Scipio lifts his head and gazes out at the sunrise before him.
Slowly he sniffs the air. The air smells fresh, Scipio can smell the wet dew covering the dry grass.

It smelled like what he imagined his new-found freedom would smell like. As the eldest among his siblings, leaving his pride first was expected of him. A pang in his his heart told him that he still missed them, Lunar and all the others but now was not the time for that.

As he headed out to hunt a distinct smell wavered over to him.

Another male lion.

FloweringRiver had been traveling a few hours. He had been tasked with walking around the border. With predators level's rising, Aleafy, their king had wanted to keep Their Guard at camp, so FloweringRiver had been tasked with checking the border instead.

The sun was bright, stretching FloweringRiver's shadow to the side as he traveled. Despite the heat the ground was anything but dry. It was rare for the land in their territory to ever be barren, there were always plants and grass of abundance. This had been the main reason that Aleafy had chosen to settle The Pride Of Sun Dawn here. There was always plenty of food for the prey animals.

FloweringRiver's wandering thoughts came to a halt when he suddenly smelt an unfamiliar scent, and not just any scent. A lion. His head raised, spotting the shape of a young male far ahead.

Viper had been wandering for two years after she left her former pride. It felt good to be away from their unending brutality. She never found a hint of the pride-mate she was sent out to find and she was glad for that. She stalked through the land before her and stopped when she could smell other lions. Male lions. She followed the scent and spotted them. She kept her distance, wary of what might happen.

Scipio crouched down into the defensive position he was so used to and growled, the wind was dispersing the smell of the other male - he didn't know where he was standing.

It was possible... Probably a pride member of the dominant male in the area. He would have to leave soon and find yet another tucked away area to reside.

Nzuri

The felis padded through unknown territory, scanning the empty landscape. Her pride needed more land, as it had begun to grow. With the next season more cubs would arrive, and she needed land to support them. She shook out her thin mane, growling at the occasional bug that would fly near her ears. Nzuri hissed something in a foreign language, as she caught the scent of about... Three lions. A lioness, and two males. Her muscles tensed in anticipation yet she didn't go hiding in a bush. The felis was confident in her fighting skills, and sometimes lions were confused by her scent. She had the strong smell of a full grown male, with testosterone. Then she also had the motherly and gentle scent of a mother. Nzuri found it quite amusing when wandering males tried flirting with her, trying to convince her to travel with them and leave her pride. She played along, but not before breaking their hearts and telling them she was a male.

FloweringRiver raised his head, seeing the shape of the male duck down ahead. He wanted to turn back and fetch backup but he knew he couldn't do that. It was only one male anyway, he'd just go ahead and chat to him, he was most likely just traveling through.
He started walking again, his ears perked forward as he kept all his senses locked on the male ahead.
"Hello?" FloweringRiver calls out as he gets a little closer. "Afternoon! Can I help you?" He has a friendliness to his voice, there's no threat within it at all.

Scipio immediately relaxed at the sound of the lion's voice. He took a few seconds to bring his thoughts and stuff his emotions back up inside his heart. He shook his mane quickly and stood tall, and a slight sense of pleasure escaped his jar of emotions when he realised that he was slightly taller. Confidently, he replied:

"I'm just passing through. Would you happen to have a map of territories in the area... say within a day's walk from here."

FloweringRiver feels his shoulder relax as the lion mentions just needing to to pass through. "of course, yes, our king has a map drawn in his den. You can come back to camp with me and he can point you in whatever direction you need to go." The young lion offers. His blue mane almost blends in with the sky above him, the grey of his face like a storm cloud between the blue fur.

For some reason, the beautiful white markings on FloweringRiver's pelt seem to calm Scipio down. Slowly, he walks up to the other male. Scipio didn't like the idea of talking to their king though.

He smiles softly.

"No need, I really should get going soon."

FloweringRiver nods calmly to this. "alright then, where were you heading? maybe I know the way?" He asks seeming eager to help this male on is way. Not a hint of nervousness could be seen within him, his large frame standing tall and confident.

Viper watched as the males went up to each other and started to chat. She couldn’t hear what they were saying and so she decided to venture closer to them. Then a sudden wind blew her scent right towards them and she froze. She didn’t know how they would react to her. She shook out her pelt to clear her mind. No point in going back now… She thought quietly, sighing softly. She shook out her pelt again, shaking away her nerves, and approached them.

“Hello there,” She greeted them, doing her best to seem friendly., though her voice was slightly rough from disuse. The last thing she needed was wounds to keep from getting infected.

FloweringRiver's head turns to Viper's direction, his blue mane rippling like waves around his face. "Oh, you have a pride mate with you" He says, mistaking the two cats cats as travel buddies.
His blue eyes scan her up and down, taking in the sight of her patterned body. She was quite pretty, he had to admit.
He doesn't seem to bothered by the sudden arrival of this lioness. His body remaining relaxed.

Scipio was unsure of how to deal with the situation. Maybe he'd let FloweringRiver think they were together for now, it'd be easier anyway and it would make him less likely to start a fight. He smiled sweetly.

"Um... Yeah! So... Could you point me in the direction of an area which isn't currently part of a dominant lion's territory?"
