Njau looked up into the glaringly bright African sky, at the vultures that circled around above his head. He knew that their interests lay not in himself, but in the zebra that lay dead at his paws. Gore painted his maw, and the equine's belly was torn open, contents spilled out onto the thirsty ground, which eagerly soaked in the blood and juices. He roared at the wretched birds before continuing his meal.

The young lion rolled over himself, laying at a tree's shade. Bugs buzzed around him, annoying as always. He repelled a couple of them with the lash of his own tail. He looked over to the sky, wondering how many other lions stared at it too.

Donnie
He gazed at the sky, while i just gazed at something better: him. Yup, im madly in love with Njau, the fearless loner. Not noticing me yet, but i know he will someday, and that will be the best day of my life! -Oh, Senpai...- I purred to myself. Laying in the ground next to a tree, not too far from that pound of handsomeness. Suddenly, he let out one of his mighty roars, wich made me froze as my heart skipped a beat. -Kyaaa!- I squealed by accident. Oh god, did he hear me?

Njau lifted his head, looking around for the source of the sudden sound. It was high, most likely some small creature frightened by his roar. A bird, perhaps? He ignored it, shoving his head into the body cavity to rip out the liver, devouring it in several large bites.

In the distance, perched on a tall termite mound, a black and white creature watched the commotion across the Savannah. A zebra carcass? That would fetch a few beetles, even if it was just the bones. She knew a buyer. She also spotted an adolescent on his back, flopping about. Was he dying? She could find a buyer for that, too. She ran down the mound and toward the adolescent, her large ears perked and her long legs flying across the cracked, hot sand.

He noticed some pawsteps just above his head, and looked back. -Huh?- He barely reacted at seeing a little Aardwolf looking down at him. -Can i help you?- He asked.

Oh god...he heard me! what do i do?! Hell, im such a coward, go talk to him, of course!

it took me all i had not to run back like a scared cub once i walked to him. I lowered my head, trying to look submissive and show im no threat to such a strong, well muscled, and attractive male.

Artemisia paused in her steps just long enough to rethink her approach. "Oh, my. I thought for certain you were dead." She pranced down the rest of the way to sit in front of him with a grin. "You should know better than to go belly-up around here, what with all the scavangers." She licked her small muzzle, then snapped her jaws shut on a passing fly, teeth meeting with a clack.

Njau looked up at the approaching adolescent, the smacked a huge paw down atop his kill possessively. A deep rumble built up in his chest and his tail lashed about. Blood covered his muzzle and face from his meal. "What do you want?" He inquired, voice smooth and even despite the snarl painted on his maw.

He smiled. -Well yeah i just tought of resting a bit. I've been traveling a long way from home. Anyway, it will not be long until i finally die of hunger.- He mumbled, looking at the small canine in front of him.

Damn! -I-I'm no foe. I just came to see...if you would...accept a loyal follower.- I asked shily, barely smiling at the great male in front of me. Oh dear, i feel like im gonna melt!

One could practically see the beetles dancing behind Arty's eyes as she smiled. "Well, I happen to know where a few small morsels are buried. I could share with you... for a fee..." She licked her dainty muzzle again, large ears pushed back innocently as her earrings sparkled in their holes.

Njau sank his claws into the flank of his prey, sharp points easily piercing the skin. A follower? He had no wish for a pride, but he knew that some prideless males traveled together for protection and help hunting. He needed no protection, but the prospect of easier food... and he could always eat the kid if he got too annoying... "Fine. For now." To emphasize his place at the top of the hierarchy, he sank his teeth into the leg of the zebra and ripped it put of socket, the damaged flesh giving way and the whole lot coming clean off the body. He tossed it aside for the younger male, then took a large bite out of the equine's heart.

"For a fresh bird or turtle carcass, I'd say... 5 silver?" Arty gave a coy little smirk. "But if you have a nice skull lying around, I can get you something bigger." She rubbed her thick, fluffy tail beneath Izzi's chin, grinning ear to large, batty ear.

Njau rolled his crimson eyes at the small male, ripping the rest of the heart out. He looked at the remains of his meal, still a large amount, and the thought of those buzzards getting it sickened him. He would have to make camp here, it seemed. "You. What is your name?" He asked suddenly.

-Sure- He jumped up the tree and reached for a rat skull in the top of a branch. -There you go- He threw it to the floor and pounced back at the same time.

Arty examined the rodent skull carefully, looking over every nook and cranny. "No bad cracks, all the teeth are there... bottom jaw is missing, but that's common. I'd say it's worth..." She hopped back toward her termite mound, but stopped at a rock nearby. Tipping it over, she dug a small ways beneath the sand to retrieve a fat pigeon. It wasn't exactly a full meal, but it was energy enough to go out and catch one himself. "Here ya go, hun. Fair trade, yes?" She scooped up the skull in her jaws, being very careful not to damage it.

"Alright, Donnie, go out and search for water. We need to make camp until the rest of this carcass is finished off." Njau looked around, claws still dug into his meal's skin defensively. In the distance, he spotted a small striped creature, an Aardwolf, running toward a tall termite mound with something clutched in their jaws. He growled, but didn't roar out. Aardwolves were bug eaters, his prey was safe.

He smirked and sank his teeth into the avian, quickly devouring it. He laid back into the ground and looked at the Aardwolf. -So...are you all by yourself here?- he asked.

I obeyed inmediately. I ran into the same direction i came from, where i had found a small pond just a few hours ago. When i reached for it, i saw 2 lions, probably my age, drinking from it. One of them was a reddish color i had never seen before. They didnt spot me at all. Who are these?
