I had an idea! So, what if, during NPC battles in explore, you have a 15% (% may be changed to whatever) To kill the animal, instead of it escaping/fleeing every time? Example: If I won a battle against the rhino, and I killed it instead of letting it flee, I would get a message alog the lines of 'This animal was too weak to defend itself any longer! You killed it and gained ___ carcass (or skull).'

Tell me what you think!
(I'm sorry if this has already been suggested, I just never found anything like this, so I thought I would suggest.)

Edit: Drongo suggested that we should have a 50% chance to be able to land a 'killing blow'. I think, that if you are lucky enough to gain this, instead of having the option to bite, you should have the option to ,'Kill'. And, when you kill, only THEN do you have a 15% chance to gain something, such as a skull, a rib bone, or the carcass of the animal you had just killed!

Another edit:

J suggested "If a Male lion kills during a battle - should he get items like a skull, rib bone, and such. I think that's fine. Most people hoard or sell those to the monkey shop I think.

For Carcasses, they should be one use carcasses.. like if you kill a Rhino, in the event.. it's what.. 13 uses? If the Male kills it, the carcass amount of uses should be reduced significantly.. so that hunting stays important.

It also would cut down on the amount of SB one gets and the value of the carcass when selling, if people are worried about inflation."

And Klare suggested "that if you manage to land a killing blow you can get a higher percent chance of a carcass. Then, you could glean the carcass for bones, fill your hunger a tad, but not get the carcass. Since in reality, you won't just get a skull. You'll get a body, and if you want a skull, you can take it out by having your main lion eat some, or of course you could keep the carcass for food"

Heulog suggested:
After you won the fight, the fighting menu's options would switch, with a message about the opponent being too weak to flee.

You would have 3 options:

Kill quickly - you end your opponent's sufferings without any delay. This would get you good karma.

Kill slowly - you take all your time, torturing your weakened opponent until it dies. This would get you bad karma.

Hide until it dies - you decide to hide until your opponent dies by itself. This option would be neutral.

The options would have the same rewards. The only difference would be the karma.

What if, instead of a 50/50 chance of a kill blow, when you reach the end of the battle it says:

The [insert animal] cowers, ready to turn and flee.

And then you'd have the option to let it escape, with a karma gain.

or

Kill it, for a significant amount of energy. (15, or 20%)

That way you're not getting a huge amount of carcasses, but you can get them if you need them, and it values letting the animal live if you're trying for positive karma.

Whispermouse> thats a cool idea, but it would be more of a chance with only 50% and if it costs more energy it could become frustrating.. Cool odea though!

I support~

Well, this could help out large prides quite a bit, and smaller prides would have a lot more money from selling.

What if the size of your pride or the hunger of your lionesses or yourself played a part? Like, if you had > 60% hunger, you could see a message like, "Your hunger led you to kill the animal! You get a _____ carcass!"

It wouldn't be useful to let your king starve for the benefits, either, because if your king is too hungry, he doesn't regain energy properly. It would help prides that don't have enough food to go around.

Everything needs a trade off though, Arista. I'm saying it should be an option every time, but it costs energy. That way the people who need carcasses can use energy to get them. Otherwise they just become a tool for SB inflation and don't really serve a purpose.

Nyanunix> Great idea!! Adding

Whispermouse> i was trying to make this idea, more of a chance though. To a give and recieve sort of thing, just by chance. Though it is a nice idea, I just can't say I agree.

What if you could choose whether to kill the animal or not, and that affected your karma?

Jgirl> I thought about adding that, but it could be a dis-advantage to us good lions. For instance, if we wanted good karma we would never be able to take part in 'killing' the animal. That is why I wanted to leave out the karma. :)

I support because i mostly end up having to have my lions starve for 2 days or more because I cannot find food.

I support this but I would kinda like the same in return. If you have a sub male you should have the chance that your King might die in battle. #yolo

Desertion, now I disagree with that. Most people put a LOT of work into king,a nd if there was a chance he could die, no one would battle, I know I wouldn't.

I dunno if I support this idea /specifically/ but it drives me crazy that the issue of 'killing' is conflicting in various messages.

For example, you are asked to "kill" so many animals of what type by the Questing Snake... but they all run away with their last ounce of strength?? augh. (yes I know it still counts)

I hate the events saying you have to "Kill" this or that, but then all the creatures actually, technically escape, since that is how the battle system words it.

It could be cool if you won and it said you killed it- but yeah, then where does the carcass go?

Maybe LioDen will address this in later updates. They could have each type of kill have a different outcome, as suggested here- let them run for karma gain, scatter the remains for karma loss, 'scavenge kill' to have a random chance of getting less hunger (like finding the leopard kill) or gaining 'a chew bone' or a skull or etc... it would be cool.

I don't really like including karma, due to the fact that again, this could be a disadvantage to 'good' lions
