Crow

The crow dilated its pupils to seem like a normal crow. It cawed curiously at the lions, perching on a nearby log. It acted like an ordinary crow, pecking at beetles. It hopped across the log, tilting its head at bugs. The crow refolded its wings, and stared at the males. The corvid knew it had to act dumb, like normal birds are. Such as random and erratic cawing, and always trying to get food.

Aleafy & HeartStrong - {Crow}

Aleafy watches the bird quietly, raising an eyebrows at HeartStrong a few seconds when nothing happens. "HeartStrong.. maybe you're just tired after your trip, why don't you rest".
"No, your Majesty, you have to believe me. This crow, it was from the lands I visited. I mean look at it's eyes, you can tell this isn't a normal crow!" He turns to his leader, desperation on his face. "This... Thing,.. is not just a normal bird, it works with them" He snarls, looking back to the crow. "Stop playing dumb you stupid bird!"
"HeartStrong.." Aleafy tries to calm the frantic Guard, nudging him back towards the camp. "Come on, lets get something to eat and then you should rest for the remainder of the day. FloweringRiver can take over guard duty tonight. We'll discuss our plan of action tomorrow"
"Aleafy-"
The king cuts off his words by lightly pressing the end of his tail to HeartStrong's muzzle, promptly quieting him.

Crow

It examines the males, tilting its head. It seems to understand everything they are saying. Once it hears Heartstrong calling it dumb, the bird stretches out its large wings. The crow clicks its beak together. It takes off, its eyes returning to unnatural slits. The crow glares at Heartstrong with piercing yellow eyes. It's black feathers glimmering in the sun. The corvid lets out an unnatural hiss. It uncurls its huge talons. It opens its beak, speaking in an unnatural, foreign voice, "Wanaume wenye huruma, hivi karibuni utakuwa unacheza na kifo mwenyewe."

Aleafy & HeartStrong - {Crow}

Both the males take a step back in shock. "What is it saying??" HeartStrong growls, ears pinned back.
Aleafy stays silent, staring at it. The realization that what his Guard said, was true, sinks in. "I don't know, but it didn't sound friendly" The fur on the back of his neck bristles slightly with worry.
"That's the last thing we need right now" HeartStrong snarls "Bugger off!" He yells up to the crow "Leave our lands before you cause trouble that doesn't need to be caused. Prideful, egotistical little-!!"
"HertStrong enough, don't start a fight" Aleafy himself seems to be growing frustrated now, his worry showing on his face.

Crow - [heartstrong & aleafy]

The crow hovers in the air, its wings beating against the air. Its slitted pupils narrow at Heartstrong. It clicks its beak together, almost as laughter. It speaks again, this time in the lion's language. "Do not test me, mortal." the yellow eyes glare.
It slowly turns to Aleafy. A glint of amusement forming in the cat-like eyes. "Death is coming for you. She stalks your pride. She is everywhere." the crow hisses. It seems to examine the pride leader.

"I know, But I wish to avoid it" He says taking a step towards the crow. There's no tenseness or hostility in his movements, simply moving closer in order to address and speak to this strange bird. "I assume you are from the Corvid pride then? The one I sent HeartStrong to?"
Aleafy's head is raised, staring up at the large crow as it hovers in the air, covering the light of the sun like an eclipse covers the moon.

Crow- [heartstrong & aleafy]

The crow glares at the pride leader. It's slitted pupils filled with hostility. "There is no avoiding her. She'll disembowel you until there's *nothing* left. Not even for the vultures." the dark bird is beginning to get frustrated. Its feathers glisten in the sunlight. "You don't ask questions." it cuts the male's question off. The bird suddenly looks away, and turns its body. The crow gives a caw before it flies away. Its figure slowly disappears as it flies quickly over the plains.

Queen Nzuri

The rosetted felis licks her fur, making sure she looks perfect. Her head raises as she spots a large crow. She licks her paw, raising it over her face as she cleans herself. The crow dips its head in respect, before speaking in a foreign language. It tells the Queen of the other pride's plans, strengths, and weaknesses. The Queen listens intently, her beautiful eyes trained on the crow's figure. The crow signals it is done speaking when it looks away from her eyes, breaking the contact. The felis rises to her paws, beckoning an adolescent over. The young lion prances over, and looks up at her Queen. Nzuri whispers something in the young lion's ear, a glint of shock and surprise in the adolescent's eyes. The Queen flicks her ear in dismissal, stalking over to the ancient tree in the middle of camp.

The pride senses the oncoming meeting, and walk over. Nzuri sits down on a large, flat boulder next to the tree. The shade of the tree felt nice on her hot fur. The felis stares down at her pride, before speaking. "The crows tell me of information gathered from the pride beyond." the pride immediately perk their ears in interest. "They are hungry, desperate for allies. We will take advantage of this weakness." she pauses, before continuing. "As you know, our pride is growing. Constantly. More cubs are on their way, and we need more hunting grounds to support our future. The pride beyond has bountiful hunting grounds, with green grass, and plenty of trees." the lionesses below mutter in hope. "I will lead a group of lionesses, at dawn. We will distract the pride and their leader. While the rest of us close in, and take the territory." the pride below roars in excitement.

The Queen raises a paw for silence. "We won't kill any females unless needed, cubs, adolescents, and young lionesses may join us. But, as you know. Kill all males on sight, even cubs." the pride roars in agreement. The Queen dismisses the pride, before walking over to her high ranking lionesses.

they probably wont kill anyone, unless you are fine with it. most of the killed lions are gonna be fake, NPCS you could say ))

Silently the two males watch as the crow leaves, it's warning hanging heavy in the air.
HeartStrong looks to Aleafy "The crow wasn't talking about hunger killing us.. you knwo that, right?"
The king stays silent to this, the threat that had been said now sinking in. "But why" He looks to HeartStrong "Why would they be so hostile towards us, what did you say to them"
"Absolutely nothing that would need this kind of reaction" He spits angrily in response. "We need to do something. They're going to be planning something, especially if they sent that crow to spy." He turns to his king "Resting can wait, we need to talk now."
Aleafy nods in agreement. "Gather FloweringRiver, OceansSorrows, Dancer and Dark Tigress" With that said he trots back in the direction of his den, StrongHeart racing ahead of him to gather the lions and lionesses he asked for.

Nzuri

She stands quietly as the lionesses, Capella, Matsidi, and Reba argue. Nzuri clears her throat and they all turn to stare at her. “I understand your worries.” She says calmly, trying to keep the tensions down. “I promise. We will not kill anyone unless needed, unless they attack back.” The pride pauses to eavesdrop on their conversation. Nzuri goes quiet, thinking for a second. She looks up at the surrounding canyon cliffs, and crows line them, listening intently. “Me and the crows will distract them.” She sits on her haunches, neatly curling her tail around her body. Roars of outrage spark from the pride.

The Queen closes her eyes, listening to the roars. She opened her eyes, and snapped up with a roar. The pride instantly went quiet. “They will keep me safe, I am sure of that.” She smiled, a crow fluttered down to land on her shoulder. The pride seemed to agree, nodding and giving murmurs of approval.

Nzuri looked at her pride, her posture tall and confident. “We shall feast now, on the prey our crows provide us with.” She looked over to the cave of prey, underneath a ledge. “After that we will rest, I will wake everyone and we will take over the pride at dawn.” Her ears flicked as the pride roared their approval. She made her way over to the ledge, laying down at a zebra carcass. Her pride followed.

Aleafy

Aleafy paced within his den. Back and forth, back and forth.
His tail flicked restlessly at the new danger his pride now faced. How could things have taken such a horrible turn?
Soon the sounds of paw steps approaching made him pause, three males and two females entering the den.
"Your Majesty?" A soft but gravely voice spoke, A large lion with a stunning blue mane stepped forward although he didn't stand in front of HeartStrong.
"Yes, all of you, come inside" Aleafy answers. The Lions and Lionesses all share glances with each other, seeming more concerned now seeing their usually calm king so agitated.
A dark lioness raises her head, the stripes on her fur rippling from her movements as she sits. "Is this about the cubs.?" She asks, concern in her voice.
"luckily it isn't, although it may involve them" The king speaks quietly, he stays standing as the others take a seat around the den. "As you all know, I have been sending HeartStrong out to different prides to try form alliances." His tail brushes against the floor. "So far we've had no luck.. and today we've had a negative outcome"
Dancers eyes narrow at his words, and HeartStrong's lip twitches with irritation and the memory.
"What do you mean negative?" FloweringRiver's eyes fill with concern.
Aleafy takes a deep breath, but before he could answer, Dark Tigress speaks. "Is it a good idea to speak about this with.. OceansSorrow's here?" Her eyes turn to the young adolescent at HeartStrong's side. His ears perk and he looks questioningly at the lioness. "Why can't I be here? I was called to be apart of this meeting" His voice sounds slightly pleading, worried of being kicked out.
"He's supposed to be here, I asked for him. If he is to be our next king, then he must know the struggles his pride faces" Aleafy answers. "And we may be in danger"

Nzuri

A young piebald adolescent approached the Queen slowly. Her dark gray, with flecks of tawny, and the clashing white fur was admired in the pride. Nzuri licked at the zebra, tearing flesh away. The adolescent sat on her haunches, and cleared her throat. The Queen looked up, and licked her lips. “What do you need Sayha? You know you need to get your strength up.” The felis beckoned for the adolescent to join her, moving aside and making space. “Thank you, but I wanted to talk to you… About tomorrow.” Sayha laid down beside Nzuri, gnawing at the striped hide. The rosetted felis chewed for a second, and swallowed. “What are your concerns?” She asks before continuing to eat. The adolescent stopped eating, and looked at her Queen.

“Is this truly alright..? It doesn’t feel good to know you’re gonna kill and chase out lions from their home.” Sayha lowered her ears in submission. Nzuri sat up, her muscles flexing. The adolescent seemed to shrink in her pelt as the Queen did so, the felis was much larger than the young lioness. “We need food, the crows wont be able to sustain us for much longer.” She paused, and continued. “That territory, is prime territory. It has fresh grasses, perfect for herds. And bountiful rain and water.” She licked the blood from her lips, looking down at Sayha. “Cubs are dying. One of the nursing mothers lost her entire litter due to dehydration.”

The Queen looked down at her paws, honoring the cub’s lives. Sayha did the same, bowing her head. After a few moments they looked up. “I understand. But, why can’t we try and talk to them? Negotiate.” Sayha avoided the Queen’s eyes. The adolescent knew she was bound to be punished for her behavior. She was in no place to challenge the Queen’s decisions. Nzuri ignored the question. She laid back down, and ate. The adolescent looked around and saw Capella glaring at her. She knew what would be coming for her tonight.

Aleafy (And others)

Aleafy tries to regain some composure, not wanting to alarm his family or allow his nervousness to rub off onto them. "We believe there may be a possible attack on our pride soon. HeartStrong has brought something to my attention, and I think we need to prepare for the worst."
"What happened?" DarkTigress looks on with concern, her tail has started to move restlessly, her calmness vanishing at the mention of an attack. "Who's going to attack us"
"We don't know-"
"Attack??" Dancer jumps to her paws. "You're joking right!? No one is this pride is in shape to handle an attack, especially if-"
Please, lower your voice" Aleafy tries to keep control of the situation as the lionesses start to panic, Even FloweringRiver has gotten to his paws now as well, alarm in his eyes.
"EVERYONE!" OceansSorrow's voice yells amongst the panicked rumbles. No one hears him, his voice not reaching their ears. HeartStrong does hear him though, and his jaws part to roar loudly, causing them all to fall silent.
The young heir gives a grateful look to the usually aggressive guard, and surprisingly he returns it with an unusually gentle look.
Everyone's heads turn to HeartStrong, and then to OceansSorrow's when he starts to speak. "Panicking is NOT going to help this situation" He says sternly, stamping a paw on the floor, sending up a puff of dust. "Even if we don't fight.. or can't.. there are other ways we can defend ourselves"
Dancer turns to glare at him, her snarled muzzle inches from his face. "Listen, you may be the next king, but that doesn't mean you can get all high and mighty with us, you've still just a scrawny little-"
With a loud snarl, HeartStrong crouches to the Huntresses eye level, putting himself between the two. "It isn't wise to speak to your prince that way. Especially when he's trying to save your skin."

Capella

She glared at the young adolescent. The ferus had overheard the entire conversation. Satisfaction ran through her body as Sayha looked at her, fear rimming her eyes. She strongly disliked when lions undermined her Queen, especially when they had no right to do so. The orange-red fur along the scruff of her neck bristled. Her muscle flexed underneath her fur. The adolescent's brown eyes were wide as she stared back at the ferus. Sayha muttered something to the Queen, and Nzuri nodded, and continued eating. The adolescent walked away from the Queen, stalking over to an antelope calf carcass. Capella quietly followed. Her paws were silent against the dry ground. As she passed the Queen, Nzuri looked up. The felis gazed with interest.

Capella walked over to Sayha, and towered over her. The adolescent's ears pinned as she saw the shadow of Capella, standing right behind her. The young piebald lioness turned her head slowly, looking at the ferus. Sayha tucked her tail close to her body. The adolescent slowly shifted, crouching now. Her eyes were narrow, a small growl emitting from her throat. The ferus towered over the adolescent, her head low, and shoulders high.

The adolescent lifted a paw, and Capella lashed out, jumping at the piebald. Sayha rolled onto her back, clawing at Capella with all four paws. The ferus clawed back, spitting and roaring. Capella lifted a paw, and landed a heavy blow to the adolescent's flank. Sayha roared in pain, and lifted her head, sinking her teeth into the ferus's soft belly.

OceansSorrows

Slowly he takes a small step back, giving himself distance between himself and the angry lioness. He didn't take her comments personally, she was hungry and stressed, and now with the looming threat of an attack she had obviously reached a tipping point.
"HeartStrong.. It's okay" At his words the Large Guard steps down although his eyes remain locked onto the hostile Lioness, her fur still bristled. She steps back as well, a stiffness in her muscles.
"I think there's a lot of ways we can respond to this, the biggest issue being the cubs within our pride" He continues talking, not allowing this encounter to dampen his hopeful moodlet. "If there's going to be an attack, I assume that's where the attackers would go first, Our next generation. If you kill the cubs, the pride will not survive"
Aleafy nods in agreement with his words, a pride in his eyes at the young Lion's way of thinking. "He's right, our first priority right now should not be the attack its self, but the protection of our young"
DarkTigress steps forward, a determined look now on her face, hiding the fear that had been there moments ago as her mothering instincts kick in. "I know a place not far from here, there's a cave with a pond, it's hidden in the trees and is tricky to find if you don't know it's there. I don't know if the cubs could make the journey though. it would take a full day with them walking since they would need to rest often, But I could take them there with help from the other cub sitters"
"I'll help too!" FloweringRiver quickly steps over to the dark Lionesses side. "I'll be able to carry a few cubs on my back without getting tired, that might speed up the journey, We want the cubs exposed for as little as possible"
"I think a huntress should go as well, you'll need to stay there at this safe spot for a few days until we know everything is safe so you'll need food, take some prey with you as well for the trip" OceansSorrow instructs and Dancer raises her head "I'll go with them, I'm the lead huntress and have the most experience. Since only one huntress is going, they'll need one that is guaranteed to catch something without help."
Aleafy nods to all of this, thinking quietly. "I think this will work, you should move out immediatly, DarkTigress, do as OceansSorrow's has said and gather the other cub sitters, take prey with you for the trip and perhaps a day extra-" He glances at Dancer, not wishing to offend the already touchy lioness. "-Just in case"
She nods, standing, her stripped pelt rippling as she makes her way quickly back out the den with FloweringRiver following behind her.
