I had an idea that I'd like to discuss with other users on Lioden to see how they feel about it. What if users could pay a certain amount of gb to run an ad for 1-7 days? A few points to consider: -This ad could be text based, or a small image. -The ad would link to a thread. -This ad wouldn't have to just link to a sales thread, it could also link to a thread requesting support for a new feature. -These ads would cycle through and display a random ad so everyone has equal chance to have their ad seen. -Obviously no hateful things in the ads and nothing controversial. Ads would be approved by a moderator (I'd be happy to do this job). -Ads like this would expose those who are not always in sales chat to things they might have not even known they wanted to buy. Things like custom decor, mutated lions, stud threads, adoptables, etc. -For those who don't like ads, adblock would work to block these ads. There would also be an option on your profile to disable user ads. -If you don't like a particular ad you can click an "x" button near it and say you don't want to see the ad anymore. -No moving or flashing images, just a static text or image. Here is my mockup for where the ad positions could be located. Please vote on which position you favor! Let me know if there are any points I missed. Please discuss this with me, I want to know what you think. I will edit in new information/suggestions as it is posted! @Noxis added your suggestion to the post! @Shetani well that depends on how much the ad cost, which I would like to discuss. Personally I would love to see some user ads so I could see cool custom decors. I don't generally search through the forums for stuff I don't know exists. @Jack yes you could disable ads you don't want to see as well as disable ads entirely without having to have adblock.  0 players like this post! @Kitten I don't always look at the sales chat. I don't always post in sales chat. An ad would run for me and make it so I don't need to post. It would also show me stuff I didn't know I wanted. Stuff like custom decor could have an image up, which would show how awesome the item is and make people want to buy it. If the ad is coded into lioden I don't see why it would have any more trouble displaying than anything else considering we aren't using an actual legitimate $$ ad. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Personally, no support. I use an adblocker, and I am sure many others on this site do as well. (Even if it cannot be blocked, I'm sure there would have to be a disable ad option) This would mean that people buying ads would be losing money due to people blocking them. Furthermore, we have sales chat. I think this is a fine way of sales, as I would not like to see ads. I think it would get extremely annoying, if I ever want to buy something I'll search for it, not have ads trying to sell stuff when I couldn't care less about the items that are for sale. I mean even then that would mean only big name players like Bsss and Tilted would be using it. Not that there's anything wrong with that but it would appear unfair. So all together, the ads can stay in sales chat. 0 players like this post! Like? |

@oxygenated added your input to the 1st post ^^ @cosmic there would be an option to block seeing ads @caleb I'd use it to advertise things. I'm sure other adoptable artists would as well. As well as people looking to sell muties, or giveaways even. @Iturunai So GB would be a better option for you then? What would be the point, then? If you could disable them it means that your money could potentially go to waste when buying ads, as people would've blocked them, meaning you'd only be broadcasting your ad to the people who have them unblocked? 0 players like this post! Like? |

@cosmic Even if only 20% of people have ads enabled on lioden that's still 200 people seeing your ad that wouldn't have otherwise (like those who aren't constantly looking at sales chat). I myself would have the ads unblocked as I am interested in seeing what people would put up there. There are 5 other supporters just in the last few minutes who would also have their ads unblocked and are interested in seeing what people would advertise. 0 players like this post! Like? |

There's a lot that goes into designing a successful advertisement. You need to make it attractive to look at, convey information, and do it all in a very small space. To be quite frank, I don't think Lioden's userbase at large would be able to accomplish this. Take a look at the kinds of messages being posted in sales chat right now, and imagine if those needed to be translated to visual format. There would need to be a team of people vetting these ads, or else we'd get an influx of things like "check out mi stud he's rlly cHEAP!!" in pink font on a purple background with maybe a lion screenshot in there somewhere. The ads themselves can't be too big, and a lot of information would need to be communicated. The way most other websites do this is through animated ads, but Lioden doesn't currently have any moving graphics at all (save the shaking in Explore - which can be turned off - and some of the games). Accessibility now becomes an issue, and we need to consider players who cannot or don't want to be bombarded with flashing or moving images on every single page. 0 players like this post! Like? |

@shetani Truly I don't believe it would be that difficult. I meant to include there would be no flashing or moving images. And yes, I mentioned in another bullet point that there would need to be approval on ads before they were posted, and that I would be happy to do that job. They don't need to be translated to visual format, as they can be text based. Sort of like a "pinned" text or something so it gets a bit more notice than a regular sales post. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I personally think ads would have a dull purpose, because yes, adblockers are on for most people on here and there's always forums and a sales chat that we could "advertise on". Sure it may be a good idea to some, but some people tend to ruin the idea to where the ads turn out just being plum silly. Lioden would probably lose popularity as people are not fond of ads. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Eh...no support. If you want to advertise you have the sale forums, trade center, and the sales chat. No need to clutter up the site! If you want to browse things for sale you can go take a look at all those things or even just post a looking for advert, no need to annoy people who don't want ads when you can just go do that. 0 players like this post!
