This is an official clan thread for the The Lioden Conservatory Clan!

The Lioden Conservatory

Hello there, and welcome to The Lioden Conservatory official clan thread!

Our clan's focus is on the preservation and spreading of rare, breed-only traits. You can read more about our processes in the Criteria & Support Processes section of this thread!

The Lioden Conservatory (LDC) was founded March 1st, 2023, inspired by a similar clan called The Red List of Lioden, originally created by Sprout [#185560], after it was shut down. The founder of LDC, Jester [#187561], loved the idea of The Red List, and was sad to see it go, and so after a few days of planning, LDC was born.

In December of 2023, LDC ownership was transferred to the hands of the creator of The Red List of Lioden, Sprout. With the help of Coolio [#149374] and a few unnamed behind-the-scenes helpers, LDC is poised to continue growing and maintaining lesser-used breed only traits.

This is a general conversational thread. Feel free to converse with your fellow clan members, ask questions, submit studs, and more here!

Conservation Journals are The Lioden Conservatory's own Guide Series! We make these for our members, but make them public to help others. If you want a topic to be covered in a Conservation Journal, you can request it on the Conservation Journal Masterpost!
Meet the Admins!

Sprout [#185560] is our kind and generous leader, owner of the clan and head admin. She has final say on all-matters relating to the clan and oversees all clan-related activities. As our resident idea woman, Sprout works to steer LDC towards a brighter, BO-filled future. Any questions or suggestions about LDC can be directed towards her through PM. If absolutely necessary, you can probably bribe her with a pretty Pecora

Coolio [#149374] is in charge of communication and presentation (a fancy word for making things pretty). If you're reading something from LDC, chances are it was her. Including any updates to this thread! She also helps manage the daily going-ons of the clan, including Discord activity. If Sprout seems too scary, you are more than welcome to message her with any questions or concerns

Marsha [#431178] is our emotional support admin. Don't let that 400K ID fool you, she knows as much about BO breeding as just about anybody on this site. Marsha handles miscellaneous tasks, such as raffles or helping Coolio sound coherent. You're not going to see a lot from her here, but mention Asali in our Discord and there's a pretty good chance you'll encounter her. Any clan-related PMs are better sent to Sprout, Coolio, or Kita than Marsha

Coffeekita [#308641] is our newest admin as of June 2024! Kita is a Lilac and Nudar project breeder, and you will most certainly recognize her if you’ve spent some time in our Discord server. She’ll be covering most of the same responsibilities as the rest of the admins - so feel free to message her with any clan questions or inquiries.
The Monthly Spotlight: OGDOAD

Our June spotlight is Ogdoad! We of course had to go with a June combo, and this babygirl’s deep lovely purples make her a fan favorite even amongst those of us more nat-focused
Clan Partnerships

As of June 2023, The Lioden Conservatory now partners with clans we feel align with our goals! We look for clans with a focus on breed-only traits, the economy, or clans we feel will align with the interest of our members. If the clan is interested in a partnership, an admin will reach out to you. We require nothing of our partners, there are no fees, you do not have to promote us in anyway. We will post a link to your clan on our clan page, and also include any prominent information in a clan message.

We also encourage those seeking partnerships to reach out. If you feel your clan will make a good fit for LDC's members, feel free to get in contact with Sprout or Coolio. The worst thing that can happen is we decide our Clans aren't a fit!

Criteria & Support ProcessesSo, you know we try to prevent rare breed-only traits from going extinct, but how do we do that? Well, it's simple! We evaluate submitted traits based on three categories, which are: Vulnerable, Endangered, and Critically Endangered. You can see more about these categories, including the traits in them, here on our clan page!
Traits that are determined to be Critically Endangered have our utmost attention. Traits from other categories are a lower priority, as they often have very dedicated breeders despite their own rarity. Generally, the traits that end up in 'Critically Endangered' have very, very few, or no dedicated breeders to their cause.

In order for a trait to be evaluated and placed into one of our riskiness categories, it is required to meet all of the following criteria:

• Be primarily obtained through breeding, and not be a rosette. You can check base eligibility here, and marking eligibility here. We would evaluate rosettes, but due to the random rosette mechanic, they usually end up spreading just fine on their own!

• Be in game, available to breed, for more than six months. We recommend checking against the Raffle Lioness Directory to see when the trait was introduced in game, as many traits were introduced in prior newposts but not available for a few weeks to months afterwards.

• Be one of the following: Base, Marking, Eye Color, Mane Shape, Mane Color, or Skin. We do not evaluate individual marking slots. As much as we would like too, there are far too many rare marking slots in game to make it even close to practical.

• Have less than 750 living lions in game as of the time of evaluation OR be an NCL + Groupie Exclusive Base with less than 60 kings.

Once a trait is evaluated and placed into a riskiness category, there are a few different approaches we'll take to try and support it, which depend on the trait itself.

When it comes to Eyes, Skins, Markings, Mane Shapes, or Mane Colors, admins will take in lions with the trait, found either via buying from TC, buying from clan members, or the occasional donation, breed the lion in order to get cubs with the trait, and then raffle off cubs to clan members! We also take in donations to go straight to raffle, if you'd prefer, though allowing admins to breed it will make the process of getting it out significantly faster!

For bases, we have to approach it a slightly different way. Many of the bases that are placed on our list can be expensive, either due to no one selling them, or just because something happened and they jumped in value (looking at you, Pearl). We call these our conservation programs.
Breeder Adoption Program (BAP)

IMPORTANT NOTE that BAP is currently closed. This following section is included for when we are able to open it up again, which we do plan to!

If you are breeding any breed-only base, the clan will provide you with up to FIVE (5) breeders per month, subject to change depending on demand. This countdown resets on the first of the month, due to the fact our storage account rolls only once per 29 days. Also due to this, applications for this program are usually handled in large batches near the end of the month, rather than immediately. The lions are randomly assigned to you, in order to make sure we will be able to get through our stores. If you are unhappy with anything you're sent, please let an admin know as soon as possible so we can get the process of swapping it out done ASAP.

Given how this program is only possible due to the kindness of your fellow conservationists, we ask that you DO NOT resell these lions. Most of the lions that are part of this program were donated by them, and it's just disrespectful to the users who donated these lions to allow users to resell. If you wish to get rid of your breeders, please PM Jester see if they're able to be used by the clan, give them away in the clan discord, or chase them. Reselling breeders will result in a verbal warning for the first offense, and a boot from the clan for the second offense. We do keep track of all breeders and who they go to, just to better keep track of this.

For non-combo bases, we will try to match genetics whenever possible, but it may not always happen. Please make sure to note that color group, shade, and gradient have no effect on the pass rate of special bases- no matter the genetics, a Special x Rare / Uncommon breeding will always have a 2% chance for the Special base.
We'd also like to remind you that the factor bases used in combo breeding have no effect on the success rate of combos, either. A Smog x Albino and a Smog x Smog breeding have the same exact chance to produce a Smog based cub.

This program is only available through application. Please note that while we would like to fulfill every single application exactly as you would like, this is not always possible. In order to apply, please PM Sprout with the following application filled out:

Username & ID:
Base You're Breeding:
How many breeders do you need?: Up to FIVE (5) per month, this resets on the first of the month.
Any special requests?: This is where you'll put things like clean/dirty, any traits you'd like, etc. We do not promise breeders offered will match these, but we will try our best.
Heir Incentive Program (HIP)

IMPORTANT NOTE that HIP is currently closed. This following section is included for when we are able to open it up again, which we do plan to!

If you are kinging an Endangered Base or Critically Endangered base, the clan will help you source an heir, and provide up to 10 or 25, respectively, to cover retirement costs.

This comes with a few stipulations, though, to ensure you're not attempting to take advantage of the clan's kindness. Depending on the severity of the infraction, you may get anywhere from a verbal warning to an immediate boot from the clan. These are as follows:

• You have THREE (3) days, from when they are sent to you, to king your clan-provided heir.
• You have to keep your clan-provided king for a minimum for THIRTY (30) days from date kinged. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis, such as project steps!
• Your clan-provided king may be closed to the public, but we require you to allow other clan members to stud.

Please note that not all applications will be accepted. We want to try and prevent one base from taking over. We want you to enjoy your kings, so we ask for any preferences you may have, though we cannot always promise that we can meet these preferences. If you are unhappy with the options we present to you, you can always rescind your application. Applications containing Critically Endangered Bases, or bases we already have in stock, will be given priority. We will not provide mutation reps or put money towards mutation reps for these, the only way you will get a mutated king is if the lion we buy happens to be mutated. We also ask that you please make sure to rollover, or at least be online, on the day of the roll. We make sure to notify for roll dates both in the clan description, and in clan messages. If you are not active on the day, we will not send the heir in order to keep it from potentially going on an unused account.

In order to apply for the Heir Incentive program, please PM Sprout with the following application filled out:

Username & ID:
Base You'd Like to Breed:
Endangered or Critically Endangered:
Time Left on Retirement Cooldown: Please provide a screenshot of the retiring your king page. This gives us an idea of how long we have to find a suitable heir for you.
How much GB will you need?:
Any trait preferences?: List things such as clean or dirty, dark markings, eye colors, skin colors, etc., here. We will do our best to follow these, but we cannot promise every heir we have will fit all of your specifications.

FAQThis is our FAQ section! In addition to having some general questions, we will add any questions we get often, as well!

General Questions

Q: Are there any requirements to join the clan?
A: None at all! We believe conservation is a cause everyone can get behind. There are no requirements to join The Lioden Conservatory, no fees, no quotas, absolutely nothing is required of you to be a member.

Q: Do you have a Clan Discord?
A: Yes, we do! A link the clan Discord is sent out on the first of the month in our monthly newsletter. If that link has expired, you can pm Coolio for a new link. Please be patient while awaiting your roles to be assigned, and make sure to introduce yourself.

Q: How do I donate lions?
A: Please PM any admin to see if the lion you'd like to donate is eligible and the steps you should take!

Q: What made you guys decide to preserve rare traits?
A: Masochism

Breeder Adoption Program Questions

Q: How do I request breeders for bases?
A: You can request breeders for your base by sending a PM to Jester and informing us of the base you're breeding.

Q: What bases are eligible?
A: All breed-only bases are eligible for the program, even ones we don't monitor! Please note that those breeding more Endangered bases will likely be given higher priority than others, as there's only so many breeders to go around!

Q: What are the requirements to donate for this program?
A: We require all prospective donations to be female cubs or adolescents, have at least five (5) breed-only traits, and to be combo factors, uncommon bases, or rare bases.

Q: Do I need to donate to benefit from this program?
A: No, absolutely not. While we encourage you to donate any fail cubs that may not fit your personal project, it is not in any way required. We do not require anything of you, other than being a clan member, to benefit from this program.

Heir Incentive Program Questions

Q: How does the Heir Incentive Program work?
A: The incentive program works by providing hopeful breeders of Endangered or Critically Endangered traits with the resources to get started. Often times, the biggest hurdle to people joining breeding projects like these is the initial cost. We hope that, by alleviating these initial costs, it encourages more people to join in and stay involved in the process.

Q: How often can I apply?
A: If you are accepted, you'll need to wait a minimum of SIX (6) months to reapply, from the date of you receiving your heir. If your request is rejected, however, you can reapply after a waiting period of THREE (3) days. We will always let you know why your request was rejected, so you can reapply with a different base, attributes, or what have you.
If you rescind your application, you will still need to wait the SIX (6) months to reapply as you were accepted.

Q: How can I donate lions specifically for this program?
A: We require lions donated for HIP and HIP specifically to be Special Bases, or hard to get combo factors. We would like donations to have at least three (3) breed-only traits, though we do not enforce this unless it's a base we already have heirs for. You can start the process of donating by PM'ing any admin with the lion you'd like to donate.Heir Incentive Program Questions

I am absolutely flabbergasted and bedazzled by the amazing base you’ve highlighted for this month. Mudstone is the ideal base, and some may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like - hence why I will crawl through miles of small meat chunks, glass, and pain to breed those beautiful bastards.

Excellent write-up on here & your clan page, it was a super informative and enjoyable read, even an impeccable, perfect, strapping Mudstone such as myself could learn a thing or two.

Another critically endangered NCL base found, yay! There’s just something about saving bases, markings, and the like from going completely extinct that really appeals to me. I’ll be hanging onto them in unsorted for now along with the CEB I found a few days ago, they’ll be open for whoever wants em :3

Glad to see this thread still up and active. Loving the look of new stud list

With that being said, I'd love to add both my kings to the list. Their stud fees are still quite low (300 SB each), but I'll definitely put in a discount for clan members if their demand ever picks up. I roll every day on both accounts, and plan to keep both kings until they turn 15

My main boy Zau was crowned specifically because of a lack of Egyptian breeders with good BO traits. He's got a Maat base, 8 tier 2 marks (plus 2 tier 3 NCL marks), Sunglow eyes, and a Goldenrod mane for anyone looking for Sphinx breeding: https://www.lioden.com/lion.php?mid=14743

My side boy Everest is for all those Ice combo coats. He's got 7 tier 2 marks, 1 July mark, and 2 tier 3 NCL marks alongside a Royal Cairngorm mane and Jasper eyes for any Cosmic breeders: https://www.lioden.com/lion.php?mid=418426

To preface this message, I’m holding in a lot right now - I went absolutely SICKO mode when I saw your well-thought out clan message. There’s power in them BOs.

While I am not nearly as absolutely flabbergasted and bedazzled by Ukame as compared to the luxurious Mudstone, I will boldly admit it, I, too, enjoy Ukame as an elusive Man-Eating stud exclusive. I shall set out to breed one this month in the name of spreading our beautiful baby golds like the plague.

The LDC Conservation log was comprehensive and user-friendly for a boomer (like me). There’s not so many guides out there so far that are nearly as thorough, I really appreciate it all in one tidy guide (bc sometimes it takes some digging!) This is a friendly warning, with peace and love, that it has been promptly bookmarked. Also, you called that “real fancy,” sweaty? I’d go as far to say it’s DAMN exquisitely fancy, with the force of 1000 Stoners. Watch out.

Hello! I have a WIP Damu king. He's kinda ugly right now but will eventually be a g2 smilus. His lineage will probably get long before he's a proper stud, but if be happy to have him on the stud list :3

He's currently g2 with 3 BO marks.

@Alex: LDC only focuses on Special BO bases since they are more difficult to breed!

Rares can fail from nearly any rarity pairing combo, but in order to pass a Special base, one of the parents must have the base you’re breeding for (unless it’s a combo base, of course!)

Even if we did do Rares, we only check the status of traits after they’ve been in game for at least 6 months. So all of the base pack bases that were released recently wouldn’t be on the list yet!
