Jayne looked with curiosity as she saw someone else walk over to the bleachers. When the girl didn't come sit down, she raised an eyebrow. She was even more confused as the girl pulled out a cigarette and began to smoke. Worried and a bit shocked, she walked up to the girl. "Hey," she said, touching the girls shoulder lightly. "You shouldn't smoke. I'd hate to see you die or something." True, she didn't really know the girl, but to see someone throw their own health out the window worried her. She was about to continue, when she saw that soccer was starting up. "I've got to go," she told the stranger abruptly. "Kylie will probably kill me if I let the team down or whatever." She threw her hair up into a ponytail and jogged out to the field, joining the team.

"Sorry I'm a bit late," she told the team. "I just had to wrap up the paragraph I was writing." As she apologized, she mage sure to glance pointedly at Kylie. She knew that the girl took the sport seriously. Sure, Jayne took it seriously, too; after all, she had spent a lot of time and money on physical therapy. But Kylie cared about soccer more than anyone Jayne knew. Because of this, Jayne worked hard to be a good team mate. On the field, she was helping other people's dreams come true. She jogged over to Kylie in between a few drills. "Sorry again for being late. I know this means a lot to you." After her serious apology, she decided to joke a bit with her fellow varsity teammate. "You're not going to un-invite me to you're party, are you?" she asked with a fake pout. "Because I was really excited to spend the evening surrounded by a bunch of drunk teenagers." She elbowed the girl lightly, grinning at her own goofiness.

Jayne smiled at her friends cockiness. honestly she kind of deserved it, considering how amazing she was at the game. As Kylie left, Jayne continued to run laps. After all, she had to keep in shape if she wanted to be a state champion on the track. After running around the track more times than she could keep track of, she finally stopped. At this point, her knee was in agonizing pain. She'd overdone it, but she couldn't help it. She wanted to be the best, and she hated that her injury was getting in the way of that. She limped back into the school, grabbing an ice pack before returning to the track.

Sitting in the middle of the field, she held the pack to her knee. Eventually the cold numbed the pain, but she was still pretty tired from practice and running. She decided to sit there for a while longer before heading home to clean up for the party. As she sat, she glanced back at Smoker Girl. She really hoped that she would quit it. She decided against confronting her about it, however. This was for a few reasons. For one, she didn't have the energy to do it right now. Also, she didn't want to come of as one of those rude people who criticizes other people's actions to the high heavens. She did kind of want to talk to the girl though. Say hi, learn her name, have a normal conversation with her. But she couldn't do it; she was simply too exhausted to hold a conversation. After thinking for a while, she realized that she had been staring at the girl the entire time. When she noticed this, she quickly got up and turned away, deciding that now would be as good a time as any to head home and get ready for the party.
