Ecadius, a land forgotten by those who failed to seek it.
◂━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━▸

There was the mist of gray and white that accompanied the ferry as they floated through; the thick congestion ahead provided their only indicator that they were growing nearer. In any other circumstance, they would’ve been lost to the sea, bobbing on the saltwater surface without a clue to why the waves had swept them so far away. Should the weather prove favorable, then come by evening, they’d reach the shores whole and well, avoiding a deplorable fate that would normally plague such turbulent waters.

Muffled as they were, the sea fizzed like a newly opened carbonated beverage, the perpetual white noise that droned on and on since the very moment that they’ve boarded the ferry early that morning. It was relatively dull, too dull compared to what waited for them in the enigmatic island. The surrounding benches were filled with determined souls such as yourself, eager to prove themselves much like how their parents did before them. Their bubble of raw spirit extended far into the desolate waters, far enough for the biting cold to be no more than a minor irritation to the bent, however resolute future riders of Ecadius.

Overboard, the waters were writhing and foaming against the hull of the ferry, sloshing here and there like waves upon a beaten shoreline before subsiding with an alluring calm that kept onlookers mesmerized, long enough for the aching of their bones to fade, akin to the receding foam that fizzled out of existence. You failed to understand how deep the waters were until a soft glow appeared beneath the water’s surface, barely illuminating the premises like a lit match in a dim, cavernous space.

What is that?

Name: Barra Bellicent | Gender: Female| Age: 25 Role: vice-chancellor and dragon biology mentor| Location: dock | Barra Mentions: Alistair [Direct], Ferry [indirect]

Barra braced her self when Spector came, but like Alistair was able to stay on her feet. She tutted in an annoyed tone and began to tuck the hairs that had gone out of place back in. She straightened her ruffled collar and smoothed out any new wrinkles. When she finished she had gone back to watching the ferry when Alistair turned to her and she gave her attention to Alistair. When he said he wanted her to welcome the rider-to-be's, she felt her chest contract in apprehension, shock, but most of all excitement. Yet her expression remained the same as if she wasn't affected by Alistair's order. She swallowed the ball of tension that had been forming in her throat and lightly cleared it. " Ready as I'll ever be sir, " Barra said, her voice it's usual deadpan serious tone, but there was a faint giddiness to it.

Anu seemed keenly aware of what Barra was feeling and let out an encouraging chirp, raising her red crest. Barra let a small rare smile slip out on her face but it was gone a few seconds later. She needed to be serious. Barra edged herself a little closer to the end of the dock as she had been a foot or two away from it. Anu thankfully stayed put instead of following, the dragon had a tendency to 'forget' who strong she was when giving you a nuzzle. Barra did not feel like taking a swim in the chilly water especially when she was expected to greet the riders to be. That would be a disaster and a horrible first impression that she doubted would ever live down.

Name: Nikolai Vaughn | Gender: Male | Age: 18
Role: Rider-to-be | Location: Ferry | Mentions: Rafe, Artemis, Dock [Indirect]

When the curtain of mist parted as the hull breached through, it almost seemed magical to an extent; Narnia-like, if you will. His eyes contentedly scaled the sheer cliff face by their left with its innumerable craggy protrusions of granite and sandstone, a stark contrast to the green and dew coated pines on their right of which he spent quite a time observing, determined to at least catch a glimpse of a dragon, not that Anu and the white beast wasn’t impressive as is. They were tamed dragons, if Artemis’s casual exchange with them were anything to go by. They didn’t exactly exude the thrill and danger one would expect from their wilder counterpart, though they were dangerous all the same, a fact he’d surely remember regardless of how cocky he’d get lest he signs himself up for an early death.

Curiosity saw to it that he’d be spellbound to the metal railings much like everyone else was, watching with renewed interest as the heavy beat of wings weren’t far from earshot before subsiding to an abrupt stop as if the duo had landed up ahead, an area yet to be made visible by their growing proximity. As he looked on, his eye caught the slightest glimmer of blue that he was well acquainted with, recalling what Rafe had said regarding the bioluminescent dragons. It would seem as though the waters were growing shallower, the width of the waterway tapering gradually into a sizeable river where a concentrated group of Drifters would be easier to spot.

The glow proved helpful in keeping the fog at bay, increasing their range of vision at a considerable amount as to properly discern where Anu and Specter had gone off to. Their silhouettes were subtle, however, the overall shape was obvious enough for Nikolai to quickly identify them as such along with the peculiar humanoid figures.

Kiara Byrne|17 Years| Female| Rider-To-Be | Location: Ferry| Mentions: Anu, Dock

She had stayed back when Anu had landed on the rails of the ferry suddenly feeling nervous and becoming a rider and interacting with a strange dragon. Now that Anu had left she crept closer to the rails and zipped up her jacket this fog was cold. She was hopeful that a chance to explore the island but that probably wouldn't be allowed before she gets her dragon. Suddenly she realized that while she was lost in her head they were approaching the island she could see a dock and people standing on it.

Myai Gene | Female | 17 | Rider-to-be | Ferry | Mentions: Matteo, Jaclyn

The girl would raise her eyes to the boy as he asked if she knew whatever it was that he saw. Her eyes would squint in the puff of hot air, catching the dragon before it would disappear. "Um, I don't believe so? I'm only familiar with Avuis and the Crested Ridgeback." She commented, her eyes catching the gaze of a girl who looked their way. Her posture remained the same; her arms firmly crossed over her chest as she would lean mainly onto her left leg. Now that she strained to look through the steamy air that was blown at her and Matteo's face more than what she had to, she could tell they were close to the port. The very faint outline was nearly obvious what it was. As the puff of foggy air dispersed, the port was becoming more clearer despite being partially blind in her left eye due to a childhood accident.

The sight of the port only made her heart flutter in her chest. She wasn't easily nervous, but she honestly didn't know what to expect once they landed. Her mind would wonder in a million different way of what would happen. But the main question she had in mind was what dragon was going to claim her or vise versa? Was she going to follow her mother's trait line or her father's?

Name: William Maxwell | Gender: Male | Age: N/A | Role: Terra-Class Mentor
Location: Docks | Mentions: Barra, Alistair, Cennetig [Direct]

His surroundings came to focus at last, however at the expense of being in close proximity with a pod of rumbunctious dragons whose excessive splashing were the least of his worries, for he was confident that there were unseen dangers that followed an entourage such as this one. He’d often underestimate the range of their hyperactivity, especially one driven by curiosity so intense, it was practically palpable. He gave his companions a sideways glance, wary of certain ramifications that may occur once the riders were to offload. On board the ferry, blue uniforms were quick to catch his wandering gaze upon the bow of the ship, no doubt to assess the situation at hand much more thoroughly than he was at present. Whatever it was they saw at their angle, the look on their faces proved as much that preparations for unloading were now underway.

‘’Perhaps you two should quell the Drifters first? ‘’ He mused to Alistair and Barra, his eyes flickering between Anu and Specter. A fireshow won’t hurt when done in moderation, and it always proved successful in the past when driving away certain Leviathan-Class dragons. Drifters were a flighty bunch when it came to danger, although comparing it to cowardice would be a dangerous mistake, one that might cost an uneducated individual their life. As such, he wanted nothing more than having the dragons be dismissed posthaste. The scraping and clanging of heavy metal effectively diverted his gaze to the flank of the ship where a drawbridge-like contraption was being lowered snuggly onto the docks. Not realizing sooner that he was directly adjacent to the ferry, William almost made the mistake of not stepping back if not for Theodosia tugging at his pants. Beneath, Drifters weaved between pillars of wood and cement, their glow flashing through the crevices erratically.

‘’Cennetig, forgive me but you’ll have to step back for a bit. You’ll be informed of your cabins soon enough. ‘’ William said to the young man, fingers tightening on the spine of the book he was previously reading prior. Somehow, it felt sturdier than it did, as if the very pages weren’t on the verge of detaching, though he mused it was just his imagination.
