Newbies are being targeted by experienced players, please share this to spread the word!

Scamming is the worst, and it's when a person tells you that they need xxx and will ''pay you later'', but they never do, and they make off with your xxx

Here are surefire ways to get scammed

Traditional studding

What is it?

It's when you send a lioness along with a payment of ### to have her bred. The breeder keeps her for 3 days (you can't transfer pregger lionesses) and waits for the cubs to be born.

Traditional breeding is unsafe. Just because there are honest studs doesnt mean all studs are nice. I've heard stories of people doing traditional breeding and they had their lioness stolen. But i recommend using the current system because it is much safer then sending your lionesss over to an *unknown* person. Staff can't give you your lioness back, but they can persuade the scammer to give you the lioness back.

User suggestions

Also, transfering items to a person when they say they "will pay soon" and never does. Better to make the trade private and send them the link, keep it up until they actually buy the trade out. ~Sheba (Double
Russet!) (#52208)

Also, ARTISTS, never send not watermarked full size piece before someone pays you!
Small, heavily watermarked one first. Finished one, after payment. Always! ~Ranfun [PFM] [OC] (#46507)

Also a thing I see: people selling elderly lionesses who can't breed :/ Especially when they're advertised in breeding terms, like..."Celestial Lioness 10 marks High Stats." It's not exactly lying or against TOS but for newer players who don't know better it's super misleading. ~Scyllarus (#26842)

*lionesses cannot breed after 14 years of age

ALWAYS read through an offer on a trade, someone may of offered you 8SB rather than the 9GB buyout asking price. You may accidentally click thinking it's GB but make sure to read through thoroughly because this has happened multiple times, luckily I haven't been a victim but I know it was a big problem back in the early days of lioden. ~sanguai (#61810)

Sometimes people will go around and ask newbies if they could send their lionesses to them so that the experienced player (not the newbie) to "train the lioness". But then they'll end up keeping the lioness for themselves. ~~Simba the Fluffy Lion~ (#27778)

I've seen people falsely advertise items, lions/lionesses, etc as something they aren't.
For example, I've seen people advertise lions as "savage maned" when they were in demand for what looked like a great deal. But closer inspection of the lions in question I saw that they had a different mane. But someone could easily be so excited about the "great deal" they are getting buy the trade out and not realize they got scammed till to late. Please check things out if a deal seems to good to be true!

I seen people offer monkey business/oasis/event backgrounds as "RARE SPECIAL RAFFLE ONLY BACKGROUND". And they are selling they turn to be selling none raffle backgrounds for huge overpriced prices. Someone could be scammed by this thinking they are getting a very rare background. Only to find out it was not the case and the background they got scammed into buying could have been bought for a much cheaper price tag.

Remember raffle exclusive backgrounds will have [Raffle] - in front of the name just like dynamic backgrounds will have [D] in front of the name. If it does not have [Raffle] - in front of it. It is not a special raffled background.

Please note there is only been 4 different raffle backgrounds released and used in weekly raffles cycles thus far.
They are "[Raffle] - Coast, [Raffle] - Hottentots Mountains, [Raffle] - Lush Oasis, and [Raffle] - Night Vegetation. ~Ivy (#2473)

Pay close attention to branch prices. Sometimes you'll get something like a simple skull or feather with a price that reads "5 SB, 1 GB" which is incredibly sketchy to me. So pay attention to that when looking for things in branches. ~Lammergeier (#8680) {helper} *I advise new players to stay out of branches because they are usually overprices ex: 1 feather for 2gb

If you are not sure about the pricing, ask {sales} chat! (but follow chat rules)

Please, don't send items/lionesses to players just because they said ''will pay soon'' or ''i dont have the money, but i'll pay you soon'' Please, use the trading system to avoid any scammers. It's best to report them to the modbox with the screenshot of the pm.

You can prevent someone's lion being stolen that way :)

Think i missed something? Post here and i'll add it to the (growing D:) list

Another thing I've seen more of recently is people offering things for sale, usually on threads where the OP is looking for specific items, saying that they'll sell it to them for whatever amount of SB/GB because it's the 'lowest price', so it seems like a good deal. In actual fact when you check trades and branches it turns out there are loads of the same item for sale much cheaper.

Whether that's dishonest or just careless probably depends on the player concerned, but to be safe just remember to check for yourself what an item is currently selling for - don't just take someone's word for it!

I've seen plenty of buyout scams where people throw a GB into a trade buyout/branch price. I always bury my GB so I can't accidentally send them to someone or buy something for way more than I intended.

Wondering if it'd be possible to sticky this thread, since it's got some very helpful tips for new members. If it's getting bumped down now and again, new members won't be aware of it.

-- Just in case no other staff member has stated this... --

In the event that you send your lion away and someone decides to steal/keep it, we will not get involved further than contacting the other party and suggesting lightly that perhaps giving it back would be the right thing to do. If they refuse this, there's nothing we can do, and we won't twist anybody's arms.

An example:
LionLover333 sends her lioness Nala to Simba123 for a "traditional breeding". ("Traditional breedings" are NOT protected, nor site-supported methods of breeding, they are entirely use-at-your-own-risk)
Simba123 decides he wants to keep Nala, and ignores all of LionLover333's messages.
LionLover333 contacts the modbox and says that Simba123 has stolen her lioness Nala and she wants her back, she asks us for help.
We tell LionLover333 that we can't force Simba123 to send back Nala because she was sent over in a method of breeding that we don't protect. We tell LionLover333 that the most we can do is contact Simba123 and suggest he give Nala back.
We contact Simba123 and tell him that LionLover333 is upset over the transaction and would like her lioness back. We tell him that giving Nala back would be a good idea and would be a good thing to do, but this choice is entirely up to him.

Good situation: Simba123 sends Nala back to LionLover333 and she refrains from conducting promise-based transactions (like "traditional breeding") in the future, to avoid being scammed.

Bad situation: Simba123 refuses to send Nala back, and we're forced to wash our hands of the matter. LionLover333 is mad and upset that she lost a good lioness. Hopefully she will refuse any promise-based transactions in the future.

Another good suggestion is that mutations are not breedable like markings or bases. If you breed a Melanism to a Melanism, that DOES NOT produce Melanism cubs. I see people charging boatloads for studding just cuz their cruddy looking boy has Folded Ears or something and people are like "OMG maybe I can get Foldie babies cuz he's a Foldie!" NO. YOU CAN'T. The chance of a mutie is completely random. It's higher if you have a VLF gal, or use a GMO Cow or Lion Meat, and a mutie mom COULD make a mutie cub, but it is in NO WAY "breedable." Please spread the word of that, I just saw something like that in Sales Chat <3

^ Bump ^ These are all very good points and we need to spread the word so no one is scammed or mislead

Also a side note to anyone new Do not buy the 1gb for 150sb trade in the Oasis you can easily get 1000sb + in the trading center for 1gb :-)

Yaaaas Vancha dear, that is genius! I always thought that button was dumb, I think we need to get rid of it XP

And what aquariummagic said on page 4, those trades that are like "Celestial cub!" When the cub has Speckles at like 2 percent -________- I hate that! If a trade says "Lilac Lioness!" Make sure that it's not just a Mongoose NCL looking thing with Lilac Pelage at 5%. Make sure she is Lilac BASED, NOT MARKED. Those are very misleading. Or you could just search for the base and prevent that xD but bewaaaare the scammers!

The traditional breeding is one I don't do at all. I just either
A)Breed my lionesses to my current king or
B)Breed my lionesses to another king(Studding)

And you get to keep your lioness in your pride, with no risk of another user stealing/keeping them!

Another one I see often, people will say things in ads like "Lilac mother/father/grandfather".

Lioden genetics ONLY uses what the lion itself has. If a non lilac based cub has a lilac mother the cub's future offspring will only get the bases that the mother and father throw out. They won't magically be lilac. The parents/grandparents of a lion have 0 effect on the offspring that lion can produce.
