THE ROAD of LIFE
RP THREAD
Welcome to the roleplay thread. Your characters are played here. Enjoy. Here's a link for the OOC thread if you want to join. click me.

Guidelines:

1. The RP happens in the savannah. Something like the pridelands in TLK, but more dry.

2. The temperature is the average for any dog to basically survive, but at night, the temperature will go lower, especially in desert-like areas.

3. Once a IRL week, a character will be randomly picked to endure a survival challenge. Their living state (dead or alive) will depend entirely on what they have learned from their surroundings, and how well have they adapted.

4. If you get rebellious, prepare to be called out and scolded by a packmember who is superior or equal to you.

5. Pregnant and nursing females are kept away from the pack due to possible agressiveness caused by feeling threatened. While they're away, they don't go in hunts and are guarded by a packmember of their choosing.

6. All dogs share their food due to the need of equal strength among all members.

7. Hierarchy goes like this: 1. Leader 2. Commander 3. Packmembers & Mothers 4. Youth

- YEAR 1. MONTH 1. WEEK 1. (11 of September, 2017.)

Dagga's head lifted up when he came to a stop, his eyes squinting as he peered toward the setting sun. At least the heat wasn't as excruciating now that the daylight was dimming. The high temperatures really did a number on his black fur. Once again, Dagga's paws began to grace over the dusty terrain. He was going in the same general direction, but this time he was veering slightly to the left, toward a distant rock formation that jutted out of some rolling hills. He suspected that maybe the rocks would offer shelter for the night, but they were at least a half mile away, and couldn't say for sure if they would reach it before nightfall. Maybe if they kept moving at a good pace..

He looked over his shoulder to see Lynch padding a few feet behind. He silently noted his appearance, and the matted looking coat he sported, before turning his meticulous gaze to the front again. He was familiarized with the male's breed, and worked side by side with the wiry haired dogs. His great grandfather was the first Italian Mastiff to aid in WW2, and he worked alongside a similar schnauzer named Monty that he often told tales about to a younger Dagga. He wondered if Lynch was one of old Monty's descendants.

He didn't dwell too much on the thought, however, because his attention got drawn toward a loud blaring hum that began over the savanna. Dagga would have stopped, but he knew he couldn't afford to waste anymore time as the sun was setting fast. Instead, he attempted to peer overhead as he padded along, and what he spotted made his jaws part. He discovered that it was an airplane that was to blame for the loud noise, its shadow cascading over the two dogs for a moment as it passed by. It was flying unusually low. Dagga knew Lynch had to had seen it too, but he looked over at the German dog for confirmation that he wasn't hallucinating, slowing his pace only a tad.

"Thank you Halo, now all of you, if you don't want to die to the lions or hyenas, then follow me" The old dog looked thankfully at Halo and nodded to her, then he looked towards the direction where the cave was settled and started to walk towards it, he looked back one more time to assure than everyone was following.

|Halo|Female|2|Rhodesian Ridgie|Mentions: (indirectly) Everyone|Waterhole - Savannah|
With her tail raised, signalling the end of the discussion, the she-dog was quite happy to follow the stouter, more experienced dog. She caught up to him in a few short bounds, trotting beside him, but slightly behind to let him lead. The rusty brown Rhodesian sniffed, floppy ears perked up as much as they were able, scanning the rather flat, yet still rugged, terrain scrutinisingly. Stretching the lanky frame, she tried to keep her lengthy strides shorter to match the rest of the pack.

{I'm just gonna join in 'cause idk where else or what else to do whatever if that's okay....}

She was alone. Abandoned. Left to fend for herself...

And she could not be more ecstatic! The elated pup happily trotted through farther than she'd ever be allowed, sniffing things as she passed, but now darkness was encroaching. Amarina had to do SOMETHING, anything! She couldn't just continue to wander--the ignorant pup knew at least that much, thank goodness--aimlessly, she had to find a decent place to rest. As the youngster trudged along, she began to hear a distant buzzing. Her head tilted up, only to discover some sort of giant metal bird soaring the skies rather low. It was enormous and loud and, naturally, terrified the fur off Amarina's pelt. With a loud yelp dripping of fear, the puppy scrambled off in an unknown direction blindly, yet no matter where she went she still heard it. Perhaps it was her ears deceiving her, or just in her head, but it seemed to be gaining on her. The pup yowled as she was abruptly stopped, kicking up dust, after running into some large, dark dog(most likely literally, unless the dog had sharp reflexes). She had to tilt her head up to look at him. Some gruff-looking male who was looking opposite of Amarina's direction, and by the smell of it, he might not be alone. The whimpering puppy cowered before the dogs--if they stood there to look at her--before saying anything. If they didn't snarl, she'd probably inquire with a tilt of her small head: "Who are you?" And if they did snarl?

...well, she'd probably (almost) fearlessly ask anyway.

Indie| Female | 3 years | Bi | Saluki | Mentions: Open

A soft breeze blew through her fur, giving her a slight shiver despite the hot weather. She had been asleep under a low branch for some time, but it was now time for her to move on. She didn't want to over stay in this land. The scent of other dogs was strong, yet she had no idea what direction it was coming from. Never the less she sauntered off in hopes to find the pack that lived in this area. But once she did find what she was looking for she had no idea how she or they would react.

Thor | Male | Packmember | Siberian Husky | Mentions: Gladiator, Imara, Dagga (indirectly) | Currently at the waterhole
"It doesn't matter what you think. If you don't want to listen to me then don't make your own pack and your own way." He told her. "My age is none of your concern, in my few years I've gained more wit than you have in the tip of your tail. All my age means is I'll be around a while." He said simply before turning around to follow Gladiator.
As night slowly fell he cold feel a slight chill in the air, he would be thankful for the warmth that his pack mates would provide. Up ahead he could see a large mound of rocks with a cave, he could smell the stale scent of boar but they seemed to have left hours ago. He sped up to match pace with Gladiator. "Is this the cave?" He whispered leaning in. He sure hopes it was, it was close and his paws were growing weary from all the pacing and walking he had done since their master died. Although his master was a tough man he loved the brute he was good to them and always fed them well and he took the on adventures with him and Thor loved that.
He looked seeing Dagga veering away from the group obviously not listening to what he himself said only hours ago about safety in numbers. It wasn't like Thor cared what happened to the mongrel he'd actually be glad if he was torn apart by a lion or a hyena.

Gladiator-7 years-Bluetick Coonhound-Packmember-Location: Savanah, Waterhole-Mentions: Thor

"Indeed it is" he told Thor before looking at the cave, it was a place where they could rest for the night, and possibly until they found a permanent home, he looked at Thor as if asking for the aproval of the much younger dog, Gladiator was already starting to treat Thor as his alpha, and nothing would change that.

Lynch | Giant Schnauzer | Male | Mentions: Dagga, Amaria |

The ground below his paws was familiar to him, the warmth of it a slight bit of comfort. He’d been prowling the Savannah since he was still a wet behind the ears pup. It was vast, so much bigger than any of them could ever be. The wide-open space seemed to be getting claustrophobic, though as day turned to night, forcing him to be impossibly more on alert.
He could see the rocks Dagga was steering them towards, looming up in the distance. They would likely provide them with a place to spend the night, safer than strolling out in the open. With the promise of shelter on the horizon, he felt a touch more energetic. Not hopeful, but a bit more optimistic.
He didn’t register the noise at first, the deep sound blending into the cacophony of sounds around them. But the sound continued to grow, washing over every other sound. He looked skyward, head cocked to one hone in better on the source of the sound. He didn’t need to search for long. The plane flew low, lower than it maybe should have been. The only thing that mattered though, was that the plane must be filled with humans, and he wanted to do nothing more to bark and howl to get their attention. A bark formed in his chest, a deep rumble, but he stopped himself. What were the odds he would be heard over the roaring of the engines? And who was to say that it wouldn’t draw unwanted attention to themselves from something other than the humans in the plane.
He looked to Dagga, having only stopped for a moment, trotting to catch up. He didn’t notice the small pup barreling in their direction, only the scent of another dog that had a growl forming in his maw. One, though, he saw to source of the smell, he couldn’t help but stop himself. The poor thing had run directly into Dagga, and the size difference was startling. He stepped forward slowly, as not to startle the pup, but left whatever talking was to be done to Dagga. He had no idea what to say, and quickly pushed away the thought that it may be quite amusing to see the other male handle the situation, whatever the outcome.

Pharaoh | Doberman | Female | Mentions: Everyone, indirectly. |

Later, Pharaoh would blame her silence and complacency on shock. She had been very attached to her human, having been raised by the kind man, as had her family before her. She was listless, weariness etched into her slim face and sorrow written in her eyes. It would be the only time she would show such emotion. She didn’t argue with the rest of the dogs, instead sitting in the background. She followed along with them to this shelter that they had found, staying to the back of the pack.

With his head veered back to flash a sardonically amused grin at the other male, he was as unaware of the incoming pup's presence as she was with his. It seemed Lynch realized a little too late that his bark was utterly fruitless, as the roar of the plane made any other sounds on the savanna but a faint whisper for a brief moment. Dagga could have very well let out a delighted little chuckle at Lynch's efforts, but instead was interrupted by the sensation of something soft and fluffy come into sharp contact with his front legs. The corso seemed mildly startled as he peered down to see what it was, only to discover, with much more bewilderment than beforehand, that it was a youngster!

She was a curious specimen, as Dagga had never come to approach such a strikingly beautiful breed and he didn't even have the knowledge of what she may have in her. Although, he definitely picked up the sharp scent of Shepard. He wondered to himself what the runt was doing out here all alone, but he finally came to the assumption that she may have just wandered away from the pack back at the waterhole. It wasn't too far fetched, except for the fact that she was bounding along from the opposite direction of the group, but he didn't really have the capacity to care all that much about her origin. Instead, he was much rather contemplating on what he should do with it. He wasn't much of a nurturing figure, and definitely never had any experience with whatever entailed caring for puppies. He was one himself once, but he didn't really remember much from his puppyhood. So, with befuddlement etched in his features, Dagga turned to give Lynch an afflicted look.

"What.." He began, sounding irritated and stern, which was innate to his speech pattern, but paused to recollect his thoughts. Glancing down at the smallish dog, Dagga only proceeded to look even more confused, his gaze shooting back to the other male. It seemed this was one of the few situations that the Corso had little experience in, as it was clear in his mannerisms that he expected Lynch to have a better clue.

Imara | Female | Packmate | Doberman| Mentions: Thor, Dagga (Indirectly) | Currently at the Cave

She was tired. And she was done with all this... bullshit that Thor was spitting at her. Thor had to get off his high horse or he would drive the group to a terrible ending. "My thoughts don't matter? Good god! Now the boy is playing dictator it seems. Ugh."
For now, she just followed the group from behind, on a fast, yet relaxed walking pace. Her tail was so-so high, demonstrating signs of dominance, yet not enough to be held as a leader. For now, she would let Thor play around with his, uh.. "throne".
She inspectioned the cave, insecure of being here. The pack would be no match for any big group of predators, just another reason why she felt uneasy there. It was like an alley with no escape. If they were ambushed, they would have no place to go, and any attempts at escaping would probably be failed or achieved, with some losses. A cave was a really bad idea if it was big enough for a good amount of normal-sized animals could enter. She would be more comfortable on a tunnel or straight out in the open. At least in the open they'd have more escape routes than in a cave. She had to find herself a spot close to everyone to gain some trust, though. Nobody would be in favour of the loner that sits far away from the group in their sleep. "That reminds me of someone." She thought, looking outside in silence.
She chose a spot in a corner of the cave, yet close enough to the entrance to have a quick leave if needed. She layed down on the ground, and extended both her hind legs to her side, so she could rest her tired muscles for once on that god forsaken day.

Amarina wanted to keep whimpering but stopped her whining, deciding better of it. The pup puffed out her chest and tried to look intimidating, obviously to no avail, for even at her stance of full height she needed to tilt her head far up to meet the stranger's glare. She sniffed. "I'll ask only ONCE, listen up!" She barked demandingly, "Who are you two? Your names are..?" The puppy's wet nose twitched as she intently stared at them, passing her tongue over her chops once. She took the chance to glance at the other dog, who seemed uncertain what to do, similarly to the darker one. Why were they so perplexed? The pup scoffed, seldom giving either of them a chance to properly respond, "What? Did you two never see a puppy before?" She inquired as innocently as possible, tilting her head and perking her ears, yet she seemed somewhat snobby and absolutely disdainful. Was she mocking them, perhaps?

Amarina did, however, think twice on her foolish yet playful words; she looked each of them in the eye...and the menacing jaws, sharp teeth, large paws and terrifying size. Her ears flattened, yet she kept her glassy-eyed gaze with the dogs. She licked her nose thoughtfully. They didn't seem to have an intent to hurt her--who would hurt a mere youngster? Yet, she grew weary.

Ah, well. There was probably nothing to worry about! She was sure she could stand up to the potential bullies.

Lynch | Giant Schnauzer | Male | Mentions: Dagga, Amarina |

It was terribly hard to hold back a bout of laughter, just barely swallowing it back. His eyes held a glint of amusement, though as he stepped toward the pup, attempting to make himself small, a feat all its own for the giant. Before he managed to get a word out, the girl spoke.
Again, he was forced to hold back his mirth. She had a lot of spirit, he’d grant her that. And quite a pretty little thing she was. He’s able to recall a time where he met a similar looking dog, with just ans much energy and spirit. “My name is Lynch.” He said calmly, after her outburst had ended, “This is Dagga.” He spoke slowly, and softly, a stark contrast from his usually quite steely tone. “It’s not that we’ve never seen a pup before, but you must understand that we had not been expecting one to quite literally run into us, in the middle of nowhere.” He didn’t recall seeing her with the pack, but it was quite possible he had overlooked her. “What is your name?
He would freely admit, he had no idea what caring for a small puppy entailed, or even if the pup was very young, but he knew that that couldn’t leave her there. She’d become lion chow within hours. He waited for her to answer, before speaking again. “If we want any chance at making it to shelter at a decent time, we very much need to keep moving. I trust you can keep up, little one?”

Pharaoh | Doberman | Female | Mentions: |

She found a place in the cave, careful to keep close to the entrance. All she wanted to do was sleep away the memories of the day, but she knew it would be impossible. Instead, she lay there, peeking out of the mouth of the cave and up at the vast expanse of stars. She would curse herself in the morning for being so complacent, but it would do for the night. She let her head rest on her paws, sighing and shutting her eyes.

A stunned Dagga let out a snort of bewilderment. "It talks?!" He blurted, not expecting the baby animal to have any sort of lingual capabilities. It was clear he had the wrong assumption that all puppies between 0 and 11 months were nothing but babbling, slobbering, food mongers. He shut his trap, turning his head to peer at Lynch, watching him respond effortlessly to Amarina. It was the first time he heard the dog vocalize himself, and he noted how pleasant and doting his voice sounded. But, that might've just been because he didn't want to frighten the pup.

Speaking of the runt, Dagga was moderately astounded with her presumptuous demeanor. Nonetheless, it very much impressed the corso that a measly little ball of fur could possess such a mouth. Her habits mirrored his own idiosyncrasy in a way, and when Lynch suggested that Amarina tag along, he did not make an effort to protest. Instead, the schnauzer's words abruptly reminded Dagga that they had someplace to be before sundown.

"We wont be toddling around waiting for you if you can't, uh...kid." Dagga didn't seem too intent on learning the puppy's name, as he didn't ask. "So, keep that in mind." The corso was visibly distracted as he spoke, his gaze darting about the darkening terrain. Then, without another word, Dagga continued forward with long strides of his muscly legs, confident that the two would follow suit.

Misha's body shaked, while those monstar attacked Master she ran away, but once she came back she noticed that everyone was gone, her nose twiched as she lifter her head, he nose searching for any familiar smell, but they were faint, she let out a small howl, no too loud to attract any predators, but loud enought to be heard by other dogs, she hoped that someone would hear.
