A feminine, monotone voice echoes through the halls of a suburban family home, "An estimated 250 dogs live at the plant itself, 225 in the city of Chernobyl, and hundreds more roam around, for a total of more than 1,000, according to SPCA International. Wolves and the need for food have driven the dogs from wooded areas surrounding the plant into the Exclusion Zone." Suddenly, a sharper female voice cuts in. "Don't watch something so depressing, sweetie. The puppies are fine." The screen goes black.

setting music
The city is picturesque from the television screen. Though living amongst the crumbling, overgrown, radioactive buildings is another hell entirely. Dogs whose ancestors were abandoned by their masters in order to escape the explosion generations ago still remain here to this day, too far into the Exclusion Zone to be saved by any humans residing outside of Chernobyl. Many have been born with birth defects, sometimes visible but more often affecting their minds, organs and lifespans. Two major packs have risen out of the dust, Abolition and Insurgent. The packs have always been at odds but due to the encroachment of wolves and low resources, space is low and tempers are at an all time high. Can they come together to overcome the odds or will their own greed tear them down?

Current season: Early Winter. [Frigid temperatures. Long nights, short and dark days.]
Current major events:
Time Skip!! 9/5

Two Abolition dogs have been killed by Insurgent pack members. This has caused unrest in both packs.

A massive snow storm has swept over Chernobyl, bringing an early winter and a shortage of supplies.

Likaen | Insurgent Camp | Deanira, Synopy, Isa, Tok, Jonah, Koroneis
Likaen watched as Deanira approached Isa, the larger dame's fur standing on end as she practically snarled at Isa. When Synopy spoke up, Likaen stood and padded up next to her, sending a chilling glare around at the dogs he could see in the camp. When Isa responded in her cruelly detached way, Likaen's hackles rose and he let a low growl escape between his teeth.

Shadow | Insurgent Camp | Tok, Koroneis, Quillion, Unnamed Raven, Isa, Likaen, Synopy, Deanira, Slate
Shadow heard muffled growls coming from outside their den and, after ensuring Quillion was still resting, they silently padded out to investigate, the second raven following close behind. When they poked their head out of the den, the first thing their eyes met was Slate slinking around the edge of camp, ears and tail drooping in a submissive posture. They glanced around to see who may have caused this reaction and noticed Isa speaking with three unknown dogs. Shadow quickly huffed and pulled themself out of the den entirely to stand just behind Isa, the beta's traditional place. They managed to catch the tail end of Isa's statement as they approached. "Go home and mourn, lest you intend to end up like your beloved delta." Their ears drooped, remorse clouding their eyes. As Isa turned away, they stepped forward, intending to speak to who they assumed where the leaders of Abolition pack.

Synopy | Abolition Co-lead | Insurgent Camp | Mentions: (Direct) Isa, Deanira, Likaen Shadow (Indirect) Jade, Mavy

Just as she said it, Isa seemed just even more irritated than when Deanira spoke up. Was it something about her being less blunt? Maybe. But it unintentional. "I know nothing of that broad's death." the gray-coated dog finally spoke, so she didn't know? Synopy thought to herself, it wasn't a surprise. The crime had only been committed a short while ago. "I'm not sure what you thought would come of this visit, but I'm not interested in your pity party. If I recall correctly, this is the second dog you've lost in merely a week? Perhaps your pack could manage to keep their throats in tact if you'd teach them some common sense, but it doesn't seem you have much to share seeing as how you galivanted directly into my territory." Pity party? That sounded like the brute was trying to rile them up. And it did work a bit on Synopy. The commentary wasn't the nicest she had ever heard, but the fact that it was spoken in a situation so serious it felt like a deep cut through skin and fur, fangs ripping through positive emotions that were dancing at the back of Synopy's head, trying to cheer her up after the sudden news of the pack's delta's death. "Well maybe you could monitor where your subordinates are heading? It's not like we came here for a careless stroll anyway." A normal day, where everything was fine, wouldn't bear a Synopy who would speak such words. She was a flexible dog, able to forgive. Yet murder was the last thing in her entire lifetime that she would forgive. Isa, leader of Insurgent, a gray furred dog, with a reputation that was questionable, let two subordinates pass along after the act of murder. That, was the only thing that she found absolutely unforgivable.

"Go home and mourn, lest you intend to end up like your beloved delta." That was it. The dog turned as if they're own subordinates didn't just slaughter a dog from another pack, and that they weren't just talking to the three leaders of that single pack regarding that death. Synopy would be lying if she wasn't infuriated. Jade, a responsible dog, another source of light, dimmed to nothing. Gone. Especially not long after Mavy's death. The pit bull mix's fall was already a hit on their pack, and with the news of another one would it be quite a time for Abolition. Other than sorrows, there was the growing worry that something might be ahead of them. However, it was to be awhile before that happened. Synopy could she a black figure in the camp, possibly an Insurgent subordinate. Her ears and figure drooped low, had she heard their conversation? "Hello..?" she choked out nervously, trying to sound polite. Was if wrong for to greet a dog from another pack, that was a rival pack, that she didn't know at all? All that was in her head was worry, anger, sorrow, and every negative emotion that she could fit into the pack's situation.

Cassiopeia | Loner | Insurgent Camp | Mentions: Aramis, Jonah [directly] Tok. Koroneis [indirectly] Sullivan [NPC]

Cassiopeia seemed more or less satisfied with the answer concerning food, staying quiet as Aramis responded to her many questions Her tail wagged at the last bit. "Ooh, that's cool! Have you ever seen anything super awesome!?" Her tail thumped back and forth on the ground now, staring up at Aramis- she repeated the name quietly in her mind- with newfound interest. She'd known before that packs had things like leaders and healers, but she didn't know that there was more beyond that! Her attention suddenly snapped over to a new voice. "If it comes in here, eat it. Ah- Also, hello pups." She blinked, twisting around to study the camp. Thing? What thing- She paused when her eyes landed on the bird, which was flapping around in a manner she saw as chaotic. She suppressed a laugh. "What are you, a mouse? It's just a bird!" She observed the scrawny dog that seemed to be trailing after the fat bird with slight interest. She looked similar to her own father, causing her to briefly wonder if they related. Nah, there are a ton of dogs that look like Papa. I've seen them at his rallies.

Roland | Loner | Outside of Territories | Mentions; Vanadis [directly]

Roland let his own, strong voice fade out slowly, so that he no longer drowned out the other sounds in the city. He looked down at the pup. "You know, my parents would tell me that if you heard 'The Ravager's' howl while you were near your territory, it basically meant you were doomed." He chuckled teasingly. "You know, that rumor isn't entirely nonsense. You don't have to worry about it, though." His gaze seemed to soften just before he closed his eyes. "What am I now? Little Ravager?" He smiled, though he did hesitate before speaking again. "That doesn't have a terrible ring to it..." His mind wandered off on it's own when he reopened his eyes. He appreciated her bright enthusiasm, the one thing he'd seldom had during his own puphood. He decided, right now, that he wouldn't let another dog so much as brush their fur against hers. Until the pup was able to return safely to her true family, he would protect her with his life. And even then, he would still owe her for being able to trust him, and for showing him the security of what it felt like to have true family. "Vanadis? Stay with me for a while. I'll protect you until you can find your kin."

Selkie | Abolition | Abolition Territory | Mentions; Kardama, Artemis [directly]

Selke turned tail and padded away without another word. She didn't even bother to check how closely the big brute was following her, as her paws, although tiny, quickly carried her towards the the edge of the forest. She subconsciously stuck close to the roots of trees, where snow was the most shallow and allowed her to traverse forwards with ease. She didn't even stumble, not once. As the trees began to thin out, her dark eyes scanned the nearest buildings carefully. A ragged, beat-up shack, an abandoned human home, and a dark, overgrown warehouse that loomed threateningly in the distance. She turned away from the last option immediately, instead heading for the house. It didn't look terribly damaged, and the door was wide open. She picked up the pace, hopping through the snow in a hurry. When she finally reached the entrance she nosed it open gently, taking a sniff before shoving through with ease. She glanced around. It looked more or less like every other human den in the city- like it had been suddenly abandoned, things strewn across furniture as if the humans had been wanting to bring every single one of their worldly possessions with them. Her eyes landed on the other dogs. "This is the best I can offer you." Her ears twitched towards a scurrying noise and she growled quietly, watching in amusement as a mouse darted behind an empty mini-fridge. "Free food, too." That was mostly a joke, but she truly didn't care if they took mice out of the house or not.

Koroneis/Tok| Insurgent Camp| Jonah, Isa, Aramis, Pups

The large raven cawed as Jonah fled from him. Tok landed and hopped over to the building, still curious. It was strange that the large dog was frightened of a bird who could do very minimal damage to them. He swooped in through the entrance and landed on the far side of the room. "I've heard carrion-eaters don't taste too good." He cawed wryly in their language. "Not that I would know." He surveyed the room as Koroneis slunk into the room submissively. "I'm so sorry-" she cried to Jonah, reaching Tok and nudging him with her snout. "Come on!" she hissed at him in Raven. He gave her a grumpy look and croaked something back at her. The shy coyote-dog seemed to forget the other dogs as she started arguing with the bird.

Artemis| Abolition Territory| Selkie, Kardama (directly)

Artemis didn't say anything as she followed the ball of fur, she was too busy trying to put her paws in the right spots so she wouldnt sink up to her belly in snow. Arty looked up, however, when they reached their destination. She stepped in the door, looking around. She spotted the mice and pounced after one, but the small rodent skittered away from her paws. The energetic young wolf proceeded to chase around all the mice scurrying for cover with not a lot of success.

Shadow | Insurgent Camp | Deanira, Synopy, Likaen
"Hello..?" Shadow's golden eyes locked on the smaller dame as she spoke. "Hello, I am Shadow, the beta of Insurgent." They dipped in their head in a respectful greeting, their ears tilted to the side and their tail naturally down. "I apologize for my leader's temperament. I wish I could some excuse as to why she behaved that way, however she is always like that." They smiled tentatively, before their expression collapsed again. "I am truly sorry for what happened to your packmates. I cannot speak for the... murderers, but I myself would be ashamed if I attacked a dog with no provocation." They dipped their head farther, their voice coated in sadness. "I assure you, I will do my best to uncover who killed your delta and ensure that they are properly punished. Even if it goes against Isa's wishes." Their last sentence was mumbled under their breath, and they assume no one else heard it.

Likaen | Insurgent Camp | Shadow, Deanira, Synopy
Likaen watched as the large black dog approached, reading no hostility but remaining in front of Synopy just in case.

Bull | Outside Territory | None

Bull sniffed the cold air and went out for another day of hunting, another day of the same routine, and yet another day of guarding his small area that he called his 'territory'. His 'territory' bordered the insurgent camp, but he always thought the scents of the other dogs were stale. Bull had a nest, made of ferns and moss, hidden in a small cave like boulder. Bull caught the scent of a squirrel, but that's really all that was around recently. He crept out of his nest and quickly listened around for the critter. He spotted it about 10 feet away from where he was standing, and he jumped on it, crushing its neck. It was a fat squirrel, and he was hungry. Instead of waiting to get back to his den, he just ate the squirrel then.

Fang | Insurgent Scout | Insurgent Territory | Mentions: (Indirect) Isa, Almost all of Insurgent

Fang's head was spinning, full with thoughts. None of them were great. It contained of worry, anger, and resentment. He had been recently thinking about leaving Insurgent entirely, and he had before too. Those times were when he was mentally exhausted with his surroundings, but still every time, he chose to stay. This time was different, however. Nothing had caused the urge to leave. It had grown naturally. He tried blocking the thoughts, and to focus, but he hadn't had anything else to focus on. The others haunted him inside his own imagination, it wasn't pleasant at all. He had them for years, but day by day they started to irritate him too much.

It was decided, he wasn't budging, yet. He knew that he wasn't ready. He wasn't sure when his 'ready' would come and he wouldn't know how that 'ready' would come. There was a feeling that the 'ready' would happen after something drastic happens. In the bad way.

Fang sighed, he was lying under a large evergreen, sulking as his thoughts clouded his mind away from actual work. He was physically tired but his mind was overflowing with thought. He had shut himself off from the world ever since that incident, he blamed his change in personality on the incident. At the time, he was young, he wanted to make himself feel better. And that lie to himself stuck along with him until now. It was not the incident, it only contributed slightly to the change. It was the environment he chose after the incidence.

Insurgent was a terrible starting point for his life, joining a pack with a leader of a cannibalistic background. A pack in the midst of war. The young Fang seeked desperately for support. And he got attached to the idea that the dogs there would help him, they didn't. Maybe that, was the ridiculous reason for why he chose to stay; he didn't want to let go of the fake comfort zone he had made for himself in his mind.

The setting shaped him, he became something that his younger self wouldn't have become if they chose a different path. His younger self was quiet, distant, and polite enough that even his current self considered him decent. His younger self still had traces of puphood left behind, shielded by the walls put up by him. If he wasn't in Insurgent, would he have ever slaughtered an Abolition dog? Or any dog at all? Would he have had this type of personality?

Now, he was blaming Insurgent. Fang, never wanted to take the blame. The conviction of being wrong or simply taking the blame was too much for him to handle. He always was afraid of taking the burden of wronging, and therefore he used others as his reasoning. What if he chose a different path? Staying a loner? Joining a coalition? What if he chose Abolition? The swirling possibilities were endless. He could've became a ruthless brute, maybe cannibalistic along with it, or he could've ended up a hero or lengend. Maybe he had a normal life, of a loner or of a packdog in a pack other than Insurgent.

He was pretty sure back in the day that he had the opportunity to join Abolition, but he was young and indecisive and he chose whatever he thought would help him. But he couldn't exaggerate young. He was a young adult at the time, and he could think for himself. But he wasn't a great decision maker because of his inexperience and lack of guidance.

Now what was he doing, sitting under a tree, and drowning in his own thoughts about the past and how he could've ended up better than he was right that moment? He sort-of wanted to take off and fly like a eagle, but he didn't have wings. Oh, so he was thinking about how terrible his life is huh? Turning back to the outside, he shook away the thoughts. The landscape was vast, snow-coated and cold with marks of evidence of past human civilization living in the now ghost-city. He wanted to be peaceful. As peaceful as a snowflake falling from the cloudy baby blue sky on a winter day onto a tree's leaf.

Celestina | Insurgent Territory | Fang
Celest had been wandering all morning, or rather, scouting all morning. She was exhausted, her tail and ears drooping as she shuffled along, hoping to come across some food. Suddenly she went still, her nose twitching frantically. "Rabbit..." She whispered to herself, jaws slavering at the thought of a fresh-kill rabbit. She was a scout, surely she could take a break for a snack. As she crouched and began stalking the rabbit, another scent wafted across her nose and she bolted upright, causing the rabbit to dash away in fear as the snow shot up around her. She looked to the left,, suddenly spotting a large tree in what was once a park. She trotted up to it, her tail wagging slowly. "Fang? Are you alright?" She reached down with her nose, sniffing at him.

Bull| Just inside the border of insurgent territory|none

Bull had decided he was tired of eating squirrels and the same routine every day. He had come upon the idea to adventure throughout the immediate area. He unknowingly had crossed the Insurgent Border in search of food, and all he could think about was the taste of snowy rabbit. His mind was not focused on other scents or the fact it was winter and the dark would come soon. He spotted a large sized rabbit, and started running towards it.

Isa | Insurgent Leader | Location: Insurgent camp.
Mentions: Deanira, Likaen, Synopy, Shadow, Slip. (Directly.) Slate, Aramis. (Indirectly.)

"Well maybe you could monitor where your subordinates are heading? It's not like we came here for a careless stroll anyway." She opened her mouth as if to retort, though a presence wandering across camp caused her to shut her trap. She cut her eyes at Shadow as the wolfdog slunk up to her side. Turning completely away at last, she completely disregarded the situation with a flick of her raised tail. Yes, let Shadow deal with them. They've always been better at talking. She thought with a quiet sniff. Maybe they'll convince them to leave without a fight. A heavy sigh escaped from her muzzle as she took a few long strides away. She had her fur-ridged back now completely turned to the trio of intruders, blatantly ignoring their existence while she got lost in thought. If this is true, Slate will have to be dealt with. I'll have to investigate myself first. If she really wasn't on our territoryβ€” Her pale eyes slid around camp once more, searching for the hulking brute's frame. However, he seemed to be nowhere in sight. Typical. Her lip peeled back slightly in annoyance. She couldn't do much now anyway, she had always preferred dealing with these things privately within her pack. She couldn't have the other group thinking Insurgent was at fault, of course. However, if their claims were proven to be true, she would be making an example out of the miscreant before the day came to an end.

She swiveled back around to face the three leaders, eyeing Shadow curiously as she watched the beta discuss something with the cream-coated lady. She leered at them for a long moment before turning her head to gaze at the hospital. Ah, Aramis knows something about this. Her ears perked forwards suddenly as she remembered her daughter arriving in camp with Slate in tow earlier. Surely she's done feeding that brat by now. She began to pad towards the entrance when something smacked into her leg. Pausing her steps, she glowered down at the tiny roadblock. Ah, the Abolition pup. Of course. "I should return you." She mumbled out and knelt down to snag Slip by the scruff. Turning back, once again, she loped back to the Abolition leaders and plopped the pup down at their paws. "Speaking of monitoring subordinates." She took one of her paws and slid the pup across the snow towards them. "I found this at our border this morning. You're lucky he ended up here and not frozen or eaten." She snorted and took a step back, her glare dashing between the three dog's faces. "We don't need another mouth to feed, take him home to his mother."

Kardama | Loner | Location: Abolition territory.
Mentions: Selkie, Artemis.

She let the ominous howl roll off of her shoulders, allowing the thought to slip from her mind as both of the smaller canines began to bounce through the snow towards their destination. As the trees began to thin overhead, she grew all the more uncomfortable. Ahead of them were the run-down buildings of past humans and she forced herself to focus on them, lest she turn tail and return back to the safety of the trees. As their guide methodically picked out which abode seemed to be best she lingered back and allowed the pup to follow along first. As the door swung open to the dimly-lit interior, Kardama lumbered inside without hesitation. She let her eyes linger across the ceiling and then trail down to the floors, ears perking forwards as a few mice scurried to and fro. "This is the best I can offer you. Free food, too." She stood eerily silent for a moment while she took in the sight. The air was still, it would prove to be warmer than spending the night outside in this dreadful weather. If it snowed, they wouldn't be buried in the icy substance. It truly was a nice place to spend the night, at least to her. She wasn't entirely sure what to say in that moment, nor how to repay the kindness. After a long silence she finally nodded slightly, turning to face the Abolition dog, "Thank you. Truly." She woofed as politely as she could muster. Her gaze swiveled away as the pup leapt through the building and scattered the tiny inhabitants. Hm. So much for dinner. She thought with a slight sigh. Swinging her head towards the Pomeranian mix once more, she opened her mouth to speak. "No need to worry your pack, we'll leave your territory at first light." Her voice came out in a low rumble and she lifted her head, a slight frown settling on her face. I'd rather they not know, it would only stir up trouble. Her brow furrowed and she leered down at Selkie from the corner of her eye. If she chooses to tell them though, there's nothing I can do. A small huff escaped her chest at the thought and she took a few more paw steps into the room before settling back on her haunches.

Deanira | Insurgent Co-Lead | Location: Insurgent Camp
Mentions: Isa, Synopy, Likaen, Shadow, Slip (Directly) Slate, Insurgent lol!(Indirectly)

"I know nothing of that broad's death." As Isa spat out those words Deanira's ears pulled back slightly, analyzing the confused expression on the smaller doe's features. Her hostile posture seemed to falter at that, eyes narrowing. The confusion seemed genuine, and if that were the case, Deanira didn't know if it was better or worse that this wasn't Isa's doing; that Insurgent just so happened to be riddled with murderous, orderless mongrels. "I'm not sure what you thought would come of this visit, but I'm not interested in your pity party. If I recall correctly, this is the second dog you've lost in merely a week? Perhaps your pack could manage to keep their throats in tact if you'd teach them some common sense, but it doesn't seem you have much to share seeing as how you galivanted directly into my territory." Isa's next few words instantly brought back any of the hostility that ebbed away from Deanira, the dark furred doe almost curling her lips back in a snarl had Synopy not spoken up. "Well maybe you could monitor where your subordinates are heading? It's not like we came here for a careless stroll anyway." Deanira nodded i agreeance to the smaller does words, glancing at her for only a moment, gazing back at Isa only to see the spiky furred doe turning as if she was going to walk away, but not without one last retort. "Go home and mourn, lest you intend to end up like your beloved delta." At this Deanira's lips finally did curl back, though her snarl was a silent one, and she made no move to regain the distance between she and Isa like she really wished to. It'd be foolish to do something like that, she already knows that, and she'd rather not be torn apart by Insurgent scum.

Deanira's attention then turned to a onyx furred, wolf lookin dog that stepped forward. "I apologize for my leader's temperament. I wish I could some excuse as to why she behaved that way, however she is always like that." Deanira didn't say anything yet, simply leering at the dog as they spoke. What a good look to have yor subordinates talking about you in such a manner, even better that this was Isa's beta. Deanira's surprise they haven't chased Isa out if this dog wasn't the only one who felt that way. As Shadow went on, Deanira's features never softened despite their saddened tone. Deanira didn't really care, honestly, it wasn't like it was their packmate who was murdered unjustly, why should they be sad? "I assure you, I will do my best to uncover who killed your delta and ensure that they are properly punished. Even if it goes against Isa's wishes." Deanira's eyes fluttered wide for a moment after this, instantly recalling Reo's words. "I eventually met a dalmatian by the name of... Aramis, I think. She had no part in the act but she let the name of the killer slip- Slate. He also stated he so-called 'lost control' of himself." Deanira suddenly cleared her throat before she went to speak to Shadow, fortunately in a less aggressive tone than she adopted with Isa. "We already know the possible name of the murderer you call a packmate. Slate, is it? Make sure whoever Slate remembers that if he's ever spotted anywhere on our territory he'll end up just like our delta."

Slate's name rolled off her tongue in a deep hiss, dripping with venom as it did so. As she was done speaking, Isa was coming back, oddly enough with a familiar looking ball of fluff hanging from her jaws as she did so. Slip? Deanira thought with a jolt, looking at the small pup in surprise, missing Isa's remark entirely. Well, at least he didn't freeze to death somewhere, but then again, he couldn't have gotten to Insurgent's camp by himself. "How kind of you to bring back the child of the mother your dogs have murdered." Deanira simply said as she stared down at Slip, her tone somewhat mocking as she finally raised it to leer suspiciously at the gray furred doe. "I found this at our border this morning. You're lucky he ended up here and not frozen or eaten." Deanira only used a paw to nudge Slip closer to her, however, opting not to respond. If the circumstances were different Deanira would have brought herself to thank Isa for giving him a safe place to stay. She couldn't bring herself to do so now, however. Instead, Deanira would let out a huff, not willing to let Isa escape the conversation they were having before.

"Back to the issue at hand, Isa, after Mavy's death we decided to let it slide, being that she was on your territory." She started with a small grimace, feeling uncomfortable at the fact she had to admit Insurgent was somewhat in the right for Mavy's death. Maybe they didn't have to resort to murder, yes of course, but they have a right to defend their territory like every pack. "But now our Delta? In our territory? If you think we'll just idle by while Insurgent scum take out members of my pack, you're more of a foolish doe than I thought you to be. Take control of your subordinates, lest you wish for another war on your paws." Sharp ivories were visible as Deanira spoke, her gaze hot and searing into Isa's frame as she did so. She paused only for a moment to swipe a bright pink tongue around her jaws, her breath leaving from her maw in hot clouds. "Consider this a promise, Isa. If we spot anymore Insurgent scum with a paw in Abolition's lands, don't be surprised when we return the favour." Her words were surprisingly level and calm despite how hotly her eyes blazed. Her voice was thick with both animosity and promise, rolling out of her maw in a deep voice. Deanira finally looked between Synopy and Likaen, seeing if they had anything to say before they finally rolled out.

Aramis | Insurgent Scout | Location: Insurgent Camp
Mentions: Cassie, Jonah, Isa, Tok, Koro(Directly) Insurgent Leaders(Indirectly)

Aramis nearly flinched as Stoney finally spoke up. "I can talk I can talk! I was just listening, also, dog blood?????? Scary,,,,blood is bad. I don't know who that big black dog is, but I'm sure that he's nice! Right? Wait, what if he isn't a dog? No, that isn't possible right??? Is it?????" Aramis just smiled weakly at his innocent words, offering a small, awkward huff. Is she now having to deal with two of...them? "Don't fret, kiddo, all is well." She started, hoping that'd soothe his wide eyed expression. "The big black dog? That was Shadow, our beta. They're nice, you don't need to fret about that either." Then it was Cassie's turn to speak, Aramis's head turning sharply towards her. "Ooh, that's cool! Have you ever seen anything super awesome!?" Hm, that was a question Aramis was comfortable with answering. Aramis moved her head back, pondering the question as her tail thumped against the cold hospital floor. Finally, she thought of something, glancing down at the coydog pup expectantly. "Ever heard of, or seen a 'Rat king' before?" Aramis asked with a small smile, which was the most interesting thing she could recall at this moment. Insurgent happened to be full of rats, especially during the spring, so rat kings pop up once in a while. The first time Aramis saw one se almos jumped out of her fur at the sight. It was a good food source , yet Aramis doesn't really like rat. Maybe Armis should ponder on that question more, so she could entertain Cassie later on. She knew that pups could get bored easily.

Fear scent clouded her nostrils however, and her head turned just as the sound of claws clicking rapidly against the floor reached her ears, her gaze landing on a very frightened looking Jonah. "If it comes in here, eat it." She watched as he came closer to her, the spotted damsel watching him with a confused glance, looking out to where he was glancing at only to see Tok not too far away, her eyes rolling as she connected the dots. "It's just a bird, Jonah." Aramis said as she took a step closer to Jonah, almost sounding amused. She couldn't help but find it just a little bit funny, especially when Cassie spoke up in a similar manner. "What are you, a mouse? It's just a bird!" Aramis huffed in amusement, watching the whelp as she observed Koroneis talking to Tok with a noticably soft gaze. Shaking her head, Aramis looked away from Cassie, looking to Jonah instead. "Isa didn't chase you out?" She asked her ears pricking as a loud bark reached her ears. The voice was unfamiliar, yet the tone it carried made her pelt prick, and she craned her head to peer out the hospitals threshold only to see three dogs addressing Isa, and it didn't look too peaceful. The strong scent of Abolition wafted over to her nostrils instantly, her lithe frame stiffening, assuming they were the Abolition co leaders instantly. Must be their leaders. They must know about the murder by now. She thought, swallowing nervously. Looking over to Cassie, she cleared her throat, not wishing for her to get in the mix. "Hey, Cassie? You see that bird? Try to see if you can snatch a feather from him, or something. I'll try to catch you a mouse if you can get more than 2." She whispered, her frame blocking Cassie's view of the outside. Aramis doubted the pup could actually snatch a feather from Tok, so she didn't feel like it was a bad thing to say. Anything to distract her.

Aramis then turned, walking to sit beside Jonah with large floppy ears pulled back. "Yikes." Aramis muttered, watching Isa as she spat out at the large, dark hued dame in front of her. From what Isa was saying, it was definitely about the murder Slate had committed. Great, this winter couldn't get any worse.

Vanadis | Loner | Location: Unclaimed Territory
Mentions: Roland(Directly) Artemis(Indirectly)

"You know, that rumor isn't entirely nonsense. You don't have to worry about it, though." "Yeah, becauthe you're a thoftie." She hummed, the hares fluff making her s's come out with a th sound instead. After this Vanadis started walking towards where Roland buried his kill, though the process was somewhat slow as she had to both plow through the tall blanket of snow and drag 'her' kill with her. "That doesn't have a terrible ring to it..." Vanadis was close enough to hear Roland's words, turning her head to look at him with her tail wagging. Yay! He liked the name! Vanadis hoped he did, a 'Ravager' sounded scary but being one? So cool. Aaand she has the most scariest, most infamous one to teach her! Can't get better than that. The alabaster hued pup smiled, although she exaggerated it greatly so Roland could see it through the rabbit in her jaws, her muzzle wrinkling as her teeth showed just barely from how much she exaggerated it, eyes squinting. Dropping the rabbit so she could talk easier, she turned her shoulder to him so she could look at him easier, her tail and chin held high.

"Are you going to teach me how to fight next? Becaussse, if I'm going to be a 'Little Miss Ravager" I'll need to act the part, you know." She huffed out, lifting her chin higher and raising a paw, waving it back only to flick it forwards as she said "Little Miss Ravager" in a mock fancy tone. "I already have one my older sister told me. Never, and I mean never, turn your back on an opponent. That's what I was doing when you caught me at the store, because, I thought that if you were going to eat me I'd at least make it difficult. I wasn't scared though, not at all." She added, turning to pick up the rabbit again by the leg, still talking as she did so in a cheerful tone, her grip on the rabbits leg not as muffling as it was before. Vanadis walked in a horse like prance, which proved to be faster as she dragged her kill with her. "Vanadis? Stay with me for a while. I'll protect you until you can find your kin." Vanadis paused at this, her ears swivelling back in his direction. Vanadis already subconsciously decided she would stick with him, if she didn't she would have slipped away while he was hunting. She didn't really want to leave him, though. Of course, if her family somehow turned around the corner she'd definitely join them again!! But now? She'd prefer staying with Roland. He's cool, and he's pretty strong for an old guy. She still remembers when he pushed that shelf against that door in the storehouse!! So strong.

Vanadis had already reached where Roland buried their last kill by then, dropping the hare before she turned around to look at him. "Okay! I'll be able to tell my parents how you don't eat puppies! They told me that once." She said, scooping some snow onto her rabbit, though halfheartedly. Vanadis went quiet suddenly, plopping herself on her rump as she looked around the area with a small sniff. "I was out looking for them, you know. That's how I found your store. My older sister and parents said they'd go out to get some food when that first storm calmed down a little, but it picked up again but I haven't seen them since." Vanadis said, the first detailed explanation as to why she was on her own in the first place. Vanadis trusted him now, so she didn't see a point in hiding it now. She looked a little sad as she spoke, her ears drooping slightly, not quite looking at Roland as she began to frown. She missed them.

"I have a sister my age too. She looks like me. I left without her so I don't know if she's still at home or not."

Shadow | Insurgent Camp | Isa, Deanira, Likaen, Synopy
Shadow was left in silent shock at Deanira's revelation in regards to the killer. Their mouth hung open, ears pinned against their skull. "T-that's not possible..." Suddenly, they remembered Slate's strangeness when he returned earlier. "How...?" They bowed their head, silently processing the information. After a few moments, they looked back up at the Abolition leaders. "I understand, thank you for sharing this information. I will see to his punishment myself." There was a new hardness to their gaze, a detachment that wasn't there moments before. Shadow grimaced as Isa returned with the pup. 'Oh no...' They let out a near silent growl at Isa's harsh tone, their fur prickling. They looked to Deanira as she spoke, wincing at the pain evident in her voice. Shadow proceeded to ignore Isa as they spoke with Deanira, acting as though she wasn't there. "I apologize once again for the pain our pack has caused yours. I will ensure that Slate is punished." They dipped their head. "I will also pass along the warning regarding the borders. If you would like, I would be more than willing to escort you back to your territory."

Likaen | Insurgent Camp | Isa, Shadow, Deanira, Synopy
Liikaen listened in silence as Deanira handled the two higher-ups of Insurgent, nodding when Deanira looked back at him, indicating that he is ready to leave whenever she is.

Isa | Insurgent Leader | Location: Insurgent camp.
Mentions: Deanira, Likaen, Synopy, Shadow, Slip. (Directly.)

"How kind of you to bring back the child of the mother your dogs have murdered." Her jaw hardened at the brutal sentence. What is she talking about? Her pale eyes flashed around at the surrounding faces, curious to see if they were also out of loop. After a second of studying, it seemed that she was the only one confused. "Back to the issue at hand, Isa, after Mavy's death we decided to let it slide, being that she was on your territory." Ah, it finally clicked in her brain. She let her eyes fall towards the small pup, now scooted closer to the other dame. It belongs to that warrior broad who strayed over our border. Hmm. The other dog had continued her rambling as Isa's mind trailed off in thought, only grasping hold of the situation as the broad's voice trailed off. "Take control of your subordinates, lest you wish for another war on your paws." Her narrowed gaze landed directly onto the other female's, her mouth opening to reveal her fangs. "You've allowed your grief to blind you and your pack mates, Deanira." She spat out, glowering towards the other two leaders for a mere moment. "When a caribou stomps a wolf for attacking it, do you call that murder? You said it yourself, the first killing was on our territory, and far from a murder. I wouldn't suggest using that word so lightly in the future." She snorted, her words laced with a threatening tone. She turned her head away and leered up at the buildings before speaking again, "I will keep control of my subordinates, and I suggest you do the same. I'm not going to start a war but if your pack is pitiful enough to battle over a single dog's death, so be it." She woofed and swiveled away, beckoning Shadow along with her tail.

"Consider this a promise, Isa. If we spot anymore Insurgent scum with a paw in Abolition's lands, don't be surprised when we return the favour." She grunted in response, swinging her head back to glance over her shoulder. "Likewise." The singular word came out in a hiss. "If you would like, I would be more than willing to escort you back to your territory." She had been equally ignoring her beta as they chattered away with the light-furred leader, but it was blatant that they were giving her the same treatment as her motion was completely missed. She whirled around and locked eyes with the larger dog, hackles raising slightly in annoyance. "You will stay here." She barked out the order, glowering at her beta as if they were nothing more than another subordinate. "You've spent plenty of enough time neglecting your duties to this pack recently." Her lips peeled back in a growl as she spoke. She was referring to Shadow's incessant searching of her son, Quillon. She had let it slide during the time being, as she had assumed he was dead, but enough was enough. She let out a low grumble before tearing her gaze away and slipping past once again. "They can see themselves out in the same manner they arrived. I need you to return to your post, I'll be heading out as well for a short time." The order was growled over her shoulder as she trudged away at last.

Jonah | Loner | Location: Insurgent camp.
Mentions: Cassiopeia, Stony, Aramis, Tok, Koroneis.

"It's just a bird, Jonah." He furrowed his brow to glare at his niece, ducking as the sound of wings echoed through the empty building. "What are you, a mouse? It's just a bird!" He could feel his pride shattering as the small dog piped up with a similar statement. He lowered his head towards the pup, his face scrunching up in a rather dramatic look of offense. "Just a bird? It's possessed or something, it wants peck out my eyeballs." His ears flattened back and eyes went wide as Tok flapped into the room and proceeded to caw something out in canine's tongue. "I've heard carrion-eaters don't taste too good." He sucked in a breath and lowered himself to the floor as if to hide behind Cassiopeia. Taste good? It's going to eat me. "See, look. It can talk. Like a dog." He whispered through his clenched teeth, staring at the strange coydog pup with fear in his eyes.

"Isa didn't chase you out?" He glanced back up at Aramis as she spoke again. "Ha-ha. Of course not, I'm her favourite brother." He woofed back with a beaming smile and a slight rocking of his head. It was clearly a lie. Following the spotted dame's gaze, he peered curiously out into the blinding light. She was clearly uncomfortable with the situation going on out there, was it that serious? "Hey, Cassie? You see that bird? Try to see if you can snatch a feather from him, or something. I'll try to catch you a mouse if you can get more than 2." He gasped quietly as Aramis egged the pup on. "Don't do it kid, it's not worth it. That thing will eat you." He warned in a hushed whisper, his paws scraping against the smooth floor as he pulled himself back into a semi-upright position. "Yikes." "Yikes?" He repeated, tilting his head curiously to gaze past his niece as she plopped down at his side. "Is it about your murderous pack-mate I had the pleasure of meeting earlier? Something about, wolf instincts forcing him to kill?" He questioned, slowly turning his gaze to settle on her. "Ah- and also, I know I told you not to tell me but- How old are they? How long have I been a great uncle?" He muttered, gazing down at Cassiopeia and Stony as he woofed out the barrage of questions. Ugh, they have to be a few months at least, am I that old? I can feel the crows fee- He cut the thought off at that, glaring suspiciously over at the dog-eating, definitely possessed, bird sitting across the room.
