We went back to square one - we'd like to get your feedback on a new design that we've created, heavily inspired by the current layout - just spruced up a bit, and modernized to use more current web technology! Some Notes: * This is not the final iteration of the layout, it's a preview build - there may be minor issues that will be fixed, or things that we rearrange. Please don't worry about bug reporting or making suggestions for repositioning at this point - we're looking for feedback about how the layout as a whole feels to you! * This layout should be fully mobile responsive, including the lion images and their layers * We are about 99% of the way with color contrast accessibility, and the new accent colors (buttons, progress bars [hunger, energy, etc]) should be colorblind friendly. * Alerts can cause a problem due to very similar brightnesses so icons have been added to alerts to counteract any bad interactions with colorblindness. * Layout Preview Settings: At the bottom of the page there are two options for layout settings. * Text can be resized to your preference within a range. The current default text size (90%) is the most similar to Lioden's current text size. 100% will be the new default when this layout launches, but we will automatically set everyone who is a member at the time to 90% so it's less of a harsh adjustment right away. The plan is that when the layout is implemented, this will be a setting on your account that you can change at will. * The site's theme can be changed to the game's existing layout themes (Day/Default, Night and Desert) and there is a new Dark theme. We are still tweaking Dark theme, and it's important to note that Night and Desert are lower contrast themes and may cause accessibility issues. Aesthetically its pleasing, but in execution it feels way too cluttered. The current layout for Lioden has enough simplicity and everything is easy to find, whereas (personally, I feel) the new one would have both new and old players scanning the pages for a few minutes trying to find what they're looking for. In hindsight, its too close to Wolvden, which on its own has too much and is super confusing. It is nice that the new layout gives the game more of a game-feel instead of a browser, however. Personal feels [] Lion page [] Everything should be left alone on this page, except for: - Physical appearance is eye-pleasing in terms of style, not so much by organization - Appearance and markings should be kept as current under one box. The line colors are good and make it easier to see - Breeding info/parents should be kept as the current, single-block layout - The color coding on the kill/chase/secure/unsecure buttons is quite nice and makes it easier to differ the actions (I've accidentally chased so many cubs rahhh) - Maybe move the "use the equipper" button next to the "import to wardrobe" button, then expand appearance if there are decorations equipped - The icon indicators are nice (black stallion, etc) but the alerts themselves aren't as big of alerts like the current ones are. A combination of the picture icons and current alert banners would be fine I think [] Themes [] - Colors are nice on the eyes, not too dull, not too saturated - I'm not sure if these are coded to be colorblind friendly, but yellow might not be the biggest warning indicator? Might just be me [] Landing page [] - Short, sweet, to the point - Colors fit the Lioden aesthetic. The background could use a little texture though? Overall nice concepts 4 players like this post! seems kinda off to me, like the art changes to be way too bright and idk maybe I just don't like change but i don't really like it much, and really like what we have now I like how the bars for hunger and mood are colored but they don't take up the whole rectangle area bit and it looks to small 5 players like this post! I don't really like the collapsing idea either. Couldn't the box sizes be adjusted so that every one isn't the same size and so bulky, thereby fitting more information into a shorter page, similar to the current mobile layout? Is that not doable? 2 players like this post! Like? |

@Jen I understand why that would be your first impression! Looking on mobile at the differences between the current layout and this proposed one, though, I think the current one is far easier to read and navigate. The boxes are all different sizes right now, but it makes them easily distinguishable; it fits more information into less space and doesn't create unnecessary visual clutter. The new one is just a row of almost identically sized boxes only broken up by the markings section. You might still find the new proposal easier to navigate, which is, fair enough. They won't be able to make everyone happy if the layout change goes ahead. I just wish an option to keep the current appearance would be possible haha 3 players like this post! Like? |

I have zero critique. I love everything about it. It is very familiar, just refreshed to modern standards, so it's not a huge change. Specifically organization-wise, the lion page seems more unified and thought out, not just being things tacked on over time so much. Really nice. The font size options and dark theme will be so, so wonderful for us migraine-prone and night owls, I am definitely looking forward to it!! 1 player likes this post! Like? |

I am strictly a desktop user. I am a fan of the layout change proposals! It's pleasing and does not feel too busy or otherwise difficult to navigate for me. I would not be opposed to there being an ability for people to customise their own layout—collapsing less relevant information, shuffling things around, etc. This would hopefully help those who personally find it too cluttered. I would also not be entirely against a toggle that lets people switch between the old and new layout; however, I do not know how feasible this would be, as, as I understand it, the current layout is built on dated code that may not be compatible with certain future features, as was mentioned in the original news post. It would effectively have to be recoded whilst retaining its appearance, I'd imagine. Either that, or people would be either locked out of or thrown into the new layout when interacting with new features, which probably wouldn't be ideal. I'd only be up for this if it was possible to keep it whilst also not limiting future updates. Edit: According to one of Abbey's earlier replies, it seems that recoding the old layout whilst keeping its appearance is not doable. The latest version on the desktop is much more pleasing! Just a few comments: 1) Please put the "former prides" button in its current spot on top right below the "belongs to ... pride". 2) Right now when we use items on lions for breeding, the notices include their names followed by the item's function. Can we have the names included with the pictures? 3) Please put the "reveal fertility" button right next to her fertility. 4) In the same fashion, please put the "add marking slot" button with the markings. And once all 10 slots are revealed, it disappears? 5) I liked the "equipped decor" section from the first version, so I am kind of disappointed that it is gone  Is it simply hidden and that button is meant to reveal it or was that idea scrapped completely? Also, where is the "temp hide decor" button?6) Please add the den number on the side under the name. 7) Personally I don't really want the event tier progress bar on the side, I think it should just be the event name + event currency. Overall, quite pleasant on the desktop! But it still looks very busy and overwhelming on mobile and might be quite discouraging for new and current players who are primarily on mobile. Is it possible to have an option to choose which layout you might have at any given time? 4 players like this post! Like? |

I commented earlier, but I'm revisiting .. after taking a good look at the previews multiple times throughout today, here are things I found that bothered me most. Apologies if some seem a bit nitpicky. - the king image constantly being on display next to your energy, hunger, exp & impression bars - event progress bar also being shown at all times, taking up a large portion of the event currency section - chat box feels very blended in with the rest of the page, specifically on day & desert themes - the font - letters seem closer together, adds to the cramped feel of the layout - all the box headers having no seperation to the text inside them (achievements, for example) - the lion page feels as though it takes away from the lion & has a lot of information on one page, plus all the seperate tables are rather confusing - import to wardrobe & equipped decors on the lion page look like they were shoved into the design; looks very random, would likely look better closer to the bottom of the page - no collapse for the settings option on the lion page - former prides button on lion pages not being next to/below the ''belongs to __'s pride'' text - lion page names not being centered - slightly picky with this one but it feels disruptive of the flow of the page - send to nature reserve being considerably larger than the chase + kill buttons, seems as though it'd be easy to misclick - the breeding information tab as a whole feels like a step down from what we currently have. at the moment, we can easily see both parents of a lion, the full heritage button nearby, and the cubs bred button all in one table, rather than seperate tables & extra buttons 7 players like this post! It looks pretty good, but on mobile, the lion page is very long. It would be a pain to scroll down that far. I like the one now, the new one seems a bit busy, but also cool 4 players like this post! Like? |

I like everything except for the "actions" tab at the bottom... to me it would make more sense to put "add a marking slot" under the markings and "reveal fertility" next to fertility. But I think it still looks amazing!! 1 player likes this post! Like? |
