Hello! At this moment (1/13/22) I am currently working on a google doc to close the spontaneous rosette case, for good. I'll be looking into things as small as skin colour, and doing everything I can to get this massive question answered, Where are the rosettes coming from?

I plan on using studs with certain markings to see what markings are the most likely to produce rosettes. I'm also writing down the markings of 8 breeding pairs for every variation of rosette marking that has resulted in a rosette. It's difficult to explain, but I hope to present it to lioden later on in the year.

Right now, i'm asking for a bit of help. If you've recently had any rosettes, or have had multiple rosettes, please let me know. If you have any rosette theories or have noticed repetition within the breeding of rosettes i'd seriously love help from you.

I also need some financial help. 2000 SB and at least 4 GB is needed to fund the stud fees. If for any reason at all this project is shut down, your currency will be refunded with a sincere apology and thank you for trying to help me in this passion project of mine. Currently, I am not open for donations, I want to wait until this project is in a more secure state. Right now, it is unclear if I will be 100% moving forward with this theory. It could take all year, maybe even some of 2024 to complete, but I am very excited about it. i hope to release the building blocks of this theory some time this month or maybe in February.

With the few days of time i've put into this, I have quite a bit of evidence so far, but it really isn't secure yet. I have no standing proof to allude to any answer, so basically this 'drawing' is in the sketch phase.

If you come across any good Rosette theory threads please let me know, i'm looking to observe and take in the opinions of others to hopefully stack up to an answer. Thank you for reading all of this, and I hope I find some supporters for my project. :)

Hm, her parents are quite bare in regards of markings, I think this could definitely help prove my case that mutations aid in the production of rosettes, thank you for this data! :)

So far we have 3 out of 8 lions! I wonder why the Briar and mottled only show on slots 10, 11 and 6.

^if you are wondering about Mottled its specifically from breeding a first gen Leopon! If i remember correctly its only in slot 6
*wiki source for it* https://www.lioden.wiki/special-markings#hybrid_markings
Mottled Rosette only appears on first generation Leopons, and can only be passed down by Leopons and their offspring.
If you have a lion with Mottled Rosette, there is a 100% chance that, at some point, it descended from a first generation Leopon. Even if you stumble upon a chased lioness with Mottled Rosette, or you find a heritageless king with Mottled Rosette, the original lion was sourced from a Leopon in some way!
There is no other way to get Mottled Rosette on a lion without Leopon heritage, even with a Random Marking Applicator or Total Shuffle. Mottled Rosette is blocked from being applied with those two applicators.

I have gotten
1 Dark Brown Heavy Rosette
1 Ebony Soft Rosette

from my king here, https://www.lioden.com/lion.php?mid=245298
at least one was from a NCL and ill go check back but I know at least the other the mother did not have any rosettes either

edit yup I'm 99% sure both were from plan NCL
