Stonekit perked up her ears as the scent of Maplepaw hit his nose. As she came limping into the clearing, Stonekit jumped up over Mintwhisper again, running over to Maplepaw. "Mama!" He purred and rubbed himself against Maplepaw's fur her familiar scent calming him down considerably. "I was looking for an apprentice in the woods, but a dead cat chased me, I ran away, but I got lost, until Mintwhisper found me. She said I was in Terra clan and I was like 'Whats Terraclan?' And we were talking. I was so tired from running I fell asleep, and Mintwhisper protected me! I'm so glad you found me!", Stonekit meowed about as fast as a kit could talk, some of his words bumbling together. Stonekit was so happy to see MamaMaple, he had been worried that a dead cat had got her and he'd be all alone.

"Yes," Stonefell said, relaxing a bit knowing that Terraclan wasn't alone in this odd occurrence. "One of them warned me that something terrible was going to happen to the clans-"

Her voice caught in her throat despite herself. With an anxious twitch of her nose, Stonefell swallowed and continued. "But you and the kit should head back to your own territory. At a time of crisis like this, I don't think loitering around will do either of our clans any good. If you remain within Terraclan's border, I can't guarantee you'll meet cats as kindhearted as us—" Stonefell flashed Ratpelt a glare, noting his kit-hating tendencies "—or at least as nice as Mintwhisper and I."

Ratpelt's whiskers twitch at the look Stonefell gave him. He's not going to lie to himself, he doesn't enjoy the presence of the two Aether cats. Ratpelt round ears twitch as they pull back. The curly warrior registers what the young kit had said. "Wait mamma? You dont look old enough to be a mom?" he asks, furbrows pulled together in confusion. "Or what happened to his real mom?" he asks without a single thought that maybe the kit could be traumatized by their dead mother.

The massive silver tabby snarled, her lips drawing back from her teeth, revealing dagger-like incisors as she towered over the tom. Guess who's back, back again, Fernstar's back, tell a friend. She glared down at the brown tom, her deep emerald eyes narrowing. Her claws dug into the tom-cats shoulders, drawing blood. She could slit his throat, do what he had done to her. But she wasn't sure if the tom had nine lives like she did, and even if she did, she would have the blood of another cat on her paws. She didn't think that she had ever killed another cat before, and she didn't want the leader of a rival Clan to be her first.

"I could kill you right now." She meowed, her tone low and dangerous. "I could slit your throat, and repay. An eye for an eye." She leered at him, her dark malachite eyes narrowing again as she considered her actions. She wanted to rip his throat out, repay the deed in kind, but she had to hold herself back. If not for her Clan, for herself. To kill, to take another life was a terrible, awful deed, and she wasn't sure she could survive what was sure to be bone-crushing guilt. She sighed softly, and composed herself, before stepping backwards, and allowing the tom to get up. "But I'll let you live. I don't want your blood on my paws; I don't want your life on my conscience."

Maplepaw - 8 moons - Apprentice - Injured shoulder - TerraClan territory - Mentions: Stonekit, Stonefell, Ratpelt, Mintwhisper


A purr finds its way from Maplepaw's throat. Her green eyes sparkle at Stonekit's excitement and she curls around the tom, licking the fur on his cheeks and forehead, making sure he is really alright. Knowing he is unharmed, she pulls back and gives him a stern look. "I'm really happy you're safe, but I am really disappointed you left camp. You have caused trouble for not only me but Rubynose too!"

She stops lecturing Stonekit to pay attention to Stonefell. She gives a small nod and belatedly remembers that they are inside Terraclan's territory. "O-of course. Thank you very much uh, Mintwhisper? And um... " Maplepaw trails off, not knowing their names. She awkwardly shuffles her paws. "Anyway, come one Stonekit. We should start heading home," she meows, glancing at the older tom that does not look happy to see them.

Pausing in her leave, the apprentice whips around to the warrior, fury blazing in her eyes. Fox-brained fool! She does not want to talk about this with Stonekit here and especially not with the mean-looking tom. "I don't see how that's any of your business," she snaps out, gaze flicking to see if Stonekit heard. Maplepaw will do anything to keep Stonekit from feeling the pain of losing his mother, knowing that pain herself twice over.

Mintwhisper looked at the newcomer with interest, the Aetherclan apprentice wouldn’t come into Terraclan territory without a good reason. Hearing what Maplepaw said confirmed Mint’s thought process. She rose to her paws and reluctantly nudged Stonekit towards the Aetherclan apprentice, she’d miss the small kit. “I’m sorry for making you come all this way, Maplepaw? Was it? Stonekit mentioned your name. I was planning on taking him to the border to return him to you.” She smiled at the flame colored cat before continuing, “He fine, just a bit tired and spooked I think.”

She glanced at her comrades before looking back at Maplepaw, now that the kit had been returned they should probably head their separate ways. She smiled at their reunion, chuckling at how excited Stonekit sounded. Unfortunately Ratpelt had to ruin it by saying something stupid. “Ratpelt be quiet.” She hissed, tail twitching in annoyance. She turned back to Maplepaw and Stonekit, “I hope you don’t mind being guided back to the border, safety precautions and all.” She hoped she didn’t sound sarcastically threatening, she actually just wanted to see Stonekit off. Yup. She was attached. Fox dung. “Ratpelt, unless you have anything else to add I suggest you go help our clanmates back at camp.” Her tone was authoritative and she could only hope her seniority held some respect.

Terrastar felt his heart throb heavily in his chest. He silently looked up at the Aetherclan leader, anticipating what she was going to do next. He screeched with pain as he felt a piercing pain in his shoulders, followed by something warm trickling from the area. His tail curled and puffed out as he listened to her threats. While his tail showed his emotions, his face remained an almost challenging glare. Though it soon changed to surprise as the she-cat stepped back. He quickly got to his paws and tried to force his fur to lay flat. He opened his mouth, almost to retort, but closed it quickly and fled the area.

He ran as fast as he could, pausing only when he could not see Fernstar anymore. He panted softly and quickly picked up the scent of some of his warriors. He decided to follow it and quickly came across Mintwhisper, Ratpelt and Stonefell. He opened his jaws to speak, inhaling first and scenting the Aetherclan scent there. He spotted the two cats covered in the scent rather quickly. "F-Fernstar attacked me!" He exclaimed. The blood dripping from his shoulder wounds were his evidence, and the wild look in his eyes probably confirmed it. "I barely escaped, a-and I found Stormstep's murderer." He had clearly not heard any of their earlier conversation.

Maplepaw calms a little as the red she speaks to her. She nods and starts nudging Stonekit towards the border, not leaving his side. She probably won't leave his side for a while. She freezes when loud crashes come towards them. Ambush! She curls around Stonekit's body protectively. The large tom that appears is frazzled and looks manic. That doesn't help ease the apprentice's mind.

Her ears must not be hearing right. Fernstar? Attacking him? That's ridiculous! But this tom is bleeding and she can smell faint traces of her leader's scent on him. And murder? Never! Fernstar isn't that type of cat! But Maplepaw doesn't say any of this she says out loud. She's scared now. She and Stonekit are still in enemy territory and now with such an announcement made about Fernstar, will the two be able to get back home unscathed? Her muscles tense, ready to defend herself and Stonekit with everything she's got, her wound be darned.

Mintwhisper’s friendly demeanor quickly sombered up when she heard her leader’s voice. Turning around she was met with Terrastar’s bloody appearance, her eyes widened in surprise. She nodded seriously before declaring, “I’ll escort these two out of the territory right away. They’re only here to collect a lost kit.” She cleared up the situation quickly and strode over the Maplepaw’s side. She posture was Straight, her head held high. The red warrior hoped to get the Aetherclan cats out of Terraclan territory as soon as possible, it’s be best before tensions rise. She briefly leaned down to talk to Maplepaw, “Don’t worry, I will not hurt you. I only want to get you out of the territory as quickly as possible.” She straightened up and looked between her clanmates questionly.

Fernstar watched as Terrastar sprinted away, and she let her body sag. She was exhausted. The fight, the fight that she didn't want, had worn her out, both mentally and physically. She could see that she had to deal with Terrastar, and either drive him out of his Clan, or change him to be better. She sighed once more, then turned around and made her way to camp.

Stonefell's eyes widened to the size of a full moon. She was right—Jaggedfang was right, Terrastar was in danger! And here she was, communing with trespassers instead of running to his aide..

"Leader," she meowed stiffly, rushing to his side to help him stand, "I apologize for not coming quicker- There are undead cats roaming around the camp and one warned me that something bad would happen. He told me that Fernstar would attack you.."

Flicking her ears back, Stonefell turned to Mintwhisper and said, "Lead the kits to our border, but keep on guard. Ratpelt and I will help Terrastar back to camp and to Oakpaw."

As she spoke, the grey shecat's mind reeled with hundreds of anxious thoughts. Her leader was so close to dying—if Fernstar had killed him, what would become of the clan? Many warriors, herself included, owed Terrastar their lives. She swallowed past the icy lump in her throat. She should have been quicker.

"Oof," Ratpelt meows under his breath. His head aches from the tension of his body and he feels tired even though the curly short legged warrior has done nothing really but glared at kits. "How aren't you dead yet?" he grimaces, lip pulled up as he sniffs the injured panting leader. The light grey tomcat pulls his dark head back from the scent and nearly gags. The scent of blood makes his stomach queasy. "I can walk ahead and make sure my pelt is cl- make sure there are no cats up ahead that may attack at any moment."

Ratpelt felt a wave of concern flush over his pelt. Then disgust. Then concern. 'If Terrastar dies then Birchheart will become the leader. I got no time for that she cat,' he thinks quickly observing the tomcat's wounds.

Still on edge, Maplepaw can barely move her head to nod to Mintwhisper to show she heard the she. Her ears perk a little when she hears the stubtailed she warrior call the injured tom Leader. Is this the new clan's leader? Why would someone with such a high position lie?

Maplepaw tries to avoid looking at anyone as Mintwhisper escorts her and Stonekit to the border. She stays protectively over Stonekit the entire time, afraid of an attack despite the red warrior's assurance that she wouldn't. Once the border is in sight, Maplepaw sighs. Once in Aetherclan territory, she finally brings her eyes up to see Mintwhisper. "Thank you for keeping your word," she meows, her tail wrapped around the grey bundle of fur. She glances around and struggles with her next words. "This isn't my place to say, but Fernstar is no murderer. I know you probably won't believe me, but there is no way Fernstar would attack your leader without a cause. Anyway, thanks again."

Mintwhisper relaxed slightly as they neared the border. She smiled at Maplepaw and Stonekit before responding, “I try to keep my word whenever possible.” She meowed, she couldn’t exactly rely on Maplepaw’s word about her leader though. Terrastar has proof of being attacked and he had gone to see Fernstar, however, Mintwhisper had no idea what Fernstar’s personality was like. “I can’t say I believe you Maplepaw, I don’t know your leader nor do you know mine.” She paused, “I’m glad I could help you and Stonekit. I adore kits.”

She leaned down to address Stonekit, “It was nice to meet you Stonekit. I know you’ll grow up to be a great warrior, try to stay on your side of the border though.” She spoke good naturedly to the kit. Backing up she nodded, waiting a few fox-lengths away to watch them head back into their territory. The white speckled warrior felt a bit bad knowing that she was being chummy with some of the Aetherclan cats, but she did always prefer to be on good terms with the cats she meets. Did that make her un-loyal to her clan? Especially after this most recent encounter? She sighed, mint green eyes casting downwards.

Maplepaw isn't offended when Mintwhisper doesn't believe her. It's true she doesn't know Terraclan's leader. Maybe to him it seemed like an attack out of nowhere, but to Fernstar it seemed justified? The apprentice won't know until she speaks to Fernstar though. She smiles when the red Terraclan warrior speaks to Stonekit. Look at him, making friends. It fills her with pride. "She's right, Stonekit. We should stay in Aetherclan territory from now on."

Her good mood sours when the big tom from earlier shows up again. Did he need something from them? Her ears pull back with the scolding he brings. Admittedly, trespassing was foolish on her part, but she doesn't regret it as it reunited her and Stonekit. The apprentice remains silent and takes the lecturing. The safest option is to wait until he's done speaking and head home. Hopefully that will be all there is to it.

Things are never easy. To say Maplepaw is surprised at being invited to join Terraclan is an extreme understatement. They were just yelled at for trespassing right? Why would Terrastar invite them in? The tabby is confused and unnerved. What will happen to her if she says no? Will Terrastar accept a no? Her white-tipped tail wraps around Stonekit, not only as a protective gesture, but also as a way to ground herself. Is all of this real or is she actually in her den snuggled next to Stonekit, dreaming it all? Maplepaw is scared. Her body shakes, wishing that things were how they used to be and that she knew what to do.
