THE ROAD of LIFE
RP THREAD
Welcome to the roleplay thread. Your characters are played here. Enjoy. Here's a link for the OOC thread if you want to join. click me.

Guidelines:

1. The RP happens in the savannah. Something like the pridelands in TLK, but more dry.

2. The temperature is the average for any dog to basically survive, but at night, the temperature will go lower, especially in desert-like areas.

3. Once a IRL week, a character will be randomly picked to endure a survival challenge. Their living state (dead or alive) will depend entirely on what they have learned from their surroundings, and how well have they adapted.

4. If you get rebellious, prepare to be called out and scolded by a packmember who is superior or equal to you.

5. Pregnant and nursing females are kept away from the pack due to possible agressiveness caused by feeling threatened. While they're away, they don't go in hunts and are guarded by a packmember of their choosing.

6. All dogs share their food due to the need of equal strength among all members.

7. Hierarchy goes like this: 1. Leader 2. Commander 3. Packmembers & Mothers 4. Youth

Current RP Stats

- YEAR 1. MONTH 1. WEEK 1. (11 of September, 2017.)
- SEASON: SUMMER

Dagga's panting was heavy from the skirmish, but other than that he was seemingly unaffected by the previous events regarding the death of his master. It wasn't his usual handler; the man was tall and sported a patch over his left eye. He didn't spark Dagga as a very intelligent human being. Funny, he thought humans were renowned for their smarts. He was, however, a brute of a man, and thought he could get away with pushing Dagga around. After the others were taken down by those beasts the humans admired so much for their tusks, the eye patch man didn't stand a chance. Even with his gun, he was defenseless to the jaws of the unscrupulous hound. He showed him a much worse fate than to be caught under the feet of those wild giants. He still couldn't get the foul taste of the human's blood out of his mouth.

He knew his murderous actions wouldn't be much of a secret to his pack members for long. His muzzle was practically dripping with the eye patch man's blood, and it wrenched with his smell. They're smart enough to at least put two and two together, but he decided quietly as he lay sprawled out on a large flat rock jutting out of the ground, that he couldn't give a rat's ass whether or not they trusted him.

Dagga was visibly uninterested with the discussion that was taking place meters away from him, an expression resembling that of boredom etched in his features as he enjoyed the shade provided by the Marula tree he rested beneath. Their voices and barks mingled together to form a rather infuriating symphony in Dagga's highly trained ears, but he managed to remain vigilant in his pursuit of leisure, a yawn slipping past his massive jaws.

(It wasn't made clear what animal was responsible for the humans' death, if it was even an animal at all, so i just suggested a herd of elephants. they're often poached for their tusks so it is a realistic possibility.)

Gladiator-7 years-Bluetick Coonhound-Packmember-Location: Waterhole-Mentions: Everyone

Gladiator choose to stay away from all of the arguing, deciding that he needed some time to think, he felt ashamed of himself, this was his first failed hunt since he was just a young pup, he growled when he noticed that the dogs got even louder, he barked loudly "Will you all stop, if we panic then we're just making it worse!" he said with his rought voice, he sat down with the rest of the dogs, he noticed Dagga under the shade of a Marula tree, he saw and the blood but he quickly turned away, he knew what the other dog did, but he would better stick with everyone rather than being alone and die, his eyes examining the faces of everyone, he growled at himself, but it was fully his master's fault for his own death, he knew it was dangerous doing this type of hunt but still did it anyway, he looked at the sky, his brown eyes full with boredness.

Ulysses was just as silent as Gladiator, though he didn't utter a word with the voices of the other dogs grew louder and louder. The scent of fear, irritation, and blood was heavy in the air and it had the youngest dog curling his lips back a bit. He didn't bother to think about his human, or the group of warthogs that had gutted him without fear, much like Yule who had killed one of them without fear. You couldn't show fear in this world after all, fear stopped you from doing things, getting things, and from advancing further. If a dog feared the prey he'd die. If a dog feared the sound of a gun he and his human would surely starve. If a dog feared death, well... Yule couldn't say much about that because that was something he feared himself. Which is why he had left when he did. Those hogs would have been quick to turn on him and he was not ready to die. Not now.
"The old hound is right you know," Yule rumbled out, voice almost like sandpaper. "Panicking will do us no good and neither will your shouting. If anything, it'll attract something looking for an easy meal and some of you... are currently easy meals. It's best if you all quiet the hell down and think for just a moment." He smacked his jaws together for a moment. "There's water, drink, cool off. Breathe. Collect your thoughts together, think, and then come back together and have everyone talk, one bloody mutt at a time."
Yule was young, but he wasn't dumb. His father and his grandfather had taught him well after all.

Imara | Female | Packmember | Doberman | Mentions: Everyone | Currently at the waterhole

Imara looked at Ulysses severely. Although he was bigger than her, Imara was sitting quietly, listening to everyone in silence, until she decided to step into the convo. She raised from her haunches and let out a soft bark. "We can't stay here doing nothing, either." She stated firmly, her olive eyes looking at everyone intensily, especially Yule.
"Unless y'all want to be.. Ah... Carrion food, maybe?" She added at the end, gaining a slightly deeper tone. "The master won't be with us anymore. We don't have his long branch with us,
so we're sort of indefense. We need to plan something right now.
"

The black furred Corso glanced over at Imara, head cocking to the side for a moment, but he grunted in agreement with her. "Best to leave to before nightfall, but we can't with our tails tucked between our legs right now. Best to drink up now and think of where to go. Or send out our best noses out to scout for safer areas. Don't wanna fall into lion territory after all." Or hyenas. They wouldn't make it. They were outnumbered and would be easily outsmarted.

Freya

"Where will we go though?" Freya added in, anxiety festering in the pit of her stomach. She let her paws shift back and forth in the silky dirt. "I don't want to go anywhere if we don't have protection." She could not help but think about the kinds of monsters that could be hiding on the wide open plains. The uncertainty of it all made her mind whir with all the bad situations they could run into. What if the group got killed like humans did?

Oh lord. The youngster snorted loudly. "We are our own protection. Like our ancestors before us, we must come together to protect each other. Of course, unlike our ancestors, we aren't... chasing off the weak and the old. So it's best to pull yourself together before you get us all killed or something. We have good noises, but not as good as the things that could crush our skulls in a single bite." It seemed like Yule wasn't here to chit-chat and make friends right now, but to get them moving. And yet here they were, not doing that. If he thought he stood a fifty percent chance or higher at making it out there on his own he might have left already, or had asked man killer beneath the Marula tree and the old hound to join him. After all, they weren't riddled with fear and anxiety and looked like they have experience on their paws. They would make a fine trio.

Gladiator-7 years-Bluetick Coonhound-Packmember-Location: Waterhole-Mentions: Everyone

Gladiator looked at Yule "He's right, we are hunting dog's for God's sake, I suppose we all were trained for survival since we were pups" he looked at Freya before speaking again "And the more we fear them, the more WE are prey and not them" he growled slightly, before looking at all of the dogs, he wasn't here to make friends, but he supposed he would have to put up with them if he wanted to survive, he knew that he wasn't the youngest dog in the pack, in fact it was quite the opposite, and a old dog like him couldn't survive by himself, but he didn't fear the thought, if anything it made him want to survive even more.

Freya

Freya pulled her lips back in a snarl, but let herself be calmed in the wake of Gladiator's words. "I just don't want to end up like the master," she grumbled.

Freya turned and paced a few paw steps away, her tail drooping, she did not want to start an argument so she moved near to the watering hole. She bent down to lap up mouthfuls of water to occupy her mouth and not let it be carried away again. Freya felt scared, she was almost trembling with tension, she needed to release this anxious energy somehow.

Leander

"I can scout ahead with others, if some wish to stay behind." Leander chimed in, shooting a glance at Freya. It was a dig towards the other, but the lanky youth didn't know how else to express his anxious energy. He kept his outward appearance cool and calm, not willing to show weakness, but still nervous about what the other dogs thought of him. He wanted to leave behind the death and carnage, to find a place to lay low. Not to mention he was being to feel the pangs of hunger. Not that he would actually admit it out loud.

Gladiator-7 years-Bluetick Coonhound-Packmember-Location: Waterhole-Mentions: Everyone

Gladiator shot a glanze at Freya "None of us want to end up like them, that why we must be strong that was their mistake, they thought their guns and us were all that was needed to hunt those beast's, and once they attacked, all I could smell was their fear" he looked at Leander and spoke once more "it would be a better idea if we all just left right now, but that is a good idea for those who do wish to stay back and aren't sure about our descitions yet" he shot a rare smile at Leander, he would grow up to be a good hunting dog if he survived, he looked back at the water hole and took a sip from it "It's better we get ready to leave this place, the scavengers will arive soon, and we won't be able to outnumber them"

Thor | Male | Packmember | Siberian Husky | Mentions: Everyone | Currently at the waterhole

Thor watched and listened from the outskirts of the group. He could feel the tension so thick he felt he could tear it with his teeth. He looked around watching to see if any animals were watching them. It made him anxious when he didn't know everything that was happening, not knowing if there was a predator lurking in the shadows or a tasty meal hidden in a bush.
He felt a fly land on him and he shook rattling his red collar it's light blue interior and shiny black round tag with a skull and cross bones made him stick out on the savanna like a sore thumb and he was acutely aware of this fact which made his fur stand on end.

He wondered what would happen now. Surely a human would find them and take them back? after all he didn't know how to take care of himself out here, the closest thing to hunting he had ever done was snapping at passing bugs. "We should look for passing humans, they will take us back." He said not sure if he said it loud enough since he didn't raise his voice up more than he usually did.

Gatsby-3-Duck Tolling Retriever

Gatsby sat by the watering hole calmly, taking a drink every few moments. Its not that he wasn't scared or worried, sure they would probably all die if they didn't agree on something and start moving. But he knew at least he wouldn't he have to survive on his own, none of these dogs looked stupid enough to truly think they could kill their own prey without any help in these lands.
Gatsby didn't mind much where the group decided to go, as long as they decided soon. All the dogs made perfect sense talking about how scavengers would show up and they would all be outnumbered, but they didn't seem that much closer to a decision. To Gatsby, it was easy to pick out the leading type dogs, he wondered which one would win.
The retriever was also used to the constant fear of the unknown, before he watched his master get slaughtered along with some of his stock, Gatsby was used to guard Goats from predators. He was thankful he at least knew some forms of defense.

"Passing humans?" Yule asked, almost dumbfounded by the statement. "Humans don't just pass by in this area. It's the dry season, no one wants to be out here and end up dying from lack of food, water, and from the heat, or else... things bigger than us looking for easy meals. Which is why we need to go moving soon. Send out the two best noses, have someone with some muscle and someone with good eyes to go with him to keep lookout and to protect them while they're busy while the others hunker down here by the water until the rest get back."

"Yule's right, no human will just pass here, and even if they do how do we know they will help us rathen than hurt us" Gladiator growled a little at the statement, of course someone would suggest that, he looked at his surroundings "We should leave soon just as Yule said, I can already smell those disgusting hyenas, even if they are far, they WILL attack us on sight once they arrive" he looked at the bodies of their master's, they wouldn't be here for too long, any scavenger would love a meal like that, Gladiator gadded slightly at the thought, but quickly looked at the group of dogs, wondering what they would do now.

In the midst of all the bickering, Dagga leaped from his resting place and stepped persistently into the circle of mutts. His muscles shifted under his silky pelt as he moved with a purposeful sort of grace. There was a way about him when he presented himself to the pack that commanded respect. Though he wasn't eager to take the lead, Dagga knew these dogs would be hopeless without him, and for some reason he sought it better to keep them alive, no matter how infuriating they might be.

Dagga licked the blood from his chops before speaking to the lot. "We have at least 8 hours until nightfall. That's when most predators are active on the savanna," The Corso explained in a confident, sultry voice. "If any of you have enough sense, you will heed my every command. Otherwise, you will perish." Dagga's tone was nonchalant as he faced the situation pragmatically. He was definitely a level-headed individual, and got right to the point. He addressed no one in particular, but he seemed to make steady eye contact with each dog in the vicinity as he spoke.

"We keep moving North until we find civilization. That is our best bet of survival. We take shelter as soon as it gets dark, and there will be no separation unless permitted by a pack leader. We stay together." Dagga ended his instructions with a growl. "Now," He started up again with a slightly less intimidating tone. "Does anyone have any questions before we begin heading out?"
