Event UpdatesMantis ShopWe did a small shop update. One of the retired Advent Calendar sets is now available to purchase in Tier 3 of the Mantis Shop. We have also added a very cool Snowy Desert background to enrich this update with a unique colour palette!
New Combo Base: EskerWe are giving you a new base to breed, starting at midnight on December 9th (12am Lioden time).The main requirement for this base is that it can be bred during Wet Season only (the parents must breed during Wet Season, the cub does not need to be born during Wet Season!).
Factor 1: Esker, Ragdoll, Reindeer Factor 2: Esker, Arctic, Aufeis, Glacial, Ice Like any combo base, to get it you must meet the requirements and breed a Factor 1 base to a Factor 2 base. The genetics for Esker are Cream Medium Countershaded Special and it is tied to Blue skin. Winter Breeding ChallengeThis challenge is repeated from last year, so if you already know it from 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022, you can skip ahead to the new rewards! :DAll the albino love this month has inspired us to create a community challenge with extra personal goals to achieve! We give you the Albino Cub Challenge!  Community Goal: breed 2000 total Albino cubs! Personal Goal: breed 3 Albino cubs!The challenge begins at midnight on December 11th (12am Lioden time)! Where can I access the information about this challenge? The Gorilla Enclave will provide all information, as well as an extra small area on the sidebar panel on your layout! We also have an Albino Cub Challenge wiki page dedicated to this challenge.
What are the rewards? Community Rewards: 5% chance for a Snowflake-based cub to be born to Albino x any parent, 5% chance for a Hoarfrost-based cub to be born to Interstellar x any parent, 5% chance for a Rime-based cub to be born to Orchid x any parent, and 5% chance for an Esker-based cub to be born to Reindeer x any parent for the rest of December when the 2000 Albino cub goal is hit! The Gorilla Enclave will also ask for more Albino-based cubs for their quests. Personal Rewards: A special title ("Special Snowflake"), the "Albino Cub Challenge" achievement, a background and mutated Albino Cub decor based on your king's karma at the time of completing the 3 Albino cub goal, a Sculpted Ice Armour decor set, an Albino Dwarf Cub decor, a Hoarfrost Markings applicator, a Rime Markings applicator, and an Esker Markings applicator!  What is the time limit? The challenge and its in-game rewards end on December 31st 11:59pm Lioden time. The sooner you guys complete the goal, the longer you can enjoy the in-game rewards, as the 5% chance for a combo-based cub to be born to Reindeer + any parent pairing expires on December 31st 11:59pm Lioden time! This means that the only way to breed the Snowflake, Hoarfrost, Rime, and Esker bases after the challenge ends is to breed their factor bases together during wet season, or additionally, day or night time. Of course, the achievement and title you receive are permanent! The background items you receive will also last until their uses are gone, as with all other backgrounds and decors. Will this repeat next year? Yes! We will add or replace rewards, change combo bases, etc., but we think the Snowflake base will always be its core, and we may add something fresh as an extra every year. What are the background rewards? You will only receive one background for completing the personal goal, and the background you receive depends upon the karma your king has at the time that you claim your rewards!
There's also a universal personal reward set, regardless of your pride leader's karma.
What are the karma thresholds for receiving backgrounds? The karma thresholds are the same for these backgrounds as they are for your eyes changing in Explore. Evil: -400 or lower karma Neutral: between -399 and +399 karma Good: +400 or higher karma  New Personal Rewards in 2023 Esker Markings applicator!  - Esker Dinictis - Esker Frosty Roan - Esker Indri - Esker Snuggle New Karma Rewards  - Albino Primal Cub: Evil Karma Albino Leopon Cub: Neutral Karma Albino Tigon Cub: Good KarmaNew Universal Personal Reward  Albino Dwarf CubNote: The Mistletoe base from 2022 does not apply to the challenge, so there is no bonus for breeding it! New Raffle-Exclusive Base!It's been a long while since we've added a raffle-exclusive base! It's a bit toned down, like Lilac, but natural in colour. The name and design comes from the infraorder of even-toed hoofed horn-bearers! You can try your luck with the first Pecora release from today's raffle lioness!
The genetics for Pecora are Cream Medium Countershaded Special and it is tied to Dark skin.
Quality of Life Updates* Added training status to replace hunger for grown beetles in the Mound overviews * Added hunger/training status to Unsorted Beetles * Sub navigation of the Battle Beetles has been streamlined and unified across the pages * Feeding cubs to 100% gives a small survival bar boost (2 - 5%) * In the Cub Sex Changer item menu, the current sex of the cub (M or F) is listed beside their name * Browse your customised "Recent Activity" and "Recent Topics" feed, up to 500 most recent topics displayed in each * Den descriptions can now be viewed on mobile * Minor tweak to the "aging up" notice on Den page to be clearer * Crafting has gained a couple of new filters: — You can now hide recipes that are unavailable due to event crafting (they will still show up if the current event matches but a higher tier is needed to craft) — You can now filter by the crafted item type, options being "Show All", "Applicators", "Backgrounds", "Decorations" Gifting CaveSeveral members expressed their desire to send gifts to the Lioden Moderators over the December event. Unfortunately due to the anonymous nature of the moderators, this isn't easy to do.The Gifting Cave now allows you to gift moderators. This is completely voluntary and not expected, but it is available for those of you who want to gift a little something special to the mods. None of the gifts will go to the admins, as they are publicly known. This is a bit experimental this year, it will return next year if it's successful - or we may have some tweaks. Currency will be divided in a weighted ratio amongst trainees and longer term moderators, and will be as even as possible. Any currency that remains and cannot be distributed evenly will be stored to be gifted the following year. Items will be distributed as evenly as possible by item category, and again, any remainders will be saved for the following year. Taking part in the Gifting Cave does not contribute towards the event bar, but does contribute towards your personal goals (number of gifts given, the 888 gifts challenge). You cannot poop on the mods (booo!). Custom decors are also excluded from the Gifting Cave.

It's amazing how for some players it's so easy to belittle others with derogatory things like "need to find a new hobby" or "But maybe whining is your hobby." Sometimes making fun of how we like the game, Hello Mods? Why would people who Doesn't keep respect make comments like that when clearly those people don't even seem to play often? Or is it selective which people need to be respected? My comment that was just a meme has been deleted, but what about those that are meant to hurt players? 10 players like this post! We're complaining because we love these pixels on the screen?? With someone who has a 4 digit ID, I'm surprised with your reaction. I have been on Lioden for 9 years and the constant lack of communication and empty promises given by the staff is alarming. This would be like us playing any other game, say Pokemon since I'm familiar with it, and having Gamefreak back out of promises given over numerous years, or just not dropping a new game that was promised without a word. So basically it would be like Gamefreak promising new content, and then suddenly dropping that new content without a word. Or giving us new content, but it's been like halved of what was promised. As someone who is passionate about Lioden, dropping all of this promised content without a word genuinely feels like a slap to the face. Also, don't really appreciate these rude comments. We're all out here critiquing a game we really care about, CONSTRUCTIVE criticism at that, and we don't deserve to be called names or belittled by other players for our opinions. 9 players like this post! Everything Wrong P.2 The Esker Base The Esker Base. Just as a headsup: This may seem like another hate, but once again, I am not, and just expressing my feelings and thoughts on this. Once may I say, SO. So. The Esker Base is, to say lightly, probably the worst base. It does not even resemble reindeer or ragdoll (if it does, please point it out to me). There are so many other great bases suggested by players but, nope, instead the artists are not taking them into consideration. If Esker IS a base that was suggested, please link me to it. The Polls The polls should be on player feedback on staff suggestions and updates to make Lioden more idealistic and more player thoughts taken into consideration, not questions like “What do you think of Lioden as a Virtual Reality”. I don’t have a grudge against it - I just think that there is other stuff that prioritizes over what players think of a VR. The “negative response” and BO base pack The main reason I’m pissed about the esker base is because that was made and not the spirited pose finished or BO base pack that could atleast be adjusted/taken a step forward, or even a near “we’ve nearly finished” instead of that combo base, I think it is? It’s another letdown and empty promise by staff. Player feedback should NEVER affect what the mods have planned and announced, especially if it’s a “player” not “players”. As someone who’s suggested bases and other QoL suggestions, surely the staff would’ve anticipated negative responses, on some level? Surely you should be used to it now, with all the bases you’ve released in the past 10 years. I know, as someone who’s developed a website with my best friend and which is still a huge WIP, that YES, I know! It’s hard to develop and I am grateful, I am don’t get me wrong - I do love the pecora base, it’s stunning, but seriously. “* We want to make a note that we will be releasing a breed-only base pack in late autumn and will limit new bases to events only for a few months! - Clarity Edit 08/13: We have noticed there are imbalances regarding Uncommon and Breed Only bases, and we'd like to release a pack of bases to fill up those gaps.” So, where is it then? I’m not the only one complaining - Jester and Katie and also Casie AND the Serval spots who I applaud have also made comments on this, even before it came out. (Can insert comments if needed, lmk if you want to see them.) But staff - you paused because of something a negative player said? Comments shouldn’t be deleted from posts unless they’re cruel, I believe my comment when along with this news post given the fact that people are pointing out issues on it. You shouldn’t be able to delete something just because you don’t like it. The memes were nice and I don’t believe anyone had a problem with it yet it’s addressed but anything people actually have a problem with it’s not addressed and we’re pushed off to the side to contact and email and not the actual players of the game. 11 players like this post! @Jester (187561), what update images are you wanting for the male pose? They’ve already showed us the final linework for it, now what they have to do is individually redraw every single base, marking, skin, eye, mane color and mane shape, and all wearable decor so it fits the new pose. That is going to take an incredibly long time and to help, they are hiring artists to get it done faster. How do you know there has been no work done? I assume you aren’t on the art team. As for the color inconsistencies… plants and rocks are all sorts of colors and shades… and even gold has different shades. And for the base colors, this new base’s blue is the same as Arctic and the snake eyes are.. just green. These aren’t neon colors. I encourage you to think about all the work it takes to make this game, the work it takes to make brand new bases (they have to redraw each new base and marking, skin, mane and eye color) to fit every single pose on the site), and maybe offer to help with the load by teaching yourself lioden style art 6 players like this post! Lioden is a business. The business owners are going to run it they way they want. If you don't like the way it is being handled don't contribute to its success by continuing to play. I don't understand why you think you're entitled to "better communication. " Do you also expect Target to over communicate? Small business are fluid. I say this as someone who has done multiple startups. Often times you communicate something and then things change and suddenly a plan you shared with users can't happen. Then people are upset at you for "promising" something thar didn't come to fruition. Eventually, as is obviously the case here, you realize that you can't be as transparent with your users as you would have liked. It's a very damned if you do damned if you don't kind of situation. Chill. And if it is really aggravating you and impacting your enjoyment of the game then quit. It's really very simple. There is no grand conspiracy to fuck over the user base. The owners made a mistake by over promising probably out of an enthusiasm for a vision that they didn't realize wasn't feasible. It happens. And are we really complaining about rocks and plants not being all the same color? 😂 Have you gone outside recently? 8 players like this post!
