The leader's eyes twinkled suddenly, a deep purring laugh in his chest. "That's good, we can't have our best cats going hungry." While he remained with his straight and proud posture, his muzzle had curled into an amused wrinkle. There was something about talking to cats that had lived, seen trial and trial again that made the tom feel more at ease. Seeing them gave him hope for the future of all the cats in his care. However, he knew if he lingered the old cats would get suspicious, or complain he was slacking. They liked to tease that cats only came to them for help and never just to enjoy their company, and while it was true Swiftstar had far more than just pleasantries on his mind, had he the time he would sit and share tales until the sun fled the sky.

"I do have something to ask of you, of you all." His gaze shifted to Russetflight, who was also nearby then back again.
"What are your thoughts on this, prophecy?" He shifted ever so slightly on his paws. It was something that had prickled the toms mind since Shadowleaf had received the message, and there were no better cats who's life experience gave them the knowledge and advice he sought than the ones before him.
"I know there is no use worrying over things that have yet to come, but you have lived through struggle before." He paused, then his mew lowered, a sparkle in his pale depths. "Yet one would never know by looking at you." He purred.

Shadowkit & Littkekit | Honeykit, StripedTail

The two listened to the deputy, nodding their heads before looking at Honeykit as StripedTail walked away. Of course they would prove that they were worth the effort of keeping around, they would show that they would help the clan and be just as loyal as any cat born into the clan. Looking at Honeykit when she asked if they wanted to come with her, Littlekit shook his head, "I wanted to go talk to some of the warriors, start to learn the rules." And with a flick of his tail he scampered off to find one of the clan warriors. Shadowkit watched his brother run off before turning back to Honeykit with a happy purr, "I'd love to join you. I'm sure the elders know so much more than any warrior could tell anyway."

HoneyKit

HoneyKit nuzzled him in thanks. "Thank you. Really, the elders are cool. So many stories!" She beamed, padding towards the elders den. She sent greetings to the elders when she walked in and began to groom them, nodding at shadowkit to do the same.

StripedTail deputy open

StripedTail yawned exhaustion taking over he padded towards the middle of the clearing and laid down, this way if any cat needed him he would be able to give them easy access. Laying his paw's down he drifted into sleep

Shadowkit | In the elders den with Honeykit

He followed Honeykit across the clearing and into the den, dipping his head in a respectful greeting to the Elders before sitting down and starting to check the nearest cat for ticks and cracking any that he found.

HoneyKit edged closer to shadowkit, still listning to the elders stories. "So, if you dont mind me asking, where did you come from?" HoneyKit asked, her honey-glaze face lighting up in curiosity. She smiled, cocking her head to the side as she waited for her friend to answer.

His ears went down at the question of where he came from, glancing at her before looking away, "I lived with my family in a twoleg nest. My brother and I were the first born of about eight. We had a big family and we were happy. Well, we were until my siblings started disappearing. One by one they were gone until it was just my brother and I. It was amazing there, we had all we could ever want and more. But it was a lie."

HoneyKit gasped. Noting his expression she cried in a squeak "Oh no, shadowkit! It's ok! Your safe here now!" She reassured, nuzzling him gently. She smiled. "You'll be alright here! You have me, after all!" HoneyKit beamed at him.

He smiled warmly at her, nodding g slowly, "Yeah, I know that. And I'm glad you don't think differently of me like most of our clanmates do. I don't see why it matters to them. Shouldn't it just matter that there's two more here who will fight for them? To help out." He sighed and flicked his tail, "I mean, I know we have to go through training and we have to prove ourselves, but until then, couldn't they hold their judgement back? They don't know us at all, they only know where we came from..."

HoneyKit clicked her tongue. "They are more frightened than anything right now. Starclan sent messages to the clans about death an' stuff and cats are freaking out." She said, rolling her eyes. "Honestly, they need to pull themselves together" She muttered, then turned back to shadow kit with a smile. "Im sure they'll warm up to you."

He nodded as he listened to Honeykit, flicking his tail as he shrugged, "I dunno, I'd freak out if I got sent messages about death too. That's kind of a serious thing. I mean.... My brother and I were left to die out in the forest."

HoneyKit nodded. "Yeah, i'd be terrified." She meowed, flicking her tail. She smiled at him. "Well, good thing your here now." She said, grinning. "Now, when were apprentices, i can battle train with yoiu!' She grinned devilishly.

Gingerfanf watched from her own comfortable corner in the elders' den as the kits talked about. She twitched a ginger ear as she listened to them. Getting bored as their conversation soon became more kit-like, eager looking kits wanting to be apprentices, the old she-cat laid down on her side. She stretched out her paws and let out a little yawn. "I'm sure the other clan cats will except you and your brother, Shadowkit." Gingerfang meowed. "You're just kits and have a lot to prove, and you can learn a lot. You may be use full to the clan someday. If you train right of course." She mewed giving her paw a lick and lazily dragging it over her head. She wondered if the kits would even listen, they seemed to be moving on to a new topic. She herself didn't mind the kits, she just hoped they would respect their elders. That was her only worry with the kits. Such few cats had as much respect for their elders as she did when she was a young cat! She had always made sure the elders had enough food, comfortable beds, company, and no ticks and fleas. Yet, hardly any cat cared about that now-a-days, with the new prophecy and all.
