobile device... 0 players like this post! Like? |
