She relaxed a little a Tumbleweed’s friendly demeanor. “Indeed I am,” Obsidian replied. She flicked an ear, listening to Lunar wake up Ahmen. “You ready for a hunt?” Obsidian had seemed to become more relaxed around the group. She didn’t know what made her feel at ease, but she didn’t seem to mind it.

The large tom dreamed of icy winds, frozen rivers, and snow covered mountains. Ahmen saw himself rolling in the snow of a field. Distant figures in the horizon were making his way towards them but they vanished before he could get a good look. The feeling of pressure being applied on his head slowly roused the lion from sleep. He didn’t want to wake up, he was in a comfortable position. As his consciousness was coming back to him also were the memories of the last day. Maybe it was time to get up? He’d have to face everyone eventually.

“I’m up, I’m up”, he grumbled. Rising to his feet he gave his body a stretch, enjoying the warm spots of sunlight peeking through the trees. “Good morning to you too Lunar”, though it didn’t sound like it from Ahmen’s sarcastic tone. His ears swiveled to the group of the lioness talking. Seems like he was the last one to wake. Ahmen sat on his haunches, taking this time to groom his mane and get his bearings for the day. “What’s the plan for today?”

Mistletoe stretched in the warm morning sun. Her claws dug scratch marks in the dirt as she did so. "It's time to hunt. There is a good-sized herd of Gazelle over there." She once again flicked her tail off to the left, indicating the direction they were in "We were just waiting for everyone." She smiled as she lightly shook her coat out.

Tumbleweed smiled as Ahmen reluctantly got up, grumbling sarcastically at Lunar. She could understand being tired, but it was amusing to see the normally imposing male looking scruffy and bedraggled. It would be a good hunt later, she was sure. With the speed and stealth of the lionesses, and the two lion's strength and strength and power, they were sure to have a good chance of taking down some prey.

Lunar stuck out his bottom lip, visibly annoyed by his friend's sarcasm. However, for some reason Ahmen reminded him of his older brother, Scipio and his mind wandered back briefly to when they had still been together in a pride.

His mind snapped back into attention.

"What? Oh... Yes! Hunting! Who's good at hunting? I'm okay - but it would be nice if someone who was a little bit more skilled at leading could go..."

Lunar turned his head, looked at the others, and smiled kindly. This was his pride now, After all.

Mistletoe made her way around the group, coming up on Tumble's side. "I think Tumble should lead us on this hunt." She playfully nudged the lioness forward. "I think she would do amazing." She moved back to Lunar's side, smiling as she did so.

Mistletoe was good at hunting, though she usually hunted at night because of her coat. She would help in any way she could, but she trusted Tumble to be able to do this.

Tumbleweed

"I'd be happy to, as long as we can all work together." She huffed a laugh, before making sure they were all ready to go. She followed Mistletoe's directions carefully, slinking through the tall grass, the bright sun warming her coat. "Alright. Mistletoe, Obsidian, you'll follow me, and help look for a weak or injured one. We'll get as close as possible, and make our move. Lunar, Ahmen, I want you in to follow us at more of a distance, and when we've got our teeth in one of the gazelle, I want you two to charge out and help us pin it down." Tumbleweed started off, moving towards the left of the herd as she looked around for potential obstacles that they could trap a gazelle against.

Ahmen would prefer a few more hours of sleep but he knew the rush of catching a kill would rouse him. He nodded along with Tumbleweed plan. When they first met the lioness she had managed to catch prey on her own so following her lead would be no problem. He trusted her instinct despite knowing each other for a short time.

His eyes roamed over the lionesses moving ahead, taking a moment to scan everyone individually. In the night there's been some new additions to the little group and it would be exciting to see how they all worked together. Hopefully everyone decided to stay. The dark lion was used to coalitions after being kicked out of his home pride. Maybe this new one could soothe the ache?

Walking alongside Lunar, Ahmen flashed a smile his way. "Hey isn't this exciting? We're acting like a pride".

Obsidian nodded. “That sounds like a good plan,” She grinned enthusiastically. “Let’s do it!” She was excited to see what the others were good at and this would be a good opportunity to learn to hunt in a group. A small pang of annoyance and a small bit of sadness as she remembered that her old pride wouldn’t let her hunt with the group because they thought she would slow them down. She shook out the thoughts. She was better than her old pride would ever believe. She would one day show them! She grinned again followed Tumbleweed towards where the herd of Gazelles were.

Lunar's face brightened at Ahmen's remark. He turned towards him and smiled.

"It's so nice seeing everyone getting on well together."

He quickened his pace and winked his eye at the lion beside him.

"Come on, we've got a job to do - we can't lose to the girls!"

Mistletoe followed close to the other lionesses, looking for any weaker prey to catch. She found 2 lone animals, slightly away form the herd. She huffed, signaling towards the Gazelle. The 3 of them and the males could catch both prey and eat them.

Tumbleweed

Tumble lengthened her stride, moving at a quick half-trot through the thick tall grass. "Let's start with the one on the left, and try to chase the other one towards the males. If we're quick, we should be able to bag them both." She crouched closer to the ground, moving slowly and carefully, while directing the other lionesses into position to flank the gazelle. Closer... Closer... Now! Tumbleweed lunged, claws unsheathing as she lept towards the unsuspecting animal, managing to sink her claws in just enough to get a grip on the creature.
With any luck, one of the two lionesses would help her take it down, leaving the other to chase the remaining gazelle towards the males.

Obsidian sprang forward with Tumbleweed, she watched as Tumbleweed got her claws in it. Obsidian went for the animal’s jugular and squeezed it until it couldn’t get any oxygen. The Gazelle died quickly and so at least they had one of the two so far.

Lunar couldn't quite see how the lionesses were doing, but the giant stampede of hooves against coarse grass told him what he needed to know.

His body lurched forward at one of the gazelles that Tumble had forced aside from the others. While Tumble and Mistletoe brought down one, Lunar pressed forwards. His paws thudded against the ground at an unexpectedly fast rate. Arching towards the gazelle he got behind her in no time. The gazelle was startled at first, but picked up the pace now.

Lunar carefully maneuvered the gazelle closer and closer towards Ahmen, knowing his good friend would help him out.
