A time where vampire myths are commonly believed, and suspicion of the undead is high.
You reside in the town of Rivercrest, which seems like just another town, but when night falls it becomes far more sinister.

You are a vampire, and now it's time you have to choose whether you'll be swayed by your immortal bloodlust and feast to your undead heart's content, either manipulating your way to the top, using your wits to avoid being caught, isolating from the mortals and only interacting when it's time to feed, or simply slaughtering all those who oppose you. Or, you could try your best to shun who you are, and feed as little as possible, or only on consenting humans. But without feeding, you'll soon begin to find your immortality dwindling.
But, it's not just human hunters you have to worry about, werewolves will stop at nothing to rip you to shreds, if you're not careful, the toxic rays of dawn could soon turn you to mere ashes, or other vampires who find your existence irritating could try to slay you.

The roleplay is currently set in the 12th century.

As a vampire, you have to feed often, or you will begin to weaken. For every couple in-roleplay weeks, you have to feed, if you do not, your stats will drop by one, and your given immortality will soon begin to dwindle. You can kill an npc while feeding, or you can try your best to restrain yourself from completely killing them, or even ask for consent, but however, all of these come with their own consequences.

For example, if you try to ask an NPC and it fails, (An action that takes into consideration the NPCs personality, their relationship with you and your own Charisma stat.) Their suspicion of you will be very high, which will cause other NPCs to begin to shun or distrust you, or even hire mercenaries to hunt you down. The same with killing, if you're caught while feeding or killing, the town's suspicion of you will rise dramatically.

As the roleplay progresses over the irl months, and from how fast the roleplay progresses, the time period will also change, adapting through the centuries. And as your vampire ages, they will also grow stronger and you can choose 2 stats to improve per century.

Vampires in this roleplay will follow quite basic rules, they will turn to ash if exposed to sunlight for more than a couple seconds, they can only be killed by total removal of the head or heart, a weapon through the heart, or complete destruction of the heart or head. A vampire will look like a normal human when not feeding or feeling intense emotions, but their irises will turn red and fangs will grow. Vampires usually have the same abilities, their strength varying from how close they are to the first vampire, so a mortal turned by a vampire that was turned by the first vampire would be far stronger than a vampire turned by another vampire 8 generations from the first vampire.
It also depends on how long it was since the vampire last fed on human blood. But, the traits all vampires have are, immortality, enhanced sight, sense of smell, and hearing, super speed and strength, and enhanced regeneration.
Other powers are possible including telepathy, telekinesis, mind reading, hypnosis, invisibility, pyromancy, and more, although those are extremely rare. They cannot turn into a bat or grow wings.

Lothar Penn ⋄

⎡ Once again, Lothar followed Walter past the doors and out into the cool night air. The quiet, barely noticeable breeze made barely anyone shiver as he looked around quietly. Rivercrest.. he had only been here for a few years— about maybe two or even one and a half— and he was already taking his leave. He had lived a relatively.. entertaining life dominated by hopping from place to place, but settling down seemed quite welcoming at the moment. Letting the two speak, Lothar offered Walter silent but sure support with a slight side-eye, his stare telling enough— Walter was a strong man— he'd pull through this just fine. Estrid was ages old, so she was more than set as well. And Lothar? ... He was just Lothar, he supposed.
"Shall we get started on going?" Lothar asked calmly, his tone careful, as he didn't want to provoke Estrid's wrath and be beaten around the bend for speaking out of turn. If their first stop wasn't too far, time wasn't too much of a threat, but dawn always found a way to approach faster than anticipated. The moon still hung lazily in the sky, almost mocking Lothar with a false sense of urgency. ⎦

[Estrid Chamberlain]

Estrid gave you a firm look. "Yes, that would be best. Our first stop will be Dewhurst, a small farming village off to the east. Once there, the biggest problem will be convincing the residents to leave, leave me to that. I know of only one place they'll be secure from the beasts, atleast for now." Estrid spoke with her usual commanding voice, beginning to walk further on the compacted dirt road, your surroundings were very usual for a small settlement, wheat fields and rolling hills dotted the landscape, only broken by occasional copses and a few larger forests, mainly oak by the looks of it. The journey ahead will be long and rough, there will be obstacles, but you know there is no other option.

(Right, I'm going to head off for tonight, as it's currently 4am, lmao. ^^)

⎡ Lothar nodded at Estrid's orders, walking beside Walter, gazing about the quaint, quiet scenery of Rivercrest. He'd be lying if he said he wouldn't miss the little town a small bit. It's handsome men and dashing women, the beautiful sights it had to offer at night, the easy pickings that drew him to the place to begin with. Lothar sighed softly. However, this just how things were for creatures of warring races— thankfully, the mutts would be asleep by now in their little dens or.. or whatever it was they slept in— Hell if he knew. Hopefully, there'd be some new faces for him in Dewhurst. Maybe if he was lucky, he could resume his usual promiscuous ways— if time provided, that was. Now thinking on it, becoming a vampire had sort of turned Lothar into a bit of a deviant— an incubus, almost. One single day of realization you were immortal must've went to his head.

Continuing down the dirt path, Lothar silently pondered what would await them and the other vampires in the future. Would the werewolves be successful and wipe them out? No, no.. Estrid was leagues above superior to those measly creatures— vampires worked with intelligence and wit, not pack mentality. Strength over weakness, as some would say. Mutual respect was only granted if vampires were on equal pars with another, and thus made their hierarchy strange but powerful. Still, with dwindling numbers.. His mind continued to wander as they continued down the path, simply letting his legs go on autopilot as he continued to wonder and think. ⎦

[Estrid Chamberlain]

For a while, the walk was in pure silence, luckily the undead have much more stamina than any mortals, so a brisk pace was easily kept. Soon however, the road turned off into a large woodland, deciduous, overgrown, and ancient in nature, it's odd to think that Estrid is older than even the oldest trees here.

However, the silence wouldn't last, with your keen hearing you could hear the rustling of leaves and snapping of twigs. You could see that Estrid had heard it too, and her daggers already unsheathed. "Be on your guard, we're not alone." She snarled quietly, when she spoke, you noticed long and dangerously sharp fangs that threated to poke out of her mouth, her eyes gaining a crimson glow to them before soon turning completely crimson, which sent a wave of fear through your body once more.

Staying tense and still, the ancient vampire accessed the area, pinpointing the sound of ragged breathing and slowly began walking over, her footsteps inaudible even to you. And shockingly fast, she rushed forward, and from the undergrowth rose a large hulking beast. Before the creature even had the chance to make their first attack, Estrid was prepared and slashed out with the dagger in her right hand imperceptibly fast.

it's throat was slit deeply, drenching the ground in crimson, it attempted to struggle and fight, but in another swift motion the tendons in it's ankle was severed, leaving it to bleed out. "Don't let your guard down, where there's one mutt there will be more." She hissed, and almost as if on cue, more snarling and ragged breathing could be heard from the covered forest floor.

Lothar Penn ⋄

Large, looming trees hung overhead as they continued onwards, Lothar enjoying the scenery until something provoked them.

Heavy, strained breathing. Not that of struggling, but that of a predator in waiting. Lothar's own eyes flashed bright red, showing his extremely dilated pupils that soaked up the smallest remnants of moonlight. Although Lothar was more than afraid of what would happen, he didn't fear much with Estrid around and mobile. There were three of them, but how many mutts were there? Jumping, Lothar let out a hiss as one of the wretched creatures jumped out, right were Estrid was standing. Suppressing the urge to cry out a warning as to not alert more werewolves, Lothar watched in horrified amazement as Estrid effortlessly slayed the beast. It's form crumpled helplessly, oozing bright red crimson as it struggled to survive its more than fatal wounds. There are more of them.. Lothar thought sharply, standing tall and alert like a prairie hare as his red eyes scanned the forest surrounding them.
His head at first posed forward, the fledgling almost humorously cocking his head at odd angles to pick up any sounds. All he heard was gruff panting.
Repulsive.
His head then snapped to the left, then the right and his tall form then twisted at a clearly inhuman level, looking at whatever was behind them. Lothar wasn't much of a fighter, frankly, and was more of a scout— delicate hearing and wide-eyed, it wasn't uncommon for him to spot even the smallest creature trying to hide away. As if trying to challenge the mutts, he growled ever so softly and bared his fangs as more guttural growls and snorts ensued. He absolutely dared them to make a move.

In a split second, a large hulking figure shot out of the undergrowth, the beast was as you'd expect a werewolf, large, extremely muscular, razorsharp teeth and claws, and full of animalistic fury. It barreled towards you on all fours, it's furious orange eyes glowing, and it's pelt washed with a silvery shine in the pale moonlight. Glancing over to Estrid, you could see that she was battling off two wolves, while Walter scouted for any signs of more.

The lycanthrope infront of you seemed to be younger than the others that were attacking, slightly smaller and less grizzled, but still a fearsome sight.

Lothar Penn ⋄

"Filth!" Lothar sneered loudly as a wolf shot out at him, rearing back as his body tensed, readied for a proper duel. If there was one thing that disgusted Lothar Penn, it was a werewolf. It was mostly their twisted, drooling faces that repulsed him the most. Vampires were much more refined and sophisticated creatures with fangs and grace— all werewolves had was a thick, dirty coat of shaggy fur and large, toothy maws. However, as much as Lothar wanted to boast, he had zero experience when it came to fighting werewolves. In fact— this would be his first ever proper scuffle with one.
The brown-haired man hissed, his sharp, claw-like nails escaping the confines of his white satin gloves, his bright vermillion eyes burning with hatred as he aimed right at the pair of gleaming amber eyes. Both creatures seemed to be rather inexperienced and young compared to their superiors— perhaps either's inexperience would somehow be their strengths? Making a harsh swipe, it was much more clear that Lothar was as good at attacking as a wet paper towel.

his attack stat is 3 for future refrence!! //

The wolf snapped and bayed, dodging your attack with relative ease. It then lunged in for a clumsy attack, it's inexperience showing. You managed to defend yourself from the beast's snapping jaws without taking any damage. It circled you like prey, standing up to it's full height, about 7 feet tall and an absolute tower of muscle and bulk. Hot, disgusting breath bellowing out of it's mouth as it stared at you in a blind rage.

(As your character's defense is quite high, they rolled a 5, while the attacking wolf only rolled a 3. Unfortunately your attack rolled a strong 7, but it failed because your attack stat is only 3. ^^)

Just as expected— Lothar really was as harmful as a wet paper towel! Although his aim was impressive, his much daintier physique horribly hindered his chances of causing too much damage. However, making up for it, he moved with nimble precision, evading the creature's own attack and catching some good distance between them.
The werewolf snapped and bit at Lothar, hissing once more as he gave the beast a harsh swipe at it's maw before backing off, the both of them prowling in a tight circle now like two apex predators— in some respect, they both were predators. Lothar's nose scrunched up as his sensitive sense of smell picked up the creature's rancid breath. Disgusting whelp— I doubt they even bathe.. Lothar thought, sizing up the werewolf as they continued to circle each other. It was built as expected— impressive, solid muscle and strength in each bone and inch of flesh. However, if this wolf had it's proper anatomy, Lothar could get it right on the neck— maybe break it's femur somehow? He doubted he had much arm power, but if he tried hard enough, maybe he could snap its neck clean in half. Time would only tell..

The creature stared at you in a stalemate, seemingly thinking of it's own attack strategy like you are. Out of the corner of your eye, you notice Estrid watching you intently, it was clear she had dispatched the other two werewolves as blood was splattered across her attire, but she looked tense and ready to attack. Was this a test?

The Lycan suddenly lunged towards you again with a strong snap, but you managed to dodge that as well with your extremely fast reflexes, leaving it open to attack.

Continuing to circle another, Lothar perked up as he noticed a bloodied Estrid observing their fight. She seemed ready to spring into combat, but seemed to be just watching for now— as if she were merely observing a game. Lothar snapped his attention back to the lycan, narrowing his brilliant ruby eyes as he readied his sharp nails, wanting to get a good aim at the werewolf's face, or if he was lucky, maybe neck. Of course, in usual Penn fashion, he was merely faking that as well. Tricking people with expectations was simple enough— he was a good liar with both words and body language, but it'd only tell if the beast thought he was going to shred its eyes to bits.
Jumping backwards as it launched at him, Lothar moved like a small predator— he almost expertly twisted his form so he leapt out of the werewolf's way, quickly reaching into his back pocket with proficient speed, pulling out a small needle-like dagger of his own— a stiletto blade— with a charming golden-rimmed handle with comfortable grip, Lothar held onto it as if it was the only thing keeping him alive. Using his strong legs, he sprung directly at the werewolf, clinging onto its face like a deranged, rabies-infected animal and aimed right for its face. If he somehow missed, he knew it'd cost him immensely, but if he didn't miss, he'd get a clean shot right where he wanted it. Eyes, ear, right up the nose, Lothar didn't really have an exact aim, really, he just wanted to give the creature a reason to fear vampires.

The risky leap paid off, as luck was on your side. The creature growled and writhed, but your dagger met it's eye. And with a sickening squelch, it found it's way through the eyeball and into the creature's brain, the writhing just causing more damage. And soon, the mutt fell to the ground, dead. Blood pooled under the large beast as it's eyes glazed over. Looking back up to Estrid, you notice her turning away and sheathing her daggers. "No sign of anymore wolves in the area." Walter said, his nose wrinkling at the foul smelling blood and death that now permeated the air. The now bedraggled looking blonde vampire looked you up and down, checking for injuries. "It uh, seems like you handled yourself pretty well." He said almost awkwardly, a strange contrast to his usually charismatic nature.

But Estrid spoke up, her voice scathing. "He got lucky he was facing against a young one." The ancient vampire said with a matter-of-factly tone, before turning to you, same bored eyes looking down upon you as if you're a child. "You're agile enough for a fledgling, but when fighting you lumber around like a mortal. Let me do the fighting from now on, getting you killed now would be counterproductive." She didn't even humour a reply and began walking along the road once more.

Lothar growled loudly as the lycan writhed and hissed in its final moments— the disgustingly wet sound of the dagger passing through the eye and into the brain. Deciding to play it a little bit dirty, he twisted the dagger cruelly before ripping it out, coming down with the beast as he landed on the ground, panting heavily as he stood up properly, staring down at his kill. Sure, he had killed a human or two, but a werewolf would certainly look good on his vampiric record. Looking at his bloodied dagger, he growled under his breath. "This was my favorite stiletto, too.." Lothar muttered angrily, as if it was nothing more than a trivial matter.
At Walter's words, Lothar couldn't help but feel as if he made the blonde uneasy— it wasn't necessarily Lothar's intention, either— the mutts started it! Lothar simply nodded, feeling alright as his blood-red eyes began dulling back down to their usual deep brown, Lothar closing his eyes a bit as Estrid then came after him, as if he were trying to hide the fact they more than likely flashed bright red again. If he was angry or startled was anybody's guess, but the fledgling grimacing ever so slightly at Estrid growling at him probably proved the latter. It wasn't necessarily his fault he was so weak— besides, he had many years ahead of him to grow. He knew it'd be near impossible, but a small, tiny part of him almost wanted to impress Estrid. He thought he had done good enough taking down the werewolf, but it seemed like that wasn't good enough whatsoever. Opening his eyes again, Lothar simply put his stiletto away back into his back pocket, following behind his superiors once more.

[Estrid Chamberlain]

The elder vampire gave an exasperated sigh before turning back to Lothar. "I'll give you a bit of training when we get to Dewhurst, if any of us are to survive this we need to be at our best." She addressed in her usual commanding tone, leaving no room for objections and the imposing vampire started trekking forward again.

Continuing on the road and out of the woods, in the distance you could see a small settlement surrounded by farmland. Walter slowed down to match your speed, and gave a small smile. "That's Dewhurst, and we've still got a decent amount of time until dawn. All things considered, that's better than I expected." His former awkwardness seemed to have disappeared somewhat. "So, how old actually are you, Lothar? As long as that's not a sore question, of course." He said in a friendly manner. It's odd that Walter and Estrid weren't at each other's throats constantly, from what you could see, they seemed like polar opposites.

Well, at least that was somewhat reassuring. At least now he'd be getting tips and pointers from Estrid herself.

As the trio continued onwards, the woods began to turn into an almost prairie-like landscape, with wild stalks of wheat and smaller flowering plants outlining the pathway. Lothar, although distracted with his thoughts, perked up as Walter spoke to him. How old was he? "Oh, well— I was turned at I believe was twenty-nine. It was on a dark night, and one of my clients just so happened to be a vampire." Lothar began, his usually soft and prim tone turning somewhat bitter on 'clients'. "He bit me good right on my shoulder, and now, here I am. I think now I'm about fifty-six— nothing in comparison to you and Estrid, I assume." Lothar chuckled softly, seeming to be more eased in Walter's presence than in Estrid's.
