Plot: In this forest, winters are harsh. These past few years have been hard for the wolves in the forest. Just when they thought they were done for, Mother Nature answered their desperate calls. They were blessed with a kind winter. While the wolves regained their strength, in only delayed the inevitable. Despite the one nice winter, it wasn’t enough for the packs to continue living like this. There isn’t enough prey to go around, and packs keep trespassing into each others territories. Alphas struggle to keep their pack alive. There is talk that the next winter will be the worst to come. Will your pack survive?  Map drawn by me Weather It is early winter; the snow is thin on the ground but is here to stay, and it will snow much more. The nights are growing colder and the wolves are cold when sleeping alone. Pups need their mothers now more than ever. So Far... Kai and Atlas have had their pups and they’re growing fast. The two packs have joined forces and are living together. After talking to his brother and sister about the pups, he went to be with Banshee. Kai was incredibly excited for him, but Tamaska seemed worried. “You think they’ll make it?” Ya masks whispered to Kai. Kai frowned. “We can only hope for the best, Tamaska. Besides, you heard dad, he thinks the pups will be just fine.” “As if dad would tell Matsi his first litter would die,” Tamaska said. “Don’t be so pessimistic. Be excited for him,” Kai said sweetly. Tamaska nodded and the two parted ways. — “Hey Banshee,” Matsi greets. “So, when do you plan on telling Kato? Or is he going to find out once they’re born?” Mats I said, laughing. He was so excited to see what they’ll look like. Kai and Ahanu, the whitest wold and the blackest wolf together had dark wolves. While Nanook and Atlas always had a mix. "Hey stranger" Banshee jokingly greets her tail thumps against the snow softly. "Hmm well we'd have to find him to tell him anything and I don't know where he is" Banshee says. Sol looks up at the two with a happy smile. "Matsi congrats on your future pups" Sol says. "next time try to have them at a different time of year" Sol suggests. "I hope he will be fine with it" Banshee says. ___ Kato sat by the rivers edge and watched the fast flowing water pass by. Some areas of the river had began to freeze and he knew it would soon be completely frozen. Kato had been sick for a long time but he'd never mentioned it to anyone, as long as it wasn't noticeable he'd keep that fact hidden, he still hunted and would always be close to the front of the hunting group so he doubted anyone would notice until he began to slow down, he knew he'd have to admit it when that time came but for now it was his little secret. 0 players like this post! As they walked, they every ally arrived at Kato. Matsi hesitated at first but decided to take the lead. If Kato didn’t react well he rather it’d be towards him than his pregnant mate. “Hey Kato,” Matsi said. “We have something to tell you... you’re going to be an uncle!” Matsi said this with a smile, hoping for the best. 0 players like this post! Kato straightened up hearing his name and turned around to face Matsi and Banshee. "I'm sorry, I completely missed what you said" Kato replied. Kato tried to focus on Matsi, he would be lying if missing what Matsi had said didn't worry him after all Matsi wasn't exactly quiet. Banshee watched Matsi and Kato closely, ready to defend her mate from her brother. Banshee noticed that Kato looked exhausted and frowned when he'd asked for Matsi to repeat himself. Banshee also noticed Kato was struggling to hold his current posture. "Kato" Banshee said softly. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Matsi took a deep breath. He was trying to give Kato good news, yet he felt like he was walking and eggshells, and he wasn’t even paying attention. “Kato your sister’s pregnant. We’re having pups,” Matsi said blatantly. Something seemed wrong, but then again, he didn’t ever know him well. "oh, that's great congrats on that" Kato replied. Kato's tail wagged slightly hinting that he was happy. Kato flicked his ear and looked at Matsi and Banshee. "I wonder what they will look like, it will be fun to find out" Kato says. Banshee returned the head butt but made sure it was soft. "Kato how are you feeling? You look like you are not feeling right" Banshee says and her expression softened. Banshee rarely held a soft expression but she could tell Kato was suffering. "please talk to me Kato" Banshee pleaded. "About what? I'm perfectly fine" Kato snapped. Kato growled and lay down with a huff. Matsi was surprised Kato reacted well. He turned to face Banshee, facing away from Kato. “Banshee, do you think you could give us a moment alone?” He asked his mate. Kato’s happy reaction made Matsi feel like he could talk to him, and maybe find out what was wrong. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Banshee sighed and nodded. Banshee walked away and gave them some space. Banshee hesitated for a moment but soon continued on her way. Kato looked up at Matsi. "I know my mother and Banshee are worried about me, you are probably worried too but nothing can be done for me, I know what ever is wrong with me it's not good and surviving the winter is unlikely, I'll leave before I can't be useful to the pack, I doubt I'll survive the winter on my own but I don't want any of you to get sick and if I do survive I'll return" Kato says. 0 players like this post! “So you’re sick... I’m really sorry to hear that Kato and I understand that what you’re doing is to protect the pack.” Matsi thought for a moment, then had an idea. “Kato, if you leave, please don’t go far. I’ll hide scraps from our hunts for you. It’s hard to survive by yourself, let alone sick. We’ll find a place that works for us. I’ll leave food there and you leave something so I know it’s you taking the food, so I know you’re still alive.” Matsi waited for his response. He couldn’t just let Kato go off on his own. Matsi thought for a moment, then looked around. “How about bring a cedar branch? Replace the cedar with food, and I’ll know it’s you.” Matsi remembered his grandmothers teachings, how cedar is used for healing, and prayer. It was the perfect item. “We can meet a little bit down the river, away from the pack and near the waters edge. There’s an huge jack pine that fell partially into the river last year.
