I had an idea that I'd like to discuss with other users on Lioden to see how they feel about it.

What if users could pay a certain amount of gb to run an ad for 1-7 days?

A few points to consider:
-This ad could be text based, or a small image.
-The ad would link to a thread.
-This ad wouldn't have to just link to a sales thread, it could also link to a thread requesting support for a new feature.
-These ads would cycle through and display a random ad so everyone has equal chance to have their ad seen.
-Obviously no hateful things in the ads and nothing controversial. Ads would be approved by a moderator (I'd be happy to do this job).
-Ads like this would expose those who are not always in sales chat to things they might have not even known they wanted to buy. Things like custom decor, mutated lions, stud threads, adoptables, etc.
-For those who don't like ads, adblock would work to block these ads. There would also be an option on your profile to disable user ads.
-If you don't like a particular ad you can click an "x" button near it and say you don't want to see the ad anymore.
-No moving or flashing images, just a static text or image.

Here is my mockup for where the ad positions could be located. Please vote on which position you favor!

Let me know if there are any points I missed. Please discuss this with me, I want to know what you think. I will edit in new information/suggestions as it is posted!

Noxis (#93407) - "Maybe paid ads that go through the Chat automatically every 15 Minutes? They could only be written though."

Oxygenated pastry (#94156) - "I think ads should definitely 100% be GB because ad space is the kind of thing that should be used to support the site with real money"

This suggestion has 17 supports and 46 NO supports.

@celtic I don't see how lioden would lose popularity due to ads that can easily be blocked or turned off?

@Snuh If the people don't want ads they can turn it off. I personally do think I'd like to see ads when not specifically searching for something. Like if I saw an ad for a cool custom decor, I would have never known to go searching for that decor because I would have never known it existed of not for the ad.

I don't use ad block, and I would not want to have to get it specifically for lioden. If people would like to advertise then they can post for free in the forum or the sales, I'd rather not have ads floating around. No support.

@cat you don't have to get adblock, the option would be toggleable with a simple switch on your profile.

Your idea to have the ads toggleable, while goodhearted, is naive. If Lioden were to implement these paid-for ads in actuality, they would not be made optional.

No support imo because, you have the forums, the trade center, and the sales chat for free. Why would people spend money to get a ad instead of posting it in sales chat, the forums or the trade center? Plus, with so many people possibly toggling the option off, the paid ad would likely get less popularity than it would in the sales chat/forums/trade center.
