The Oakwood Herd has been around for years. The forest they roam was once a peaceful, protected place for generations of deer to flourish in. But as humans and other animals begin to occupy the surrounding area their numbers have steadily fallen. They must move away from the forest to survive. They don’t know where they’re going but they must go. Will they leave before it’s too late or will the fall until the herd is nonexistent?

For a tortuously long moment, Hyssop's heart sank, fearing that his cries had fell on deaf ears. There was no way he could give up the chase, but nor could he run forever. So, when the leucistic pelt of his leader bolted into view, he could only stagger to a nearby tree and lean on it's trunk for support, thoroughly exhausted by the vision and his endeavour to reach Thelduin. His eyes were deep with foreboding, and his usually calm exterior had been reduced to a buck crippled by dread and fear. Attempting to inhale, he struggled to catch his breath, before deciding that regaining his composure meant little in such a dire situation.

"They're coming," Hyssop panted haggardly, "The hunters.....I saw them." The buck paused for a moment, leaning heavily onto the tree with a wheeze. For a split moment, Hyssop recognised that he probably seemed far too anguished for such an announcement, for the danger could potentially be avoided, but he was in no mood to recount the harm he saw inflicted on any of the herd, in fear of sparking any more panic. "They were in the camp....they found us. I don't know how, or when they'll arrive....I'm sorry." Hyssop huffed apologetically, disappointed that he couldn't bring more important information to the table. The visions had subsided, but Hyssop felt as though one of his antlers had been torn clean from his head. He winced in pain, though it was of no surprise, for his abilities came with their repercussions.

Thelduin

With his form slowly sinking when Hyssop's fear became contagious, the nearly-white deer bowed his head in defeat. Their time of peace in the Oakwood forest had finally come to its end, leading to a reign of terror and murder. Never before had a vision been so seemingly troubling to Hyssop, so this one struck home with the stag. "So it's decided, then." Thelduin murmured at last, after waiting several moments to process what his seer had to say. He stared at the ground for what felt like an eternity, holding onto those precious memories of innocent youth, of when he and Maela roamed the forest with no threat from humans or other ravenous predators.

Eventually, Thelduin raised his head to stare his exhausted seer into the eyes once more, brow furrowing at the grimness of the subject. His memories might die with the forest if he and his herd remained much longer. It would be painful to leave the land in which he had been born, to abandon the forest that he played silly games in with Maela for so many years. But they could make new and better memories, if they managed to survive. "We will leave at sunrise, our safe haven is no longer safe for us. I will not let my family fall to those murderous humans."

Turning, he prepared to leave, but immediately forced his hoof back into the soft earth. He decided to wait, understanding the magnitude of agony that the visions caused Hyssop and concluding that it would be better of him to help support the buck back to camp if necessary. "We'll get a short rest back at camp, and try to prepare for the journey as much as we can. Mae will bring back the grass we found earlier for a quick and easy meal when we rise."

Marrone
Marrone snorted and dipped his head in anger as the humans neared their little home. He called to his daughter, Aponi and made sure she would stick close although she continuously began to wander off. The buck understood she was a full grown doe but he found it hard to let her go... after his mate was killed she was all he had left. He dipped his head as his daughter laid down, grooming her lovely red pelt. “Aponi, I want you to stick close to me for the best few days. No running off to explore and especially socializing with any bucks.” He growled at the thought of his angel being muddied by an undeserving male. He licked the top of her head before looking at everyone around him, he focused on Roan, who deeply reminded him of his past mate and he bit back tears, reminding himself that he could appear weak. Marrone sighed and moved away from his daughter and the rest of the herd, making sure to still keep an eye on her to make sure she was safe.

Aponi
The sweet red doe sighed with relief as her father moved away from her. Making sure she was still in his line of view she looked over at the melanistic doe that came to them. She trotted over to Theuldin and cleared her throat to call his attention. “Um so, who’s that over there?” She asked pointing to the black doe, sighing as she saw her fathers glare.

Yona
Just chilling yo

Roan followed the groups scent back to the camp. She saw Hyssop in distress. Quickly, she gathered a bundle of small black poppy seeds and gave them to him. She felt unease stick to her fur. She wondered what he had saw. But she didn’t ask not wanting to make him upset. She settled down hoping for some news soon.

(I’m a little sick right now. Hopefully I feel better tomorrow. I’ll try to respond when I can)

Thelduin

Turning, the stag decided to address the other "situation". "As for you," the leucistic deer began, referring to Yona. "...You have the option to join us. Otherwise, if you are a threat to the herd I regard as a family, I will see to it that you are eliminated." He was quick and prompt about it, and didn't hesitate to sugar-coat how he felt about it. Thelduin was feeling dead-serious, and he was sick of being frustrated by the threats that already existed. He didn't like the addition of yet another one.

Maela

Eventually, the pied doe caught up with her brother, noticing that Hyssop seemed in distress and Thelduin was clearly flustered. It wasn't a good sign, and it almost made the fine hairs along her spine stand on end. Shaking the scene out of her mind, Maela decided to escort herself back to camp, taking her supply of grass for the herd with her. Her brother was the leader for a reason, he could handle whatever was going on. For now, she would patiently wait for him to announce whatever news he had to share, instead of pressuring him. She hated to see him stressed, but...she knew that trying to poke her nose into it wouldn't help. He'd probably just snap at her.

"Of course, Thelduin." Hyssop replied, a little mournfully. Though he felt an immense weight had been lifted from his shoulders, and trusted that his leader had made a wise decision, Hyssop couldn't help but feel sad. Like most of the herd, he had a lot of treasured memories in the forest, and felt it was a shame leaving on such a bad note. However, he was not reluctant to leave in the least, for the last thing he wanted was to taint the forest with the death and disaster he'd seen in his visions. "Don't worry about me, I'll be as right as rain in a minute." Hyssop reassured, believing that Thelduin had far more important things to worry about than him. Besides, the pain he had been suffering from had slowly ebbed away, though he'd injured his back leg by stumbling onto a rock. Deciding that he didn't want to add another issue to the mix, he stood on his damaged leg, bracing himself and not recoiling in hurt.

Hyssop smiled at Roan, appreciative of the gesture. "Thank you." He said gratefully, bowing his head slightly in thanks.

Marrone is watching Aponi.

Aponi looked over at Hyssop and frowned. “You’re injured, I’m no healer but I’ve talked with them before and know a few things... want me to take a look at it?” She saw her father disapproving glare but chose to ignore it. A motherly look of worry came over her features as she looked at the injured seer.

Yona snorted at the buck. “I refuse to join your group, my soul will forever be tied to freedom. But if you allow me, these woods have become dangerous and I request to join you until I can find somewhere safer to live. Once I have found that place I will leave and hopefully never see you or your herd again.” She snorted and looked at the buck, her tone dominant and more of a command then a request. “Is that alright, Theuldin?” She has heard other members called him this and decided it was a power move to call him that as well.

Thelduin

The stag's tone became cold and unwelcoming, taking a threatening step forward so that his might and build may tower over her. His voice rang in warning as he spoke, making it clear that he meant business. "If you think you're so above us, then no: you may not travel with us. We are a family, and we treat our members as such. If you can't get with that, then you're welcome to leave our presence before I have my protectors chase you out. The choice is yours." The large-antlered Thelduin gave a warning stomp of a powerful foreleg before turning and focusing on his herd. It was time that he make the announcement, he wouldn't keep secrets from the Oakwood herd. It wouldn't be fair for them to not understand what was occurring.

Taking a step forward, Thelduin stood on a large boulder, so that he might grab their attention from their current activities. "Oakwood herd, my family and friends..." His tone was significantly more gentle when he regarded the herd, a polar opposite in the intimidating way he spoke to the loner. "...Hyssop has had a vision. Soon, the humans will be upon us, meaning our home is safe no longer. At dawn, we will leave the woods we have called our safe haven for countless generations. Get your rest and eat well, as our journey may be perilous and long."

Maela

When Maela spotted her brother approaching the boulder, she lifted her ears in curiosity. However, he finally made his announcement, the doe felt her heart drop like a stone in water. She had been born here, along with Thelduin, and they had played in these woods for over two years. They'd just have to...leave their memories behind? Just like that? The graves of Thorn and Pebbles...they were here in this forest.

Hyssop turned to Aponi, embarrassed that, despite trying to hide his pain, it was apparent that he had been injured. "It's quite alright, I just twisted it, is all," He replied sheepishly, moving it back and forth as if to demonstrate it's well-being, "I insist that I'll be fine." It gave a small throb, but in comparison to his earlier vision, it felt trivial. As long as he could run on it, he would be fine. If the time came where he could run no longer, he would allow himself to be left behind, if it meant that the herd would be safer. Hyssop gave a respectful glance over to Marrone, trying not to provoke the domineering buck. Though he wasn't intimidated by Marrone, for Hyssop rather pitied his overbearing personality, he didn't want to spark conflict amongst the herd when unity was what they needed most.

He looked to Thelduin glumly; as the bearer of the bad news, he always felt guilty that Thelduin had to be the one to announce his terrible vision aloud. A wave of silence overtook the herd, a collective sadness that ran deep through every buck and doe. Maela looked considerably distraught by the news, and it made his insides twist up uncomfortably.

Yona snarled. “I think I am above no one and in the same way no one is above me. Humans alike we are all equals on this earth. I apologize you have mistaken my words for an offense towards you and your kin but those were not my intentions.” She growled lowly and took in a deep breath, regaining her graceful posture. “I will travel with you and in payment towards your group I will aid in the medicine area. I have spent my days exploring these woods and know much that others do not about the properties of the herbs that reside here. That is my gift to you if I may travel with you, once we have reached safety you will never be bothered by me again.” She dipped her head to the buck, her words were slippery and yet held so much meaning.
