Newbies are being targeted by experienced players, please share this to spread the word!

Scamming is the worst, and it's when a person tells you that they need xxx and will ''pay you later'', but they never do, and they make off with your xxx

Here are surefire ways to get scammed

Traditional studding

What is it?

It's when you send a lioness along with a payment of ### to have her bred. The breeder keeps her for 3 days (you can't transfer pregger lionesses) and waits for the cubs to be born.

Traditional breeding is unsafe. Just because there are honest studs doesnt mean all studs are nice. I've heard stories of people doing traditional breeding and they had their lioness stolen. But i recommend using the current system because it is much safer then sending your lionesss over to an *unknown* person. Staff can't give you your lioness back, but they can persuade the scammer to give you the lioness back.

User suggestions

Also, transfering items to a person when they say they "will pay soon" and never does. Better to make the trade private and send them the link, keep it up until they actually buy the trade out. ~Sheba (Double
Russet!) (#52208)

Also, ARTISTS, never send not watermarked full size piece before someone pays you!
Small, heavily watermarked one first. Finished one, after payment. Always! ~Ranfun [PFM] [OC] (#46507)

Also a thing I see: people selling elderly lionesses who can't breed :/ Especially when they're advertised in breeding terms, like..."Celestial Lioness 10 marks High Stats." It's not exactly lying or against TOS but for newer players who don't know better it's super misleading. ~Scyllarus (#26842)

*lionesses cannot breed after 14 years of age

ALWAYS read through an offer on a trade, someone may of offered you 8SB rather than the 9GB buyout asking price. You may accidentally click thinking it's GB but make sure to read through thoroughly because this has happened multiple times, luckily I haven't been a victim but I know it was a big problem back in the early days of lioden. ~sanguai (#61810)

Sometimes people will go around and ask newbies if they could send their lionesses to them so that the experienced player (not the newbie) to "train the lioness". But then they'll end up keeping the lioness for themselves. ~~Simba the Fluffy Lion~ (#27778)

I've seen people falsely advertise items, lions/lionesses, etc as something they aren't.
For example, I've seen people advertise lions as "savage maned" when they were in demand for what looked like a great deal. But closer inspection of the lions in question I saw that they had a different mane. But someone could easily be so excited about the "great deal" they are getting buy the trade out and not realize they got scammed till to late. Please check things out if a deal seems to good to be true!

I seen people offer monkey business/oasis/event backgrounds as "RARE SPECIAL RAFFLE ONLY BACKGROUND". And they are selling they turn to be selling none raffle backgrounds for huge overpriced prices. Someone could be scammed by this thinking they are getting a very rare background. Only to find out it was not the case and the background they got scammed into buying could have been bought for a much cheaper price tag.

Remember raffle exclusive backgrounds will have [Raffle] - in front of the name just like dynamic backgrounds will have [D] in front of the name. If it does not have [Raffle] - in front of it. It is not a special raffled background.

Please note there is only been 4 different raffle backgrounds released and used in weekly raffles cycles thus far.
They are "[Raffle] - Coast, [Raffle] - Hottentots Mountains, [Raffle] - Lush Oasis, and [Raffle] - Night Vegetation. ~Ivy (#2473)

Pay close attention to branch prices. Sometimes you'll get something like a simple skull or feather with a price that reads "5 SB, 1 GB" which is incredibly sketchy to me. So pay attention to that when looking for things in branches. ~Lammergeier (#8680) {helper} *I advise new players to stay out of branches because they are usually overprices ex: 1 feather for 2gb

If you are not sure about the pricing, ask {sales} chat! (but follow chat rules)

Please, don't send items/lionesses to players just because they said ''will pay soon'' or ''i dont have the money, but i'll pay you soon'' Please, use the trading system to avoid any scammers. It's best to report them to the modbox with the screenshot of the pm.

You can prevent someone's lion being stolen that way :)

Think i missed something? Post here and i'll add it to the (growing D:) list

Another scam I see is when people offer art commissions but refuse to show examples or snow examples made by other people. Then when you pay, you either get no art at all or art of a completely different style. Before ordering art, if there are no examples, either ask for examples or don't order the art, or if examples are there, make sure those examples really do belong to the person offering them.

Yeeesh, this is a shame :/ I always keep an eye out on chat and on the boards for things like this. When I was newer, I won a Black Stallion at the slots. A pretty well established player asked me if I wanted to sell it in exchange for a cub of theirs (that they described as one of their 'better' cubs at the time, they had a high stat stud with good marks). I didn't agree because the cub was NCL quality and had horrible stats (and I took the time to look up how much Stallions were worth), but told them that I'd set up a trade on the TC for some amount of GB (can't remember at the moment, but was what Black Stallions were going for at the time). Never heard back from them.

If I think of any more, I'll post them here.

Always double check your own branch's prices! I accidentally sold a rare marking applicator for 8 SB when I meant to sell it for 8 GB. Better safe than sorry.

When selling GB worth items such as GMO or Lion Meat please pay attention to offers!! Make sure it says GB not SB! If they offer the same about of "GB" than its most likely SB, please be careful and read over EVERY offer that you are given!

Sometimes people sell lionesses and name her "VLF infernal base MOTTLED" or something and then really it's an NCL or something. And then someone offers maybe 10GB or something and they accept and then "Congrats! You got a NCL for the cheap price of 10GB!" So ALWAYS check the lion before you offer/autobuy

Also, someone once offered a lioness called "2 Gold Beetles" on one of my trades which I find super sketchy

Heya,
i am new here on lioden and i guess i have something to add :/
I had my branch open for the very first day and didnt had much clue about prices and stuff. I got a few messages telling me to lower the prices, because they wanted to buy things asap.
I am always up to find a price, that makes both sides happy, but telling me i should set my price from 1000 to 10 were simply too obvious. ^^
I ignored every message i got and waited a few days... and *tadaaa* everything was sold for >my< prices. I didnt had to lower anything.

The moral of the story?
Have the patience to double check prices/worthes and ask different people for their opinion and you will lower the risk of getting scammed or lose sb/gb. Take your time to find fair prices, you arent in a hurry to make money.

(English isnt my native language and i hope i made it clear enough :3 Sometimes its harder to find the correct words, but i had to tell this somebody)
Thank you for reading this and take care of you! =)

I fell for one these today haha. I didn't check the age close enough and spent 2GB on a 16 year old lioness as the title made it look like a great deal.

My fault, oh well.

One time in a raffle that I wanted to enter the person holding the raffle had added what he called a 'Six Marking Diabolical maned Heir-Worthy lion'. Seeing how cool that sounded, as a newb, I went to enter it. When I got into it, I saw the lion's name: 6MARKDIABOLICAL/HEIR/WORTHGB and then the lion's number. I was like Oh! Cool! I get to get a new Heir! WRONG. I looked down at the raffle ticket price: 1GB or 1000SB. Great. Definitely couldn't afford that. Then, I saw they had Items you could offer them. Adoring Lioness Maroon, The Rival Dim, The Rival Lace, Adoring Adolescent Female, and Leaf Bunting. Woooonnndddeerrrrful. Greeeaaaat. So, I didn't trade, but after I left the trade, the next day I go on and click on the raffle, curious. About 15 tickets bought. Hmm.Might be worth it... I click on the lions name, trying to enlarge it, and it appears as a NCL lioness. With that basic lemon color. MM, I think I know who's getting scammed tonight, folks.

TL;DR - Check what's in a trade before accepting. Names aren't always what they seem.

Those goodie bags drive me crazy. I sold one with herbs in it, and someone messaged me saying I scammed them. I had to explain how I priced it and they understood better. But I'm sure there are probably people out there who genuinely heavily overprice those goodie bags. I refuse to buy them at all.
