Main idea: He was bought for a few gold beetles and a marking applicator, waiting forever to go to this new pride. Forced to down several liquids that overtime, made wierd new markings to pop up on his fur, and his mane to change. (Basically being changed into a new king.)
Approximate length: As long as possible.

Castiel stood beside the dying king, head dipped in sorrow. As Fynn breathed his last, his mind flashed back to the day he'd been adopted by the once powerful lion. It had been a warm day, too warm even, all sensible animals lying in the shade. A young cub huddled in a small hole, trembling. He didn't know why he was there, he just knew it had something to do with his former pride. They had abandoned him. Suddenly, a large shadow crawled across the savannah, regal yet beautifully terrifying. King Fynn leaned down to peer into the hollow, eyeing the young cub. That had been the first time he'd met Fynn, and now the dying lion was family. Castiel blinked back tears and watched. Outside, the pride tensely awaited news. Finally Fynn's chest rise and fell for the last time. Sadly, Castiel walked out of the den, gazing at the semi-circle of lions. No words were needed. Slowly, everyone dispersed, walking off as if in a daze. There wasn't a lion that wouldn't miss Fynn. Castiel stood up. He was the knew king, and he would earn the trust of his pride.

After the first day of being king, Castiel knew it would work. The pride seemed to have complete trust in him, and no one had minded his mismatched organizing of patrols and hunts. He thought about his best friend's comment sleepily. 'You'll be good for us,' she had said. For the first time since Fynn's death, Castiel felt a smile come to his lips.

Asteri motioned to the lionesses around her. They were on a hunting patrol, and she had been assigned leader. "On three, we jump!" She hissed, meaning the herd of gazellesthat stood nibbling on the rough savannah grass. They nodded, then jumped on three, taking down three of the gazelles in a single attack. Then the other females raced after a few survivors, while Asteri grappled with a large male. He was irregularily strong, and Asteri found herself having trouble. But finally it was brought to the ground as the lionesses turned around to go back to their pride. Asteri was part of the celestial pride, a pride of lions that were all celestials. Sometimes the pretty female wished she could hang around with non celestials, because sge was getting tired if seeing the same marking over and over again. As the lionesses started dragging back their catch, Asteri slipped away, wanting some time to walk around and think. As she neared another territory, she stopped. Not out of fear, as she was naturally swift and could probably outrun attacking lions if there were to many to fight. Instead, a hunting group was stalking an unusually large gazelke. Asteri snorted, the things were ridiculously easy to catch, but maybe that was just for her. As she watched, the head lioness pounced, but the agile deer avoided her and started to run straight to where Asteri was sitting. Without thinking, she leapt towards the animal, pinning it to the ground, then killed it. The other lionesses gathered around her in a semi-circle, glancing at each other nervously. "Listen, we don't want any trouble," stammered the first lioness. "You won't get any," Asteri promptly replied. With one paw, she slid the gazelle towards them. Some of the younger lionesses looked up at her in amazement. Asteri, feeling awkward, decided to leave. The head lioness hurriedly ran up to her. "Please don't leave," she begged. "I know King (insert king's name here) will be so happy you helped us. Are you a loner?" She asked. Asteri thought hard. If she said no, she could leave, and life would go on normally. If she said yes, however, she might be invited to join their pride. A prude not made up of celestial lions would be nice, thought Asteri. Finally she answered, "yes, but I'm actually looking for a better one. Do you mind if I join yours?" She looked at them hopefully. The head lioness nodded eagerly. "Oh yes!" She replied enthusiastically. "Our king accepts any lioness, and especially if they can hunt the way you do!" Asteri soon found herself caught up following the other lionesses , a warm feeling spilling over her. She was going home.
