Whitewhisker looked down at the she-cat, unsure if he should let her help him, after all, she was from a different clan. "Are you a medicine cat?" he asked. His tone was softer than before thought he squinted his eyes at her as if to say to not get too comfortable. But then tom flicked his tail, signalling that she could come over and help him as he decided she wouldn't be able to cause much harm. He felt a little amused, seeing how afraid the she-cat looked even though he couldn't even walk.

Rainheart noticed his tail flicker, and she slowly stood, swimming across the water. Her body shook once more, padding quietly to the male. "No.. I-I'm not a medicine cat, but my b-brother is. i also wanted to b-become medicine cat, but h-he took the spot." She glanced around, looking for any herbs/treatments. She found no moss, and was afraid if she gave him marigold, he'd have an allergic reaction. She didn't know this tom.. She cleared her throat a little, lowering her head to his fur. She licked at his wounds, flicking her ears at the taste. Once she cleared all of them, she pulled away, and the bleeding continued. Rainheart padded towards a cobweb, plucking it from the bush. She set bits of the cobweb in the wounds. She found some chervile roots, nudging them to his paws. "Eat those.."

Whitewhisker nodded, showing that he understood and quietly watched as she tended his wounds. He still wasn't exactly sure what to make of the she-cat, thought he felt he could trust her. He quite liked her gentle touch, the way she carefully licked the wounds clean before softly setting bits of cobweb into them. It was then that his thoughts of wanting a mate seeped in but he dismissed them with a flick of an ear. The cat was from another clan. The tom obeyed with question and bent down to eat the chervil roots. "What's your name?" he asked once he had finished. Even if she was from another clan, he wanted to know more about the she-cat.

Rainheart watched him bend down to lick up the roots, and she blinked. "Rainheart.. And you?" she asked, her tail curling around her paws as she sat. She became a bit more comfortable, and a soft smile spread across her muzzle. Her eyes scanned the surroundings, hoping no one was watching. As the sun started to set, she flattened her ears a little. "I'm sorry.. I-I have to go.. It was nice m-meeting you!" Before he could respond, she swam across the water and caught another prey. She looked back at him before padding to the camp.

"Whitewhisker." The black tom said, adjusting himself into a comfortable position. His injuries no longer hurt and he couldn't help but feel grateful towards Rainheart. Whitewhisker looked up as the sun set and looked at the she-cat, feeling a tinge of sadness as he watched her leave. "Thank you..." he murmured as she turned back to look at him. Once she had disappeared into the undergrowth, he made his way to the pigeon and dug it up before returning to camp with it in his jaws. As he dropped the bird on the fresh-kill pile, the deputy padded up to him, demanding to know where he had been. "Hunting." he stated in a obvious manner, cocking his head at the fresh-kill pile and walked away into the warrior's den before any more questions could be asked. He curled up in his moss nest, careful not to remove the cobweb covering his wounds and fell asleep.

As Rainheart dropped the two bodies of prey into the fresh-kill, Dustclaw greeted her. "Thanks for preventing that fight from continuing. Of course, I would've loved to hurt him more from the looks he was giving you, but I was afraid it would create something bigger.." The she-cat nodded, padding to Ravenclaw. "Rainheart! Thank goodness you're here! I need help with Greytail. He's got a lot of cockleburs, and I was afraid I wouldn't get all of them out before sundown," her littermate said. She nodded, padding up to the older male. She plucked a few, licking down his standing fur. When they were finished, the cave became a little more darker. The sun was setting.. Rainheart stood, flicking the tip of her tail. "I'm going to head off to sleep. I have another hunt to go on tomorrow.." With that said, the she-cat padded to the warrior's den, curling into a small ball in her leafy nest.

Whitewhisker was awoken with a prod and he slowly uncurled himself to face the deputy. "You're on border patrol, the others are already waiting for you outside." he growled to the warrior, who simply sneered before padding out into the clearing to join the waiting cats. The tom's body felt a little stiff, but he couldn't let anyone know about the skirmish that took place along the border and he noticed the deputy had already seemed suspicious of him. As the patrol set off, Whitewhisker walked to the front as if he was leading it and marked the border Shadowclan shared with Thunderclan. Along the way, he found that he couldn't stop thinking about Rainheart, though he wasn't exactly sure why and as they neared the Riverclan border, the black tom felt a need to see Rainheart again.

Rainheart was awoken by a small nudge. Her blue orbs opened slowly, meeting a small fluff of fur. "Rainheart!" Fernpaw mewed excitedly. The she-cat smiled down at the dark colored feline. "Sandstar said today is my first day for training! He said to start slow, and that you're my mentor." Rainheart nodded, sitting up. She yawned, poking her bottom out a little as she stretched. Her ears flicked, and she began to saunter out of the den, the apprentice following closely behind with a skip. Rainheart padded to the fresh-kill, a rumble to her stomach. But the pile was only stacked with a few. She sighed, staring at the camp entrance. "Come on! We're gonna start with hunting first," she purred, and the kit nodded with a smile.

They both reached the river, where most prey was found out of their entire clan territory. The she-cat noticed Whitewhisker, and a few of his patrol. Was she in trouble? Did he mention that she had helped him? She lowered her head to the following clan, before turning back to the Fernpaw. "Alright. Let's start." Her eyes scanned the grass, and a small robin hopped on the ground. She pointed it out to Fernpaw.

Whitewhisker strayed away from the rest of the patrol when he spotted two cats beside the river. Was one of them Rainheart? He couldn't be sure but he wanted to find out. Climbing up a large pine tree right beside the scent line, the tom peered down from branch and immediately recognized the she-cat who had helped him yesterday. "Whitewhisker! What are you doing? We're returning back to camp." The tom heard a member from the patrol say, but he refused to move."Leave me alone. I'm going hunting thought you probably scared all the prey away." Whitewhisker growled before hopping from one branch to another. It was obvious he wasn't hunting, he just wanted a chance to talk to the Riverclan she-cat. Once he had made sure the border patrol had gone, he climbed down from the tree and looked longingly out at Riverclan territory. Why am I acting like this? he questioned himself and at that moment he wasn't sure but he couldn't turn back now, not when Rainheart was so close.

Rainheart turned to the apprentice. "Watch me.." Fernpaw nodded excitedly, her ears perked as she focused her attention on the warrior and the bird. Rainheart began to stalk up to the small bird, it's beak digging into the grass as it ate fallen seeds from a plant. She kept low, reaching the prey. Her claws unsheathed, her ears twitching. Before the bird could fly away, she pounced onto the robin, wrapping her teeth around it's throat. It chirped, though it was soon limp in her jaws. She set it down, burying it into the dirt. She padded up to the kit, sitting on her haunches and licking her muzzle. "Alright. As you can see, I just killed that robin, and now it's prey. The first thing you need to start on is stalking. Slowly walk up behind the animal you are going after." Rainheart nodded, signaling that Fernpaw was allowed to start. The apprentice looked around, a small chipmunk sniffing around. Fernpaw lowered to the ground, silently walking up to it. Right as she reached the chipmunk, it looked up. The tiny animal scurried away with fear. "Good, Fernpaw! That chipmunk just ran away because it had turned around. After you stalk up to the prey, you need to pounce as quick as possible so it doesn't escape." Fernpaw nodded.

Rainheart heard a thump, making her ears flicker as she looked around. And there stood Whitewhisker, his patrol no longer with him. She sent him a smile. "Hello!" she greeted, standing up and swaying her tail. She occasionally looked to Fernpaw, checking on her progress of stalking.

Whitewhisker returned a smile to the she-cat as he padded right to the edge of the border and stopped at the flowing river. "Greetings Rainheart." he said with a joyful edge to his voice. As soon as he finished, he hesitated. Why was he suddenly so joyful? The warrior flicked his tail, "You have an apprentice? he asked. He never had one and he preferred to not communicate with them either but at that moment, he couldn't help but feel the need to learn how to mentor one, perhaps because after watching Rainheart.

Rainheart's smile faded as she looked towards Fernpaw, who was playing with a leaf. At least she was trying. "Well, yes.. Fernpaw was assigned to me this morning. This is her first day of training." The kit looked up at her name, part of the leaf in her mouth. Rainheart chuckled, and Fernpaw looked to the black tom. "Rainheart..? Why're you talking to that stranger? He's not in Riverclan..," she said, her ears flattened. Rainheart looked to Whitewhisker. "Don't worry! He's my.. uh.. cousin! We meet often to chat, since I can't see him a lot." The apprentice nodded, sitting down. "What's next?" Rainheart padded to the apprentice, pawing the leaf out of her mouth. "Next, is the pouncing," she purred. The she-cat got low to the ground, her eyes focused on a fallen tree branch. "You need to jump off your back legs, using your muscles. And you need to attack the prey. Don't pounce on it, then let it go.. It's food." Rainheart demonstrated, and Fernpaw soon started to practice. She turned back to the tom, sitting down. "Sorry.. Have to do my job." She laughed a little.

Whitewhisker flicked an ear towards the Riverclan apprentice, acknowledging her presence and watched as Rainheart introduced pouncing. He quietly observed as the she-cat explained the process of pouncing before demonstrating it and he took notes though he wondered if he would ever have the same amount of patience. The black tom found that he was beginning to admire the she-cat. Whitewhisker sat down beside the river, curling his tail around his white paws. "You seem to get along pretty well with her." he commented before adding, "So I'm your cousin now eh?" he mewed with amusement.

Rainheart shook her head with a smile. "Yup.. You're my cousin," she teased. Her ears flicked, looking back towards the apprentice. "Yeah.. I love little ones. I want some of my own, actually," she added, a soft smile across her muzzle as she turned her attention back to Whitewhisker. The she-cat relaxed a little, purring slightly as the sun poured down from the trees. Her eyes closed, the soft smile still present. Rainheart opened her eyes when she was called, turning towards Fernpaw. "Alright! Now what?" Rainheart stood, padding to the smaller feline. "Now, you need to learn how to kill the prey. Lots of people have different strategies. I usually suffocate it. Dustclaw bites a pressure point, which kills." Fernpaw nodded, thinking of ways to attack.

Whitewhisker looked at the she-cat, beginning to feel more relaxed around her. "Is that so?" he asked retorically as he looked down at his paws, thinking to himself. He had never tried to expose himself to the clan's kits and apprentices and he as starting to wonder if that was a mistake. He focused his attention back on the mentor and apprentice and his face turned into a scorwl at the mention of Dustclaw, bringing him to remember the earlier conclusion he had made about the two. Were they mates? At the thought, he stood up abruptly. If Rainheart already had a mate. he was wasting his time here.
