You fall into a deep sleep and awaken in a sea of clouds, you’re a bit confused but glance around with excitement, hoping to find a special creature to bring home with you. In the distance you can spot a pond that seems to glow in the evening light. However, your eyes catch a glint in the clouds beside you, and wisps of cloud float up as if something is moving within it. But before you can react, skitters away, sending tufts of cloud up behind it. Where will you go? ![]() Edited on 21/05/25 @ 10:57:04 by Vixen (#195527) |

Temporarily distracted by the skittering beside me, I watch the tufts of cloud wisp away as whatever was moving gets further away. I shake my head and instead set off towards the pond, frolicking in the soft clouds as I do. ![]() |

You chase the horizon, approaching the crystal pool, tiny fish swim beneath its glittering surface, their black eyes like beads in their skulls and their scales shimmer in more colors than you could imagine. ![]() |

I reach down to scoop one up... but think better of it. I don't want to scare it, or hurt it and who knows what celestial properties these things might possess. Instead, I reach into the pack I carry with me and pull out a delicate pink and pearl seashell - large but fragile, and set it in the pool, wondering if any curious critter might swim it's way inside.... ![]() |

Your seashell glitters in the pool for a moment before one of the fish approaches it curiously, gently cleaning it of any dirt and grime. As you lean towards the water, you notice how deep this pond really goes, far beyond the reaches of the sun in its clear depths, and a small cave is etched into its side, covered by a blanket of flowering plants under the water. All around you, the clouds glow orange in the fading sunlight and each fish reflects a distinct golden hue in its scales. ![]() |

I find myself curious about the cave down below... very curious. It's in my nature to want to explore new things to the fullest. However, I am almost certain that if I do go down there... I will scare this little fish right off. And admittedly, I'm quite content to just sit here and watch all the way the colors dance across it's scales. So I sit right here, and I wait patiently in the budding twilight. Sounds good! Have a good day/night :) ![]() Edited on 21/05/25 @ 11:39:05 by Merrennor (#153280) |

At the entrance to the cave you can definitely see the flash of two eyes, warm in the light of the setting sun, but hidden by the shadows of the greenery and flowers. A few more little rainbow fish come up from the depths, all curious at the little shell, and you, for that matter. You can almost see excited smiles on their faces, but that might just be your imagination. ![]() |

I tilt my head at the eyes in the depths, feeling my curiosity almost get the better of me.... but still. I'm committed to this little spot, watching the fishes and their glittering scales. ![]() |

As more fish swim up from the depths, a single one seems to stray too close to the cave mouth, a flash of movement catches your eye and where that fish once was, only empty water remains. The swish of the plant life the only indication that anything was ever there. ![]() |

On my linked acc now I sit up abruptly, frowning at the cave mouth. Little as the fish may be, they are gentle, and beautiful, and for some reason I find myself rather upset at the loss of one. I take a step into the dazzling pool, surprised at the temperature. I continue to take cautious steps forward until I can put myself between the cave mouth and the fish behind me, my hand twitching towards the dagger sheathed on my belt. ![]() |

Deep within the cave, a voice seems to beckon you... "My, such bravery, the folly of man I suppose..." Curiosity seems to echo in its tone. "You do not seem to desire that which leads me to survival, to live I must eat, and to eat I must kill. For though in great beauty, these creatures are merely another wrung on the ladder of life." Though perhaps... you may teach gentleness... ![]() Edited on 22/05/25 @ 15:55:01 by Vixen (#195527) |

I shiver a little, in the wake of the voice, but I do not waver. "As much as it is natural for you to wish to survive, it is natural for myself, as a human, to seek out and protect the weak. To try and right what we perceive as wrongs, however full of folly that may be. You claim what you do is only nature, you claim this is how it must be, and yet we can do that which seems innocuous, for far more sinister reasons. Tell me, creature of the shadows, do you lurk in the cave for fear of the light, or for the thrill of the hunt; so you might revel in the fear and terror of that which you catch? Nature is not inherently cruel - it is simply indifferent. I am not convinced that is the game you are playing here." I stand in the shadows, hand held taught on my dagger, while the colorful fish dart around behind me in the shallows. Goosebumps begin to pepper my arms and legs in the cooling evening air, but I do not wish to move. Stubbornness, and perhaps a touch of curiosity roots me to this spot. ![]() |
