James smiled, in a quite sarcastic way. "You're right about the rumors, I'll give you that much." He said. "Well, you don't always get to pick how your life works. I certainly don't." He added, and smiled, still, a hint of bitterness along with the sarcasm. "Oh, and for the protection thing? I hardly deal with the guards, most of the time, but I do travel with them. I can fight for myself, trust me. I just keep them around, in case a situation is too tough for me to fight on my own, mostly." James told her.

"One rarely chooses where their life leads them," Radia said quietly, a small tone of bitterness under a layer of understanding. "You're not one of the few who can lead those life's apparently." She watched him for a moment longer before returning her gaze to the window. There wasn't anything particularly interesting out there, but it was a nice little distraction. "A situation too tough? For you?" She asked, lacing amusement into her tone. She looked back at him, a slight gleam in her eyes. "Must be a really bad situation then." She wondered if she would have been able to escape if it had just been him following her instead of his knight, guards, and himself. She felt that the odds would be on her favor.

James shrugged, almost dismissively. "I'm a prince. I'm only supposed to do what I'm told, I can't make too many decisions for myself, it's just, not allowed, really. I would if I could." He said, sighing just a bit, glancing at the ceiling for a moment, rather boredly. "For a situation too tough for me, I mean a riot breaking out, or something. Plenty of people hate the royals, right?" James grinned just a bit. "Who knows what could happen? Though, I could handle a good bit of it myself."

"Hmm... Maybe I should send a little riot your way. Seven people too many?" Radia gave her lop-sided smile, filled with amusement. She crossed her arms atop her upper abdomen. Radia wouldn't admit this out loud, but just talking to him she'd become a bit fascinated. He made out life as a royal to be not-so-full-of-wonder-and-glory. Most people would give anything to be a royal. If only they knew how easy it was to get in... "Or should I stick go five? I feel like that's a nice number, but there's nothing wrong with a challenge. Or is seven not even a challenge for you?"

James grinned slightly, and rolled his eyes a bit. "How about, seven adults, and then about three or four children, maybe?" He responded, grinning, still. Really, he still wasn't sure why he was talking to her, she was supposed to be a captive, or prisoner, maybe. Not much of a friend, or anything. Though, if she did get to live, and was married off to one of his relatives, he figured he might as well be on good terms with her, or at least just have her not hate him.

Children?" Radia asked, mouth slightly agape, but still that small smile present. "They'd have to be pretty bad to deserve your wrath." So, he is either skilled, or arrogant. Radia decided to go more with the latter. Though she didn't doubt he was skilled, she was sure he was over doing it just a bit. Raz looked him up and down once more. He didn't really seen like much on the outside. He was thickly corded with muscle, rather skinny actually. He had height going for him, though. Radia remembered his magic: ice. He probably didn't need to be muscled with a power like that.

"Might as well add some children, make it more like a real riot, just all different kinds of people." James said, grinning, still. "Make it a real challenge, y'know?" He added, watching her for a moment, perhaps studying her, how she looked, and so on. "Would you like clean clothes, or food, or something? I can have someone bring you something." He eventually offered, figuring it was probably the right thing to do, if he wanted to her to not hate him, maybe.

"I won't allow children into the riot. They must be fifteen and up, old enough to make choices for themselves." Radia was caught off guard by his offer. She subconsciously looked around the room. She wondered if she accepted any of that, if they would be like the room. The clothes plain, the food without flavor. Maybe the water was poisoned. Radia had a sudden desire to find out all the magic of the royals. Could one of them poison her as easily as touching her? She cast those thoughts aside. It wouldn't do her any good. "Food... would be nice."

James nodded at her words. "Ah, that makes sense. Still, a bunch of children running around with pitchforks and torches would be kind of funny." He said, with a small, almost sarcastic smile, and nodded again, and her next response. He stepped out into the hall, stopping the first servant that came by, telling them to bring some food, which the servant nodded at, and left to get something. They came back minutes later, with a plate, that had a good chunk of baguette-looking bread on it, some strips of smoked beef, and an apple, which James handed to Raz, and shooed the servant off.

"Funny? Perhaps. They would probably aim the pitch forks at each other before uniting against you." She let out a small laugh. She watched as James stepped out and spoke to the servant, so naturally. Of course, he had grown up that way. Radia looked into the room, slightly uncomfortable. When the food came, it was all she could do not to rip into the food. She took the plate. "Thank you." She mumbled. She took the Apple from the plate and took a bit. Which reminded her of her two apples in her bag. She'd need to save them. Just in case.

"Oh, good point. They'd have a little civil war before going against me. Makes sense." James replied, with a chuckle, shaking his head slightly. He briefly watched her as she took the food, before nodding simply, when she thanked him. "How often do you actually get a full meal?" He asked, out of curiosity, mostly. He never really knew anything other than full meals, so he was curious about anything else, than what he'd experienced.

Radia could just picture a kid-riot and their civil war. She would hope they weren't carrying pitch forks, though. She didn't answer his question at first, taking a few moments. How often? Never. Had she ever? Yes. She remembered when she lived with her father. "Its been a while." She finally mumbled out, not meeting his gaze. She took another bite of her apple. She didn't want his pity. If he'd cared at all, he would have made sure the commoners got meals. But no, the royals stay in their fancy houses, thinking about themselves. She didn't doubt that they thought about the commoners once in a while, but she didn't think it would be of the commoners health or well being.

James watched her, as she seemed to consider his question. He knew the answer, before she said it, though, that it was no, or she hadn't had one in forever. He nodded when she answered, since he'd assumed that, of course. "I see." He replied simply, and briefly dropped his gaze to the floor. He sometimes wished that more could be done with the commoners and their food, but there was only so much food, to go around, though. Sure, the royals could spare some, but it wasn't like most of them would, though. James wasn't too sure if he would or not, himself.

"Well," Radia exhaled, trying to clear the silence. "I should probably let you get to your princely duties." She pushed herself lightly off the door frame and walked across the room. She set the tray down on the little table. She stayed there for a moment before turning around to face him, but she kept her eyes downcast. What would she do in this room? She didn't think the guards would be much company, and there certainly isn't a lot to do in the room itself. "Is it possible... Could I get a book? So that I am not entirely without something to do in here."

James was about to walk out, but he stopped when spoke again, to look back at her. He considered that, knowing that he technically wasn't technically supposed to give her such forms of entertainment, but he felt he might as well, and nodded in her direction. "I suppose so.. Do you want to go pick one out for yourself, or what?" He asked.
