Friday Coding Update!

Today is a special day! We have some event updates along with new fun things!

jun8sneks.jpg

New Chthonic Enemies
Slithering Doom, Slithering Havoc, Slithering Annihilation, Slithering Terror, Slithering Demise and Slithering Horror have been added today to make your event experience even richer as you wait for the shop opening on the 12th and chapter 3's release on the 20th. They should also drop Chaos Scales and Khepri Beetles like all other enemies, and can be crafted into decors in the Monkey Business crafting page.

Event Fixes:
* Bast will now specify the feline enemies you have to defeat are non-lion.
* Anubis will not hit you anymore if his ability triggers when you Rest during battle.
* Fixed a sentence in Anubis story about his beautiful eyes that seemed to be cut short.

New Mutations!
WAIT WHAT! Admins said there would be no new mutations until files are updated!!!11
Yes, but! These are scripted mutations, meaning they required little to no art, but a lot of coding due to their new mechanics! You guys suggested a lot of mutations like this, so we hope they'll make you happy!

Toothless will have a small lineart change. It appears at birth, but will produce a health message at 3 months.
Effect: It cannot hunt, patrol, or lead the pride. It can be chosen as a broodmother. Toothless can grow up strong and live a full life, can be sex changed as a cub/adolescent, and aged up. We believe your pride shares meat chunks with the poor toothless lions, so they can be fed normally.
- Mutation can be passed with a Lion Scrotum.

Clawless will have a small overlay on their paws to cover the claws drawn on the default lineart. The health message appears at birth.
Effect: It cannot hunt. Its strength stats will be drastically hindered to be 5% of what it should be at birth. Clawless lions can still patrol and lead the pride, because they can still make a nice pounding with their mighty paws (should be funny with "Claw" option in battling - touch them with your paw pads!). Clawless can grow up strong and live a full life, can be sex changed as a cub/adolescent, and aged up.
- Mutation can be passed with a Lion Scrotum.

Deaf will have no art change. The health message appears at birth.
Effect: It cannot hunt, patrol, or lead the pride. The lion can die randomly between 4 months to 4 years, via an accident. It won't live longer than that maximum age of 4 years. If the lioness is nursing cubs, the death triggers won't occur until they're 5 months old. Deaf can produce random health messages of them getting into trouble, as well as death messages. Be careful when taking care of a deaf pride member, and keep in mind how fragile they are in the wild. Deaf can be sex changed as a cub/adolescent, and aged up. It cannot be protected from dying in an accident.
- Mutation can be passed with a Lion Scrotum.
- If the lioness is pregnant and dies, the litter will be lost with her. Be prepared; this is a risk you take when breeding a deaf lion.

As this is a new mechanic, and you feel like Blind and other mutations that have been added years ago should be lethal too, you can suggest your ideas in the dev forums!

Double Uterus will have no art change. This is a female-only adult mutation, and there is no health message. This means they can be aged up. If they are sex changed into a male, they will lose the mutation. Every time she is in heat, when you breed her, you will see a notification that she can be bred again after the first breeding while already pregnant.
Effect: The amount of cubs will be doubled. You may choose to breed your lioness to two studs during the same pregnancy. The second stud's genetic information will be overwritten onto half of the cubs. The birth will happen with the 3 day gestation period of the first breeding, even if the second breeding took place on the last day of pregnancy. This pregnancy can be insta-delivered.
- Female breeding items will work on the first breeding. The second breeding, even if it's the same pregnancy, counts as a second breeding - meaning, if you want item effects, you'll need to use items again after the first breeding takes place.
- The cub amount is doubled, meaning if the script picked 1 cub, you'd get 2 cubs. If it was 4, you'd get 8 cubs, etc.
- If the stud ate a Buffalo Scrotum, the guaranteed minimum cub amount would be 3. The outcome with Double Uterus would be 6 (and of course, if it was 4, it would double into 8 respectively).
- If bred to only one male, all cubs in the litter would be his. If bred to two, half of the cubs would have the first stud as a father, and the other have would have the second stud as the father.
- Mutation can be passed with a Lion Scrotum.
- Extra images of newborn cubs have been added for nursing females to accommodate for possible 8 cub litters.
- The lioness will have normal cooldowns, including the miscarriage waiting period.

All mutations are very rare - some are comparable to the rarity of a lethal cub. They can be bred naturally, but using the CRB method gives the highest chance.

If you guys have any more questions, we'll try to edit the clarifications into this area by tomorrow, and include all detail in the Wiki as soon as possible.

EDIT:
* Clarification: items that affect the number of cubs born in a litter only need to be used once, on the first breeding. Using them on the second breeding will have no effect. Double Uterus doubles the number of cubs the lioness would normally have on the first breeding. On the second breeding half of the cubs are selected to be modified, emulating two different litters.
* They all can appear via normal random chance, GMO/Lion Meat, we just think CRB gives you best chance in this situation.
* Double Uterus will show as AMP in scrying.

SEPARATION

Announcement regarding 1 cub litter complaints brought up recently by players:
We listen to your concerns. We ran some tests. To make sure there's nothing wrong with the original coding, we analysed almost 170,000 litters from the past month and found that 1 cub is about 50% likely, 2 cubs are at 37%, 3 cubs are 10%, and 4 cubs are 3%, more or less with 0.1 fluctuations. It's been the same for years. This is completely down to chance, and even these numbers don't line up 100% to code, as it's all random chance. Random means it is possible you get 3 cub litters four times in a row, if you're lucky.
We have even spotted 2016 and 2017 threads with players analysing their own breedings, and their percentages being the same as our current database litter log statistics. We have not touched this coding for years. If we did any big changes, they would be posted as Friday update information, because it affects our base mechanics.

@Xylax
We can't tell if you've seen the questions tho, and they are very easily buried in the speed of newposts. You've also never clarified that you answer questions in the main post, on any thread I've seen.

I like most of the updates, and I especially like the new uterus mutation.

However, I am not a big fan of the deaf lion's chance of death. If toothless is justified by believing that "your pride shares meat chunks with the poor toothless lions, so they can be fed normally", then why can't deaf lions also be aided by their pride?
Not to mention that we also have both eyeless and blindness as mutations - which would be far more lethal and disastrous for a lion than deafness. At least deaf lions can feel vibrations if a stampede is going straight for them and, being able to see, can run away from danger. A sightless lion may well hear danger, but it can't truly tell where the anger is coming from and it can't run away from it as it may run into more danger or straight into a rock or off a cliff ect ect. If these blind lions are justified with having a pride to look after them so they don't encounter such danger, then I can't see why deaf lions do not also have this luxury.

Furthermore, as this mutation has no benefits for the User - not even a line art change - the only point of this lion is to die early. I do not see the need this to exist. With all previous fatal mutations, they have got a significant line art change to make them achievements. Yes they will die, but they are so different from our normal lions that there is an overall prestige and value to them. Deafness is just the normal lioness line art, so it lacks the most important factor of previous mutations. And it furthermore makes a lion even worse than a regular lion - due to the risk of early death.
When a mutation has no intrinsic value to it to the point of just devaluing whatever has this said mutation, I do not believe it should be in the game.

lol I'm so bummed breeding is working as it should, so tired of one cub litters

Edit; also I agree with the user above mes post, deaf is weird. Being eyeless, blind or toothless is a far greater detriment to a wild animal than being deaf. It can see and smell danger plus has the pride. There's no point to it other than having to buy fruit to cure it really
