Ecadius, a land forgotten by those who failed to seek it.
◂━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━▸

There was the mist of gray and white that accompanied the ferry as they floated through; the thick congestion ahead provided their only indicator that they were growing nearer. In any other circumstance, they would’ve been lost to the sea, bobbing on the saltwater surface without a clue to why the waves had swept them so far away. Should the weather prove favorable, then come by evening, they’d reach the shores whole and well, avoiding a deplorable fate that would normally plague such turbulent waters.

Muffled as they were, the sea fizzed like a newly opened carbonated beverage, the perpetual white noise that droned on and on since the very moment that they’ve boarded the ferry early that morning. It was relatively dull, too dull compared to what waited for them in the enigmatic island. The surrounding benches were filled with determined souls such as yourself, eager to prove themselves much like how their parents did before them. Their bubble of raw spirit extended far into the desolate waters, far enough for the biting cold to be no more than a minor irritation to the bent, however resolute future riders of Ecadius.

Overboard, the waters were writhing and foaming against the hull of the ferry, sloshing here and there like waves upon a beaten shoreline before subsiding with an alluring calm that kept onlookers mesmerized, long enough for the aching of their bones to fade, akin to the receding foam that fizzled out of existence. You failed to understand how deep the waters were until a soft glow appeared beneath the water’s surface, barely illuminating the premises like a lit match in a dim, cavernous space.

What is that?

{ Matteo Lee | Male | 17 }
Rider-to-be | Location: Ferry | Mentions: Anu, others on the deck

Typically, Matteo would have been up on his feet and holding down his excitement. He had been waiting for the trip since he was invited to the Port. Yet to his dismay, the boy had fallen asleep in the cabin of the ship, slumped on the corner of a bench with his head resting on his shoulder. Last he checked, there were still others speaking in hushed whispers around him. How long had he been out? As he pushed his glasses back up the bridge of his nose, Teo couldn't spot many of the future riders. They must have gone out to the deck. Perhaps they were getting close to their destination? He rubbed the back of his wrist over sleep-heavy brown eyes and trotted out the cabin door.

He barely took a step into the cold, damp atmosphere before he nearly tumbled backwards. The hands previously tucked in his pockets flew out to grab the railings lining the deck, eyes blown wide. With both shock and admiration, it seemed. Surrounded by a group of passengers, a beautiful feathered beast accepting the gentle strokes of another rider-to-be. Matteo started advancing slowly, shooting a glance through squinting eyes into the fog. He could see specks of people on the docks, and deemed the dragon one of theirs. Turning his gaze back at the creature, he examined it from head to toe, sliding in with the small gathered crowd. Avius, by the look of it. The dragon had the same build and feathers as his uncle's companion. As contrasting as her colors were, the dragon was mesmerizing. "She's stunning." He replied quietly, still careless to those around him.

Friedhelm had beamed when the Avius had turned to him, only awkwardly backing off when all of the others had made her turn away, face flushed as he shuffled back towards his things. He gave a smile to anyone that called him cool, even though he could've just shrugged it off as something silly. It wasn't helpful, just a silly party trick.

He looked around when he got back to the railing, trying to see if he could catch a glimpse of the docks yet, trying to guess how much longer the ride would be. Once he gave up trying to see through the fog, he sat himself down on the slimy deck and pulled out a leatherbound book or two, perfectly content with everything around him. He turned himself slightly as he pried a pencil out of the tiny pocket in his bag, trying to get a good look at the beast as he flipped to an empty page of the book and began to try and draw the gorgeous dragon.

⇺ [ Alistair Simmons ] ⇻
30 Years |•| Male |•| Chancellor
Location: Ferry Docks |•| Mentions: William, Barra (Directly) / Anu, Riders-to-be (Indirectly)

It would be safe to assume Alistair wasn't pacified by Barra's answer if the frown currently crossing his face was anything to go by. Wild dragons couldn't always be controlled and the drifters didn't often create all that much chaos while shepherding ferries to the isle, but he would have hoped trained dragons would be less impulsive. "The next time we have a group of riders-to-be arriving I suggest keeping her better occupied," he huffed, though he would soon have to bite his tongue as a pale shimmer could be glimpsed through the mist, heading toward the ship rapidly.

Not wishing to be outdone, it appeared Specter was shadowing Anu. It figured in the middle of an admonishment his own dragon would misbehave. Hoping his companions hadn't seen her and things wouldn't get too out of hand, Alistair was quick to change the subject, William providing such an opportunity once he mentioned Artemis. "Indeed," he confirmed, hoping for her sake she was being extra vigilant. "I asked her to escort the riders here as per usual. I'm sure if there are any issues she'll able to resolve them."

Name: Barra Bellicent | Gender: Female| Age: 25 Role: vice-chancellor and dragon biology mentor| Location: dock | Barra Mentions: William, Alistair [direct] | Anu Mentions: Jaclyn [direct] riders-to-be on ferry [indirectish]

Barra could tell that Alistair was worried about Anu wreaking havoc but she could muster no comforting words besides what she had said before. She let William do the talking regarding her own dragon, she scolded herself for being lazy. When William greeted her with a small, half-hearted salute a small obligatory smile breached her lips. " No need for the formalities William, " She murmured, her eyes shifting away from William back out to the pass. Barra looked at Alistair briefly when she was reprimanded. She spotted the pale shimmer of Alistairs own dragon escaping to join Anu in her mischief. Spector would most likely cause a much bigger ruckus than Anu would or could attempt. Yet Barra didn't say anything and dropped her gaze to the ground in idle submission. " I'll have her preoccupied next time, " Barra said in a deadpan serious voice before bringing her gaze up to the waters.

" Yes, I'm sure no serious issues will arrive, surely nothing worse than in the past, " Barra commented her yellowish green eyes peering out at the fog. Barra knew she wouldn't catch a glimpse of them till they were just a few yards away from the dock so she eventually gave up. She began to focus more on her posture and once again checking her clothes to make sure they were perfect as possible. Once she was satisfied she became still as a statue, determined to make a good first impression upon the arrival of the riders-to-be. She was the vice-chancellor, she had to look the part. In her mind at least. After all, not many people went to the trouble of wearing a uniform, in fact, Barra didn't know anyone on the island who confined themselves to a uniform.

Anu enjoyed the murmurs of the juvenile humans around her, knowing all of them were about her. Yet she was happier about the person who was showering her with affection which the avius promptly returned with whirrs, chirps, and nuzzles. Anu closed her eyes briefly before opening them and pulling her head away. Her nostrils twitched and she could tell Specter was approaching. Anu wanting to enjoy all the attention she had now spread her multicolor wings to bedazzle the riders of the ferry. Then she tucked them and went back towards Jaclyn, who she promptly circled. When she was behind the young woman she settled into a crouch, compacting herself to as small as she could be and crawled in between the bride-to-be's legs. She didn't stop until Jaclyn was standing just behind her wings. Anu slowly rose up to her full height, hoping the rider to be would stay on. Suddenly with a brief glance at Jaclyn, her wings spread and then Anu was airborne with the possibility of a rider-to-be on her back.

Name: Artemis Ramsey | Gender: Female | Age: 26 | Role: Leviathan-Class Mentor| Location: Ferry | Mentions: Riders-To-Be, Anu and spectre(directly)

With the weather being the way it was, Artemis had spent most of the trip running between the back deck to check up on Lei, and the captains quarters, passing on any information of the waters below. Eventually, she caught a break. Or, well, she decided to take one, seeing as a rather fancy dragon had decided to make an unscheduled appearance. Without particular rush to her steps, the leviathan mentor walked out to the front steps, footsteps echoing just slightly on the hollow floor. "Anu, you better have permission to be here, or so help me I'll chase you with a broom." There was no hostility to her words, but there was still a note of seriousness. After all, the dragons of all fully trained riders were supposed to follow orders. Especially when it came to the safety of any new rider.

Once she was about five feet away from the Avius's side, Artemis paused to take a look at all the riders. Some of them were being too bold for her liking; it was never a smart idea to make yourself so vulnerable to a strange dragon, no matter how kindly it presents itself. Wild dragons could be dastardly smart, and there have been too many incidents in the past with new and experienced riders alike to prove this. "You'd better stay away from the water, Anu. Lei is prowling around, and he may not see you clearly if you fly too low. We don't need any more incidents between the two of you."

Looking up was a mistake. Noting the white gleam quickly approaching from the island, Artemis sighed. Great. Anu, Spectre, and Lei-Gilthi all surrounded by bright-eyed trainees. Just what she needed. With pursed lips, she leaned back onto her heels. and eyes the new dragon as it cam in to land. The mentor then cast it a slightly disapproving look. At least she could guarantee that Alistair had some control over this one. "And you, too? Please don't knock anyone into the water, at least. I don't feel like going for a swim with all those drifters around."

Name: Nikolai Vaughn | Gender: Male | Age: 18 | Role: Rider-to-be
Location: Ferry | Mentions: Jaclyn, Artemis, Anu, Specter [Indirect]

The ferry had grown rowdier and louder, which was to be expected, but this time around it wasn’t the drifters’ dazzling gleam that was to be blamed. To have an audience with a dragon in the flesh had that effect, he reckoned, to be this close and personal was an experience only possible in fantasies or dreams of which he had way too many of. Though he was a bit ashamed to be this flustered knowing that the island had more to offer than the rambunctious avius and docile drifters; some were simply downright beastial from what he had read. Nikolai would have hoped to at least reach the island not looking like a ripened tomato, however, if there was anything to take away from the avius’s rather touchy personality, he feared his wistful wishing was futile at best, thus he had to get away from their close proximity pronto.

As the avius’s attention was swiftly whisked away, courtesy of Jaclyn who had bigger balls than he did from the looks of it, Nikolai took the opportunity to safely relocate to a location that wasn’t within the dragon’s periphery, looking quite relieved while he was at it as he settled amongst the crowd as a chameleon would. In any other circumstance, he would’ve shared Jaclyn’s enthusiasm, although he was far better off being in the sidelines, for now, opting to stare than the conventional reaction that some riders-to-be were prone on doing.

An authoritative voice of indiscernible origin had his eyes flicker briefly from the dragon and toward where he suspected the voice to have come from. The woman, despite her stature, was quick to identify by virtue of the drastic contrast to the overly eager and excitable riders-to-be that surrounded her, as well as her peculiar hairstyle and--well, she was much older than the rest of us, unless middle-aged individuals were qualified to be rider-to-bes. From the way she had greeted the avius as one would to an old friend, it was relatively safe to assume that the dragon wasn’t wild, though she’s still quite free-spirited despite that fact. The woman, on the other hand, must be a supervisor of some sort; perhaps an educator like the ones he read about? Either way, Nikolai guarded his assumptions to save himself the humiliation of being wrong. She looked like the sort that didn’t tolerate such.

Loud, and labored beating of wings later captured his attention. In the horizon, as if one with the mist and haze, a white figure flew over the water’s surface, its reflection upon the sea distorted, like a crudely made replica. ‘’Christ. ‘’ He muttered, able to deduce what species it could be even from this distance. Those horns, in particular, were a dead give away. ‘’An albino wyvern? ‘’

When neither of his companions pointed out Specter's pale form vanishing into the mist he relaxed a fraction, though it didn't stop the irritation he felt toward his dragon partner. Specter knew better than to cause too much trouble, but he'd specifically asked the wyvern to keep herself in check. Alistair supposed this was as good a reminder as any that even tamed dragons couldn't always be controlled, and as such, his formerly critical gaze had softened the next time he glanced Barra's way, as much of an apology for the scolding as she would receive.

A familiar shimmering glow beneath the water's surface caught his eye a moment or so later. "Right on time, The ferry should be here any minute then," he commented, sounding relieved. He doubted the drifters would have returned to the docks if anything especially chaotic were occurring, though a fearsome roar in the distance saw his expression grow taut with exasperation, bright bursts of light faintly visible through the fog. Specter was showing off and he could only hope she would reign herself before she set the boat on fire, or worse, burned someone.

He liked to think she had more control than that, but even after all these years together Specter could still prove unpredictable. The gentle click of tiny claws against wooden planks failed to distract him, though he remained remarkably still as a miniaturized version of the drifters swimming below launched herself up his body until she could stand across his shoulders. A soft chirr of greeting filled his ear as Jade made herself comfortable, no doubt eager to greet the new riders once they arrived.

◂━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━▸

⇺ [ Jaclyn Casey ] ⇻
19 Years |•| Female |•| Rider-To-Be
Location: Ferry |•| Mentions: Anu, Artemis, Nikolai, Rafe (Directly)

As Anu spread her wings, presenting the future riders surrounding her with a magnificent display of color, Jaclyn found herself further enraptured. Whoever was bonded with this dragon was one lucky person. "Do you know what this species is called?" She asked aloud, assuming either of the men she just met might have an answer considering they clearly knew more about these creatures than she did. When Anu crept behind her Jaclyn moved to follow the action, not foolish enough to allow a predator to catch her unawares despite her awe, but much to her shock she hadn't quite been quick enough. The next thing she knew Anu had crawled between her legs so she was now settled on the avius' back.

As Anu lifted into the sky she hastily wrapped her arms around her neck, uncertain where to put her hands and not wishing to pull on her feathers. In truth, this was a bit unexpected and her heart thrummed against her rib-cage as panic began to set in. What if she fell off and fell into the ocean with the drifters or worse, what if Anu flew off with her and they landed somewhere uninhabited? Releasing her grip, she slid from Anu's back before she was too far into the air, landing rather gracelessly beside Rafe. "Thanks for the offer, Anu," she called up after composing herself, catching what Artemis had called the dragon as she approached them. "But I don't think I'm ready for a ride yet."

The sound of flapping soon drew her attention to the sky as another dragon came hurtling toward them. This one was much larger. Ghostly white scales covered her body rather than vibrant feathers and her eyes were as red as freshly spilled blood. The wyvern spiraled through the air in an impressive display, a roar so loud Jaclyn's hands moved to cover her ears emitted from her maw moments before bursts of electric blue fire lit up the sky. She flew rapid circles around the ferry, her hind claws occasionally skimming the water as if she were playfully teasing something despite the fact the drifters' glow had faded, causing her to cast a suspicious glance over the railing toward the waves before her attention returned to their newest visitor.

Artemis scolded this dragon in much the same way she had Anu and the wyvern's head tilted as she hovered above them, making an innocuous clicking nose before rising higher into the air. Jaclyn assumed this dragon, while a bit more unnerving compared to the beautiful avius, was relatively safe. She definitely wouldn't be trying to pet that one right off the bat though.

{ Matteo Lee | Male | 17 }
Rider-to-be | Location: Ferry | Mentions: Anu, Specter, others on the deck

Despite the brilliant colors flashed before him, Matteo was quickly pulled to the rail at the sight of a gleaming white ripple skimming right above the ferry. He could catch the smallest glimpses of crimson embedded in the creature's head, two eyes almost glowing like two miniature red lamps. Were all dragons so mesmerizing? His uncle's old black-and-white photograph did not capture the beauty of the creatures. All the boy could do was hang over the fence with the sea breezes threatening to knock the round glasses right off his face, craning his head upwards as he watched the flames dance with the mist.

"Simply gorgeous." Matteo had never been one to be intimidated by the natural world, and the wyvern fascinated him as a puppy fascinates a child. She must have come from the docks after the vibrant Avius, who seemed to be eager to carry a girl into the air. Pity, she didn't take the offer. The thrill would have been absolutely breathtaking.

Name: Artemis Ramsey | Gender: Female | Age: 26 | Role: Leviathan-Class Mentor| Location: Ferry | Mentions: Riders-To-Be, Anu and spectre(directly)

In an effort to remain calm, Artemis closed her eyes and took a deep breath in, slowly letting the spent air out through her mouth, before deciding to face the issue at hand. "Anu, *never* try that again. What if they panicked and fell? We can't have broken bones or sprained joints on the first day." She was trying her best to give minimal attention to Spectre, knowing that that's exactly what the great beast wanted. It was a bit hard though, when the damn thing kept *reflecting the sun straight into her eyes*. "And you up there. Go back to shore *right now*. You'll have plenty of time to show off your pretty scales once we are on solid ground." She didn't know if it would help much, but it was worth a shot.

Then, it was calm for all of three seconds, before something started thrashing rather violently near the front of the boat. This was followed right after with a colossal roar, and Artemis sighed again. At a quick but restrained pace, she pushed through the bewildered trainees to go see exactly what Lei was doing. Once she reached the railing, a quick glance into the frothing water was all it took for the pieces to fall together. It looked like one of the drifters got a bit testy, and Lei felt like showing off. So, of course he attacked it, hoping to garner some attention for himself. He definitely got the attention of his rider, who felt about ready to jump into the water and give him a good smack. "Lei-Gilthi you overgrown *lizard* now is *not* the time." Of course, all he did was grunt and splash water at the boat in retort. Fine, no treats for him.

Name: Cennetic MacNamara | Gender: Male | Age: 19 | Role: Rider-to-be| Location: Docks | Mentions: Alistair,William, Barra

Though he had been slow to wake up and face the day, Cennetig had finally made it over to the docks. Lightish footsteps gave away his approach, though he wasn't keen on hiding it anyways. "Morning all, did I miss anything fun?" Hopefully not yet, since he could only barely make out the ferry in the distant mist. Though the distinct lack of dragons felt a bit off. It was like this every year, of course, and he would know since he'd come see the new riders-to-be every year since he was eight. He'd hoped to have joined last years class, but the time didn't feel right quite then. Now though, he was certain there was a dragon waiting for him. He was ready.

"Wonder if they got rained on at all? The clouds don't look so nice." Idle conversation kept spewing from his mouth, trying to burn off nervous energy. Did he just hear a dragon roar? This one sounded a bit like Artemis's dragon, but he couldn't say for sure from this distance. "You guys know what's happening out there?" He wasn't usually this talkative, unless he was trying to get himself out of trouble. And now was thankfully not one of those times.

Name: William Maxwell | Gender: Male | Age: 27
Role: Terra-Class Mentor | Location: Docks | Mentions: Cennetig [Direct] Lei, Specter, Anu [ID]

Beneath the docks, Theodosia was busy with her machinations, of which William wasn’t keen on being involved in. He supposed that he should at least savor the few moments of peace since the pygmy’s retreat, knowing full well that any moment now, she’d soon emerge with better ways to torment him from the shadowy depths of the wooden foundations of the docks; a habit she’d grown quite fond of. ‘’Cennetig. ‘’ William managed to say, his thorough yet cursory glance through the mist saw to it that the rider-to-be was no more than a few feet behind them. ‘’You’d have more fun if you stayed at camp, you know. Don’t you think coming here yearly is getting a bit repetitive? ‘’ The young man’s footsteps rendered the silence obsolete, the quick succession of his questions effectively keeping William’s thoughts out of the more stressful details regarding the ferry.

As if on cue, Theodosia chose this moment to lift her head up between two planks of wood, though her attention was firmly focused elsewhere than usual and towards the vacant waterway, her sensitive whiskers flickering at the ends as if registering the faintest disturbance in the air. Like Cennetig had pointed out, distant cries of a dragon; deep and guttural like the ones that normally echo in the Wetlands, could be heard, and it didn’t take a genius to deduce that it was none other than Lei, which only meant one thing. ‘’They’re here. ‘’ He announced, though he reckoned his companions had already known even without his help.

The hull of the ferry first breached the deep haze of white and gray, groaning from the weight of its passengers and the unwanted added luggage of a pair of dragons judging by their faint silhouettes. ‘’When did Specter get there? ‘’

Name: Barra Bellicent | Gender: Female| Age: 25 Role: vice-chancellor and dragon biology mentor| Location: dock | Barra Mentions: William, Alistair, Cennetig [direct] Ferry [indirect]

Barra cocked a brow as she heard footsteps approaching. She had almost started to think that Cennetig wasn't coming this year. She listened in an idle manner as the rider-to-be tried to start a conversation. Yet since she wasn't one for conversation and the ferry was almost here she did not engage. The rather left it up to William and Allistair to talk to him. Barra wanted her focus to solely be on the ferry and did not want to be distracted when it finally breached the mist and came into view, she did not want to look distracted either. As if summoned the ferry's hull pierced the thick muggy fog like a sharp blade, effectively revealing its cargo. There were riders-to-be, which was to be expected and two dragons which for Barra was also expected as she had noticed Spector slipping off earlier. Barra crossed her arms when she noticed the smaller dragon was a few feet above the boat. Barra knew that was Anu and that she had done something she shouldn't have.

A low whistle came from Barra's lips and Anu left the ferry, flying back to Barra. " You little devil, " Barra whispered in Anu's ear and gave her dragon a strong pat on the neck. In an apology, Anu nuzzled the back of Barra's neck with a soft chirr. All Anu got in sympathy was the roll of Barra's eyes and hand pushing her away. Barra fixed the hairs that her dragon had messed up and crossed her arms once more. She stood on the balls of her feet in a discreet manner trying to be just an inch taller so that she didn't look like such a dwarf compared to the three men who stood nearby. She did not want to be seen as lesser than what she really was because of her height. Barra knew no one would probably even be thinking about how tall she is because of all the excitement much less judging her for it, but it didn't stop her from worrying about it.

Myai Gene | Female | 17 | Rider-to-be | Ferry | Mentions: Matteo (direct), riders-to-be (indirect)

After dazing off into space, an avius had pulled her back into reality, watching it carefully and looking it over. It seemed like a lovely creature, but nothing of her interest. Her brown eyes just seemed to haze away as the creature flew away, climbing back to her feet to force herself to stay in touch with reality. This was something that she didn't do often, but she was honestly bored. Yes, the dragons were mesmerizing, but she found no attraction to any of the classes she has seen so far. What she desired most was to see a Terra-Class dragon, like what her father had when he was her age.

Myai picked up a faint whisper out of the blue, raising her brown orbs to a dazed off male who just seemed to awaken. With a raised brow, she picked up her feet and forced herself to be social. The girl would cross her arms over her chest and nudge Matteo's arm with her elbow. "Fan of bright colors?" She asked, raising a brow once more, shifting her feet underneath her to find a comfortable stance.

She could tell he was sort of a loner in most eyes by the way he slightly isolated himself, a moment of the water moving by and other riders murmuring about on the ferry between the two until she got a reply. Glancing at the boy, she could tell he was from Korean descent possibly?

He wasn't exactly a fan of sudden contact. The jolt in his arm very nearly made him jump, likely falling into the unforgiving grey-blue waters below. Instead, Matteo flinched just slightly before turning his head to the side and offering an awkward smile. The girl had good intentions, it seemed, and it shouldn't bother him too much to acquaint himself with other Riders-to-be.

"The Avius is fascinating, but that one is absolutely captivating, isn't she?" He regained his balance leaning over the railing, one hand pushing the bridge of his glasses back up his nose as he squinted at the patch of mist and clouds in which the (albino?) dragon had dissipated in. Teo had always been one to look away from the things right before his eyes, instead glancing to the side and admiring the little things that others don't always notice. Deeming the creature now invisible to the human eyes, the boy looked back to the girl and her ashen blond hair. "Do you know what type it is?" He referred to the ghost-like specimen that just skimmed the water's face, though unsure if she had even seen it at all. Matteo is awkward like that.

Location: Ferry Docks |•| Mentions: Barra, William, Cennetig (Directly) / Riders-to-be (Indirectly)

Alistair's coppery gaze remained trained ahead of him, searching for any sign of the ferry or his dragon through the fog. Cennetig's approach did little to distract him and similarily to Barra, he left William to answer any questions the younger man had and converse with him. A roar in the not so far distance seemed to indicate the future riders were drawing closer and sure enough, the ferry appeared only a minute or so later. William's comment concerning both the ferry and Specter were met with silence, his eyes narrowing as Specter whooshed by overhead, the momentum from her wings pushing a powerful burst of wind against the people standing on the docks.

Bracing himself, an arm was lifted to defend his face from the assaulting blast of air, but he otherwise remained in place. Jade wasn't so lucky, chittering in aggravation as she was knocked from Alistair's shoulders by the gust, managing to land on her feet in much the same way a cat would. To say Alistair was less than pleased with his partner's antics was an understatement and under different circumstances, he would have given her a good scolding, but there was little time now with the ferry so close to the port. Besides, from the sound of Jade's retreating pawsteps and increasingly loud shrieking, she was on her way to tell Specter off herself.

A hand moved to fuss with his hair, but he eventually gave fixing it up as a lost cause and turned to ascertain his company was no worse for wear. Upon confirming such, he regarded Barra for a moment before speaking. "I want you to greet the riders this year," he announced. Normally he took care of that himself, but Barra was proving herself more than capable as vice-chancellor and he wanted to start giving her more opportunities to take charge and lead in her own right. "Do you think you're ready for that?"

⇺ [ Jaclyn Casey ] ⇻
19 Years |•| Female |•| Rider-To-Be
Location: Ferry |•| Mentions: Anu, Artemis, Lei-Gilthi, Matteo, Myai

Jaclyn watched as the Avius rose higher into the sky without her, regret momentarily washing over her until she heard Artemis lecturing the feathered beast. While it definitely would have been a once-in-a-lifetime experience Jaclyn concluded her safety was probably worth more than an interesting story. Besides, she suspected there would be other opportunities once they reached the island. "Goodbye Anu! It was nice meeting you!" She called after the departing dragon, waving after her though it was unlikely Anu would see the gesture at this point as her colorful form disappeared within the mist.

The sound of splashing followed by an impressive roar saw her return to the railing, gripping the cold metal between her hands as she peered over the edge, catching sight of the brief scuffle between a Drifter and another new species she was unfamiliar with before the former fled and the latter received a rather amusing scolding. "Is that one yours?" Jaclyn asked Artemis curiously once she seemed to have the situation under control, recognizing there was a familiarity between them, perhaps even more than Artemis had shared with either Anu or the white dragon.

Speaking of which, Specter appeared to have heeded Artemis little mind, a puff of smoke emitting from her nostrils before vanishing into the fog only to reappear every few moments, gliding alongside the ferry as if reminding them all she was still with them. One boy, in particular, seemed to have caught her eye Jaclyn noticed. As they neared the port Specter drifted closer to the side of the ship Matteo and Myai currently resided on, blowing a puff of hot, but not scalding air at the pair before finally lifting higher into the sky and seemingly disappearing for good.

Name: Artemis Ramsey | Gender: Female | Age: 26 | Role: Leviathan-Class Mentor| Location: Ferry | Mentions: Jaclyn(direct), Riders-To-Be, Alistair Anu and spectre(indirect)

Tired of dealing with her overgrown child, Artemis turned to greet whichever girl just approached her. "Sometimes I wonder why we chose each other. But yes, that one is without a doubt my dragon." Since said dragon hadn't made a sound in a few moments, she looked back down the the now moderately calm water. Then, not seeing him, looked ahead of the boat. Towards the docks. She could only just make out a few figures standing in the mist. She'd have to have a word with the chancellor later. "It seems like he's gone to join the other two to put on a better show, the damned beast. And you, girl, you seem calm for someone given an impromptu ride on a strange dragon. I assume you've been told stories growing up?"

One could almost always tell a new riders familiarity with dragons. If you looked careful enough, you could tell the difference between caution and general shyness. This girl seemed to have neither trait. This would usually mean that someone in her family made her well aware of what was happening. Those kinds of trainees could be both the bet and worst to deal with, depending on how cocky they got with their still limited knowledge. She didn't seem like she'd be too much trouble though, unlike Cennetig. Speaking of, Artemis wondered if he'd find someone in this group to compete with. That should be a good enough distraction for him to stop with his games. But that was probably too much to hope for.

Name: Cennetig MacNamara | Gender: Male | Age: 19 | Role: Rider-to-be| Location: Docks | Mentions: William(direct), Alistair, Barra, Spectre(indirect)

"Can't say I would," Cennetig mused in response. "I like seeing their faces when they get off the boat. Better than the stale chatter happening back at camp." Not that he didn't like those already from the island, but there just wasn't much to talk about until the new trainees join them. Just then, a blast of wind nearly sent the distracted boy into the waters below. Muttering out a cuss as he caught himself, Cennetigs eyes followed spectre with hesitance. He really did love that dragon, but she was a bit of a loose cannon. Once she seemed to be a safe distance away, he turned back to watch the ship, eyes moving back every so often just to stay safe.

"Oh, would it be too early to ask who's cabin I'm gonna join? I've packed up already, but I'd like to claim a bed before it's cramped with a bunch of excited teenagers if at all possible." It was almost certainly too much to ask for, but hey, it was worth a shot. And for the umpteenth time that day, he started to wonder about his future partner. Would he find them soon? Would it be from an egg, like most kids, or as an adult, like Artemis? What kind of dragon would it be? He didn't really have a favourite breed, but speed was a plus.
