Hey all!

As mentioned within July 26th's Community Update news, we are considering implementing an official reverse breeding system to cut down on the possibility of these transactions going wrong.

What we'd like to see from you, the community, are some suggestions about how this could work and how it could best be implemented.

If you need some inspiration, here are some links to existing reverse breeding (or "studding") suggestion threads that have been created throughout the years:
* xXDruidXx (#74535), "Reverse studding ~ Making it reliable"
* FadedNobody [Cel|Smilus|20M] (#53386), "To Formally Reverse Stud Females"

We would ideally like to see suggestions made for a system that the community would actively use. We're open to hearing your input here, as we're determined to create a system that pleases as much of the community as possible while remaining convenient and understandable.

This thread will remain open until the big update posted on August 9th 2019, after which it will be locked and our admin team will review it for potential ideas!

This suggestion has 894 supports and 10 NO supports.

Makes sense a little. Another way to get around that is a waiting list, but the shorten cool down items would be nice for that too.

I can understand why people wouldn't like the idea if the lioness they wanted to breed with was on cool down and therefore off limits.

This is my suggestion in multiple parts (and I apologize if there's any repetition with previous suggestions, I went through the previous pages and didn't see anything). I'm only covering the pregnancy and splitting litters here since I agree with the previous responses about how the initial breeding should go. Feel free to ask for clarification, too since I might not be as clear as I think I am.

player 1 = owner of the lionesses - the person who offer the studding, player 2 = the person who purchased the reverse studding

* Regarding the pregnancy:
Since there are two players involved it would be uneven to have the duration of the pregnancy rely on one player's activity. For example, if player 1 didn't rollover for 3+ days and the pregnancy didn't progress or if player 2 attempted to skip rolling over (to preserve their king's lifespan or some other reason) until the pregnancy was complete based off player 1's rollovers.

Thus, I propose a sort of "limbo" for cubs, if player 1 rolls over often enough for the pregnancy to be completed but player 2 doesn't player 1 could lose valuable heats if the lioness continues to age or have their lioness "frozen" until player 2 completes the necessary roll overs (the latter option could be a factor for player 2 as well). Given that all of the details of cubs are decided at the breeding instead of their birth it seems like placing them in "limbo" could prevent either player from being negatively affected by the other's activity. The cubs would be held in this "limbo" until player 2 has completed the necessary roll overs for the cubs to be born.

* Regarding split litters:
For this I propose a system in which once the cubs are born and you can see all the information about them both players number their preferred cubs. So, in a four cub litter both players would number the cubs they want from 1-4 and the system would then deal out the cubs based off of that with first pick going to player 2 and so on until all of the cubs have been sorted. If the players had the same pick at any point player 2 would take priority and then player 1 would get the next cub in their list instead.

Taking into account mismatched activity levels through the pregnancy and once the cubs are born the same mechanics for cub selection would work but the cubs probably shouldn't be held in "limbo" until both players have been able to order which cubs they want. Instead, in the case of player 1 being inactive and not filling out their preferences once the cubs are able to be traded / cub trained (they would continue aging in "limbo" so long as player 2 was doing roll overs). At that time the cubs would be sorted based off of player 2's cub preferences with their first pick going to player 2, their second pick going to player 1 and so on. Though, this option could also be open to abuse if player 2 tried to "game" the system and set say the two tigon cubs as their 1 and 3 picks and player 1 didn't log on in time to enter their preferences.

If there is an uneven number of cubs in the litter then player 2 would always end up with the greater number of cubs. Choosing not to pick any of the cubs (for player 1) would also be an option but it would have to be a conscious choice and not an automatic result of inactivity.

If the lioness is on cool down, it can just say in big red text that y barks are required to breed her, or there could be a toggle in search for "in heat" like there is in trade search. I just feel like not allowing lionesses on cool down to be listed would make the whole feature a waste.

I'm definitely down for that method of cub splitting. I do think there should be an option when studding for the Player 1 (the person with the lioness) to give all cubs to the buyer, or designate the breeding as one which will require a splitting; splitting litters by default doesn't exactly seem like the best method, since it does come with so many problems.

If split litters are held off on as a future update after the system has simply been added, I would assume then that the default would have all cubs go to the buyer until the system has been implemented for split litters. But eventually I definitely think that split litters and whole litters need to be a thing. nd if the buyer gets all the cubs, it seems like it'd be best to either create a sort of wetnurse/surrogate mother female for them to be sent immediately post-birth, or to auto-age them in some form of 'limbo' until 5m so that the buyer can get them.

Otherwise, I fully support Sunita's version of pregnancy and splitting, for sure.
