The Oakwood Herd has been around for years. The forest they roam was once a peaceful, protected place for generations of deer to flourish in. But as humans and other animals begin to occupy the surrounding area their numbers have steadily fallen. They must move away from the forest to survive. They don’t know where they’re going but they must go. Will they leave before it’s too late or will the fall until the herd is nonexistent? MidRay laid down where the sunlight was hitting him as he yawn and looks around. Star notices him as she went and playful rams him again and again “hey, MidRay let’s play.” MidRay sigh “again... why don’t you rest or play with someone else.” Star stops and looks at him as she flattened her ears and making a little sad face (know as a little puppy face Version of a deer ) “but I got nobody to play with but only you.” MidRay sigh and smiles “fine, you win” he get ups as Star face change with a big smile. Roan felt the breeze ruffle her fur. She sniffed it cautiously. More humans had shown up recently. In the distance she could hear one of the loud pops signifying their presence. She shook herself and looked around. She noticed Midray and his sister. She smiled a little. She never had anything like their relationship but it warmed her heart seeing it. Roan giggled. She hadn’t felt relaxed in a while. With all the new dangers she knew she’d have to be prepared at any moment. She’s treated many deer with every new season. She was still young but sometimes had to act older than she was. 0 players like this post! Like? |

((Mobile post, desktop posts will be much...more. Apologies for any errors!!)) Thelduin stood a distance away, his slender figure barely visible among the heavy brush. He dedicated himself to silently watching over his herd, delving deep into concerning thoughts that made him furrow his brow. He feared for the fawns, painfully imaging what their future may hold if hard decisions weren't made soon. Their threats were only growing. Thelduin himself was actively targetted due to the uniqueness of his coat. The humans seemed to think of it as a pretty trophy, and others almost appeared to see it as...unnatural. They wished to eliminate him. But the buck wasn't too concerned for himself. The elegant creature worried for the young and old, for the bucks and does. It was his desire to guarantee them a life of peace, filled with the best of grazing grounds. But the world seemed so dedicated towards taking all of that away. Thelduin wouldn't let that happen. Nyx watched the group, her curious gaze following their every move. She knew she should go and gather food for the herd, but the sun felt so nice! The doe shifted her weight from leg to leg, unsure of herself. The light colored female shook her head, deciding to just go and play. What was the worse that could happen? A fire that just so happens to burn all the food along with the herd? NAH! She grinned, bounding over to the group. "Hey! Hey! Roan, Star, MidRay!" She called, excitement evident in her voice. Her wide gait allowed the small doe to join the three quickly, Nyx knew the herd's leader would be near, but so what if she got in trouble for slacking off? Not the first time! She was positive Thelduin would understand. Probably. Anyways! "What are you all doing?" She asked, her gaze moving between the three. (That was... terrible. Thelduin & Maela For several moments, Thelduin continued to survey his herd with a hard expression. Had they forgotten the importance of their duty, had they failed to remember what threats continued to surround them while they fooled off? Openly playing and making such a ruckus would give away their location to not only hunters, but predators, and it would endanger Star's life. Indeed, they were an experienced bunch, but their slender legs and hooves could only protect them so much. A hunters...well, they simply couldn't be stopped. The buck ducked underneath the brush, stepping forward to make his mighty presence clear. With his ears semi-pinned, he parted his jaws to bark out a command and give the adults a serious scolding for endangering a young and helpless fawn, but a soft coat brushed by his side before he could even find the words. The pastel blue eyes of his beloved sister met his, and her smile was gentle. A kind reminder of their well-spent childhood. "Thelduin," the pied doe greeted him softly, touching her nose to his cheek as a sign of her sisterly affection. "Let them enjoy the peaceful moments and live in the now. Who knows how much longer we might have?" Her voice was soft, smooth as silk and kept in a low tone so that the conversation was private, between her and her brother, Thelduin.
