Long before humans roamed the earth and established colonies, a different community existed. In Scandinavia, canines lived their lives with particular beliefs, a strict ranking system, and even adapted to creating shelters and tools in order to further their survival.

Only a few decades go, the previous king of the Highvalley Court by the name of Baseno declared dire wolves and grey wolves a menace to society. He ordered them to be killed on sight. Wolves were devolved, unintelligent, and violent. Dogs were considered the higher species; full of a regal charm and clean blood. Today, the wolf population appears to be extinct. This was until a nomadic clan of vikings called the Blackback Guard decided to set up in their valleys- and the vast majority of them do not appear to be pure-blooded. At the head of their pack is a vicious wolf-looking terrorizer hailed by the name Ragnar. It is his intention to slay the King, and rule the entire Scandinavian land alongside his violent pack mates. In the way of his plans stands the King, eager to execute the remaining wolfdog population and cement his hold of the throne. At the end of the day, who will reign victorious?

R A N A
female | 2 yrs. 9 m. | Highvalley Court ~ Provider | Border Collie mix
Location: Highvalley Court Walls | Mentions: Derrien, Dag, Beocca [directly]

Rana was an odd one to be sure, and once Dag seemed to pay her little mind, she grew comfortable in her own skin once more. The blond dog beside her held enough spunk and conversation for the three of them, though the dark shepherd was content enough to keep up with them. And Rana was just as content to watch them talk as they were to do so. Derrien's latest suggestion didn't hold fast long in the air before a new presence was filling the rocky space and Rana had to force the fur on her haunches down. She hadn't noticed it before but this new brute made her suddenly painfully aware how outnumbered her gender was becoming.

The male certainly resembled Derrien, but where the provider's coat was blond, Beocca's was as black as night, and he stood taller and thicker than the provider would ever be. When pale green eyes met his, all Rana could see was an arrogant indifference that made her back legs quiver and then tense with an anxious energy. It was once again a struggle to contain the urge to let her fur ruffle along her spine. His growling voice only grated her ears and had her raising a paw indignantly at what he presumed to be a smirk left in her direction. When he finally turned tail to lead them off on this elk hunt, Rana was the first to fall in at his backside, hoping to unnerve whatever presumption he was currently having about females in that dimwitted skull of his. His immediate disregard of her presence had her grinding her teeth.

"In which direction did you scent them?" Not one for small talk, and especially not with this male, Rana hardly glanced in Beocca's direction, her tail rising, but not enough to challenge his position as current leader nor knight. "Do you know if it was the last of the herd, or possibly still the front?" Elk herds could be vast when it was migrating season and if you caught the wrong end, the deer could be much too strong and much too fast for even their best dogs. So it definitely mattered which ones the knight had been scenting. They could likely find one to single out nonetheless, but planning made things easier, Rana had learned. Her ears flicked towards the black, wire-coated dog expectantly.

Mimicry
Non-binary (female pronouns for simplicity)/ 4 years, 11 months/ Saluki / Omega of High-valley
Mentions: Faline (indirectly), Saba (indirectly), Alexandra (directly)

"It's just my built." Mimicry snapped at the knight before making her way out of the dungeons, only glancing back at Saba and Faline.
"And Brindle was the one who suggested the gutting. I'm perfectly sane unlike the... unfortunate Brindle. And I'd be happy to help you carry the things." She added once out of earshot, a bit afraid Alexandra would be upset with her suddenly snapping.
