Look, you know how this whole heritage "fix" made a whole bunch of clean breeders angry?

Admins, can you at least EXPLAIN to us how this bug WORKED so we can try to salvage our previously-clean lions?

It added on non-clean heritage to a LOT of our lions. Most of my pride is now inbred or related to the big four, and my brand new queen, who was completely clean, is also now inbred and related to the big four. Not fun :/

When a clean breeder buys a lion, kings a lion or studs to a lion with the intention of creating more clean lions ( breeding for clean lions i.e "clean spreading"), normally you check the lineage. Depending on what kind of clean breeder you are, you look for things like inbreeding, big 4, shit like that. If you see that, you move onto the next lion. If not, you may buy or stud or king.

It costs 35gb minimum or 50gb maximum to replace a lion, either for his stats or mutations. Clean breeders mutie and stud replace not just to have those things, but to create more clean muties which are VERY rare since muties and anything introduced really, quickly get bound up with the big 4 lines. So we check, we spread what we can, we spend TIME and MONEY keeping lions clean.

And this update just invalidated all of that. We were made to believe we were buying clean lions (and people were made to believe they were kinging/selling/studding) clean lions. But lo and behold, a lot of them were dirty from the start however we had no way of knowing that so how is it possibly our fault? How does one iota of the blame possibly fall on us?

Essentially, lions that were dead, or in some cases we just don't know didn't show up in the heritage or the lion's page (like, individually going from lion page to page). You'd hit a wall of "Unknown" with no hyperlink, no id, nothing. If you hit that wall before any of the Big 4 showed up, you were clean (not touching on inbreeding, though I personally needed there to be none of that, either).

When staff fixed the bug, lions we had no way of accessing appeared in the heritage. In some cases, this put heritageless lions with 3+ pages, in others, it turned out ONE lion was missing on that first page, and then bam, you had big 4.

As stated, we've spent time, and in game and real world currency on keeping the big 4 out of our dens. We had no way to see these lions. I don't think they intentionally screwed us over, but many people have kinged lions for 25GB they thought were clean, and turned out they were not at all. Now they're out 25GB. Not to mention females for breeding projects.
My clean citrine breeding project was slashed in half by this, as two of my four fulvous and 3 of my 4 topaz girls were big 4 and inbred when I couldn't previously have seen they were.

Oh, oof... And the suggestion is asking LD to explain why/how those lions got put in the slots, even on lions that didn't have an "X instances of possible inbreeding" label?

@Asher - There was a bug that made lions show up in the heritage as "unknown". Turns out that was largely due to a bug, so they fixed it and those lions appear like they should now.

What I'm not seeing is a purposed solution. Now that the bug is fixed, what do you want to see them do now? I haven't seen any of that here.

I just thought I had bought a heritageless lion, but now I see at least one of his parents are known (not even shown in the Full Heritage, but next to it) and Im disappointed in thinking I had a clean heir

I don't think this was entirely 'fixed'. I have several event cubs with mothers, most of whom are still in my den, that say mother is 'unknown' on their heritage page (here and here , for example). Others still show a blank dam or sire on the lion page. But still others suddenly have long lineages with plenty of inbreeding and big 4, so I guess something worked.

I like the concept, better to get it done and over. Wouldn't mind a more in-depth explanation though.

Actually, he has heritage. Click the mother's link and her heritage to look. You always check parwnt links, the lion's heritage, parents' heritage. And there is always the option of chasig if you're that pissed about it. Force a heritage wipe and put out an offer for her return. Groupie rep in may or august with event studs and ncls.

There aren't any pie groupies, why would he chase the piebald? When you king him, the lineage stays unknown. My ruffian has the same issue.

Its an added challenge (aka made up). Cant blame the game for not... challenging yourself correctly.
(btw it was explained in the news post, idk what other explanation do you expect)

Then get a mod for pie. It's not the end of the world. It's a player-made challenge that people shouldn't be getting huffy over. Oh no, my king isn't clean anymore due to a glitch fix that had him seeming clean. Oh well. Crown a groupie. Or chase the lionesses to wipe their heritage. Don't blow shit out of proportion. They fixed an issue that was creating false clean linegages. You should be grateful.

I honestly thought this was a well known bug.

I was always thorough when checking heritages, pulling up every lion in the heritage to see if there was any additional heritage. I feel like a lot less people would be impacted had they been thorough with their searches.

It's not on the admins for fixing a bug, it was bound to be fixed eventually.

Those lions in the pedigrees? They always had heritage, you just never clicked on them and looked.

Don't blame admins and mods for not looking. It wasn't a "fix" to anything that didn't already exist.

I'm not too mad about the fix, as my recently started projects are still in line, but you'd be mad to chase a male piebald, it wouldn't come back. I don't care too bad that my king is not clean-lined, I'm only disappointed he won't be. I'm pretty sure you were speaking about the other user's lionesses, but either way a mod pie is hella expensive for me

^^ I've looked through heritages thoroughly, but it's hard to do when everything is "Unknown"
