The Oakwood Herd has been around for years. The forest they roam was once a peaceful, protected place for generations of deer to flourish in. But as humans and other animals begin to occupy the surrounding area their numbers have steadily fallen. They must move away from the forest to survive. They don’t know where they’re going but they must go. Will they leave before it’s too late or will the fall until the herd is nonexistent?

Hyssop watched as the young fawn mercilessly provoked her older brother, observing from a distance. The buck was not interested in involving himself in play, for it would be of serious consequence if he were to lose his focus. Though his visions had become infrequent in the past few months, Hyssop could feel something brewing, like a nasty storm gathering, ready to strike. It was definite that the hunters were capable of launching an attack at any moment, and he had to be ready for it. His forlorn gaze lingered on Star, contemplating. She would not be safe if the humans decided to chase them down, making his role all the more important. He had to warn Thelduin as soon as he saw of anything dangerous, though he was worried that the vision would arrive too late.

star started to get dizzy while ramming MidRay hind leg that when she stopped she couldn't stand right and fell into the ground of how dizzy she was. MidRay checks if she was ok "are you okay??, why not you rest okay" star nodded as she leads down properly and rests. MidRay started to stay on guard as he watches his surrounding.

After awhile, Roan finally returned to the herd. In her mouth was a small bundle of moss. It dripped wet from where she fell into the river accidentally. She saw Hyssop deep in thought staring at Star. She tilted her head watching him. She never would probably truly understand what it was like for him. She sat down the moss and settled next to it.

Thelduin & Maela

With no recent word from Hyssop, the lead buck's concerns were worsening. Why had the visions suddenly stopped? Were the spirits that watched over them suddenly ignoring them and accepting whatever fate they might face? Thelduin's features hardened as he grimly thought over his sister's seemingly optimistic words, and he fell into a silence. He had no reply to give her. Why enjoy one moment, when you could enjoy many, many more through hard work and focus?

Maela stared at the white buck for several passing moments before accepting that he would not respond to her, at least not immediately. Sighing, the piebald doe carefully stepped a few paces away from him to give him his room. "Well, I'm off to gather supplies. I'll see you later, Theld." Theld, a name only she could call him, a name reserved for his most closest and precious of relationships. At the moment, that was only Maela. She continued to cautiously pick her way across the clearing until Thelduin's voice rang out strong.

"Don't forget to take an escort, Maela." There was no need to, really. He was only being particularly protective and caring towards his sister, ever since the death of her mate and young son. She wasn't a fawn- she was confident that she could take care of herself for now. Threats existed, but she didn't imagine that they were near.

Roan has fallen asleep watching the seer. Thelduin’s loud voice jerked her awake. She made a frustrated noise. That was the best sleep she’s had in awhile. She got up and shook her head.

*throws my new child into the rp*
Yona traveled through the forest with a sly smile on her graceful features, distorting her once beautiful face to appear vile and evil towards others. She traveled alone at the time being and her movements could lead once to believe she was looking for some, physical, company. She dipped her head down, her melanistic coat standing out in the lush green forest. The doe had gone far and was eager to see where her adventures had thrown her this time.

Thelduin & Maela

Maela could still feel her brother's intense gaze burning into her pied pelt, unmoving and patiently waiting for her response. The doe sighed before accepting that Thelduin wouldn't permit her to leave without another. Finally, she turned with a small shake of her narrow skull. "Fine, then...escort me, Theld." Mae locked onto her brother's multicolored eyes, and he took a step back in shock.

"Well, I-I need to stay and look after-" Thelduin cut himself off as his sibling sharply narrowed her pastel blues. They both knew that he wasn't required to stay, it wasn't his job to protect them constantly. They had separate roles for that purpose. His duty was to organize, to plan, and to execute his plan. He was their leader, not their guardian...even if he wanted to protect them all, whatever the cost. "Fine." Thelduin snapped his jaws shut before following Maela out of camp silently. He would be good help, anyways, to carry whatever she gathered. They could bring back more that way.

Sometimes, Roan would stupidly throw her caution to the wind. She stood by the river bank with her head down. She wasn’t thirsty for water but for adventure. Even in these dangerous times something itches within her. She had traveled further up the river than she typically did. From where she stood she could see the human shelters. Normally, she would have been afraid. But something today made her feel safe. She sighed a little as she looks behind her. She couldn’t see anything but she smelled something new. Not human though. It had a sense of familiarity to it. ‘Probably another deer,’ she told herself. She settled back the looking at the human structures.

Thelduin & Maela

The buck followed his sister out of camp, looking as alert as ever. When he swung his head to and fro, the doe had to duck out to avoid getting a face full of antlers, causing her to mutter a few curses under her breath. Eventually, Thelduin allowed Maela to take point after sensing her irritation, leaving him to hang a few paces back and continue to keep an eye out for any threats.

The earth was cool, and the dark green grass was littered with sweet dew. Pleased with the selection, the doe paused and turned to face her brother. "This is the perfect spot! The best grass I've seen in days."

The lovely does ears perked up as the sound and smell of two other deers hit her. It was a male and female, related by the smell of it but she couldn’t be sure. Hesitantly Yona moved deeper into the woods so she could circle in front of them. She flicked her ears and hopped over some fallen logs until she saw them stop through the parting of the trees. A flirty look came over her and the melanistic doe gracefully made her wya in front of them. Once there she gave a smile and dipped her head. “Hello, what brings you to my part of the woods.” She licked her lips eyeing them like wolf would eye it’s prey.

(Should I create another character?

((I personally enjoy roleplaying multiple characters, but it's up to you and how many you can handle/focus on))

Thelduin & Maela

Maela looked a little taken back at the abrupt and flirtatious approach of the doe, seemingly disturbed by her presence. Loners were uncommon, as most all deer belonged under Thelduin's "command". She pondered if her brother would ask the stranger to join his ranks, or, even more likely, drive her off. Maela knew which option she'd choose, but she patiently glanced at Thelduin to wait for his response.

The buck blinked at the stranger, taking in every one of her details to ensure that she appeared to be no threat to his herd. Outsiders were a very, very rare occurrence- surviving on your own was unlikely, especially without doe that wasn't equipped with antlers for much-needed protection. The surprisingly placid Thelduin thought his response over, careful in the words that he selected. "Nobody owns the woods, not even myself as herd leader. I am Thelduin, leader of the Oakwood herd, and I recommend that you choose your next actions wisely. To an extant, I mean whether you choose to continue roaming these dangerous parts or move elsewhere. This land is safe no longer."

Hyssop's attention snapped away from Star with an urgency, as if he'd been staring at the sun, molten hot and unbearable to look at. In the fawn's place stood people; blurry and dark yet distinct with human features. They marched on two legs, silent and surrounding, wielding something Hyssop could not make out, though he knew it to be man made. A deafening crack leapt through the air, and Hyssop felt his blood run cold. His legs stuck stiff, and his breathing grew sporadic. But now was not the time for hesitation. Shaking himself out of his stupor, Hyssop desperately searched the camp, but found that the herd had scattered. Panic set in. How long would it be before the humans got here? He didn't know. Hyssop broke out into a run, stumbling over his hooves as if he was barely a day old, tripping on tangled roots and underbrush. "Thelduin?" Hyssop shouted, "Thelduin!" His Leader was nowhere in sight, so the buck could only hope that his calls were heard. Hyssop ran as fast as he could, heart hammering, sweat matting his pelt. The visions grew more intense, clouding his head with images of his herd, hurt or worse. There was an unrelenting pounding in his skull, and Hyssop thought he was going to black out, however was spurred on by his duty to inform Thelduin.

Thelduin & Maela

The white stag patiently waited his response, staring down the dark stranger to ensure that she did nothing shifty. However, the shouts from his seer snapped his attention away from Yona in an instant, his ears perked and eyes round. "Hyssop?" His eyes darted for several moments, searching the undergrowth and gnarled branches until he could pinpoint the location from where the calls emitted. Another scream for his name, this one louder than the last.

"Hyssop!!" In a matter of seconds, Thelduin was gone, leaving Maela to stand around awkwardly in a state of oblivious panic. Meanwhile, the leader bolted through the forest, lacking the grace and delicateness so characteristic to his species, instead crashing through the wilderness like a steamroller. Finally, the nearby sound of thundering hooves caught his attention, and he discovered the seer running in his direction.

Immediately, Thelduin sprang over to his fellow buck, seriousness causing his features to harden. "Hyssop! What happened, is everyone alright? Is anybody hurt?" Deep concern rung in his deep voice, while his eyes narrowed to try to pick out whatever emotions he could from Hyssop's eyes, hoping to get an understanding of what was occurring while he was gone. Heavens! How foolish of him, he should have known better than to leave them...disaster struck whenever Thelduin left them, even for a heartbeat. But when he was around? It was as serene as it could possibly be.

Roan had heard Hyssop’s frantic cries. She quickly got up and ran towards where she thought he was. She stumbled but got back up. In the distance she could see four deer. Three from the herd and one unknown doe. She stopped short not wanting to frighten them. She tensed seeing Thelduin leap away. She approached the two does cautiously. “I hope no one is hurt...or something else,” she said quietly. She glanced the stranger for a second. She hummed not really caring at the moment. She just wanted to know what was wrong.

Yonas wars went back as the buck and doe raced off after a crack. “Foolish beings.” She snorted and ducked down before cautiously following them back. Her long legs were careful not to catch on anything as she walked through the forest to where their grounds were. She watched them, her purplish pink eyes watching all that’s going around her.
