So... anyone heard of Asiatic lions? They're a lion subspecies found in Asia, not Africa, and typically have much shorter and thinner manes than an African lion. Now, I know we have the 'scarce' mane,but that's not really what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a mane that looks a bit more like the adolescent's.. or like in these images:      As you can see, the mane is much thinner than a normal lion's mane and generally smaller. However, unlike the scarce mane, it still trails down to the chest and back, hanging down a bit. EDIT: Forgot to mention: The tail tuft. Asiatics have much larger and fluffier tail tufts than African lions ;3 Also, it'd be nice if this mane could also have a bit of fur trailing down the stomach and on the elbows, as that's also an Asiatic characteristic and would look nice. :3 |

I know, lol. I was adding on to that. XD My point is being made to the people saying we can't have it 'cuz it's not African, not you. XD Cuz. Ya know.. if we can have a lion mane found only in captivity, we can have a mane based on an asian lion, but not actually BE an asian lion. Darp.  0 players like this post! Like? |

I think it all comes from the fact that everyone has differing views of what they consider realistic. It causes people to butt horns a lot on these suggestions. Shh, he's not fat he's just squat and big boned! The second guy has some serious cream undercover with light spotting maybe onyx smudge underneath. I can't pin down the base he looks like though. It's like a mix of gray and cream. EDIT: I made him for fun cause why not, might also ease the tension. He's got the most variation in color I've ever seen in a real lion.  0 players like this post! Adding on: Confirmed to be extinct or not, Barbary lion is/was an African lion subspecies, so it is still valid ._. Dont mind me, just correcting stuff. I have nothing else to add to my opinion however. I am still unsure. 0 players like this post! Like? |

But now it is only found in capitivity and no longer in Africa, yet Lioden focuses on wild lions, not captive ones. We have the mane of a captive-only lion, so why not the mane of a lion found in Asia? It's still a lion. .-. To me, a lion is a lion. Also, another thing I just now realized. That lion in Xylax's signature, the one found in Explore that looks kinda like Scar? He has an asiatic-type mane. So, your points are now no longer valid as there is an NPC in the game with an asiatic mane. EDIT: Okay well, the lion that WAS is Xy's sig. It's been changed since then. But still. Oh god, does it really matter that a mane style is not from Africa? NO. It doesn't. The argument of "waaah, people will want non-african themes D:" is silly, and you know it. It is just a mane style, it doesn't affect game play nor take away from the theme. You've already got people breeding lions with similar markings to tigers, tigers have nothing do with Africa either XD YES, I understand the game is heavily influenced by Africa, but there are worse things than suggesting a new mane style. I support. More mane types bring variety to the game. And honestly, it's not THAT unrealistic. No one says it has to be an asiiatic lion species, just a different mane style that resembles one. As far as I'm concerned, razor and wavy look much more unrealistic, and I still like them, so... **shrug** 0 players like this post! Like? |

I like the idea, personally. The mane type would looks amazing with some colors. As for the note on African vs. Asian, it's like comparing bull elephants in NPC battles. There are around 3 different icons for them, and I doubt you'd be able to tell if they were asian or african if you couldn't compare side by side on height. Besides, as an off-the-record thing, wouldn't it be cool to explore Asia for an event or something? Like, our lions were kidnapped and sent to Asia (like on Madagascar) and the only way to get the mane was to impress lionesses with it? Just a thought I'd add in there :) Might get some cool new markings out of it, too. 0 players like this post! Like? |
