I can't be the only one who's in love with Nirah's ears, right? Well we have foldie ears, so why not pointy ears? That is all... a simple, non-lethal, not-too-rare, just-for-fun mutation.

Or perhaps it could be a special mutation? Something only breedable in October? That might be asking for too much though. <-- ignore this, this idea has been scrapped, lol.

A few players have also suggested making this a MoD applicator exclusive to October

Thoughts? Comments?

Here are some mock-ups, a nice visual representation, for how the ears might looks:

@River; personally I like Xy's "elongated ears" name suggestion, but I'm not stuck on any one particular name.

@Fortmax; I completely understand. I personally don't think long ears are too fantasy (horns and wings and things like that definately are) but that's all personal preference. Thank you for your opinion. :)

Bobcats and lynx have somewhat elongated ears, compared to other felines. It's not that much stretch of the imagination to have a lion born with elongated ears, same as the folded ears mutation

Bobcats and Lynx aren't big cats. Bobcats and Lynx also live in cold climates. :/

@formax

I was really surprised to read that, so I looked it up. They are actually more extended in temperate to hot climates, but if you are more comfortable with something closer to lion's actual habitat, we have caracals and servals, too. I know they aren't big cats, but seeing how we have many other things that don't belong in big cats either, that's no reason to say elongated ears can't be a thing, I think.

I support with so much enthusiasm!! his ears are so cute and i would love a king with pointy ears. and i understand why some might not find it desireable but others do. and dwarfism/primal is unrealistic @fortmax so i dont see why complain. i think they would be cute and a good idea for october event lure.

Wow, ok, this is infuriating. Servals aren't big cats, caracals aren't big cats, why can't this just be a decor like the other manticore decors? Seriously! It fits the algorithim of those perfectly- you have horns, tail, all the manticore parts, why not just make it a decor!

Overgrown fur and lioness manes, those can happen. Dwarfism, less common, but it can happen. All of the other ones can actually happen. Cats with 'elongated ears' are either the result of excessive in-breeding, or it's from a physical injury. I get that people like Nirah, but why change the whole formula of mutations just for pointy ears??

And to the people responding to me about Primal, Primal is based off of prehistoric big cats and large felids. Lion ancestors. This isn't based off of reality.

@fort

perhaps make your own suggestion about it being a decor? see if they agree with that better than a mutation? because as is it seems like you like the idea...just not how itd be implemented? so tweak it and make your own :D

as for the statement at hand it is still possible be it from inbreeding or not were as Primal isnt actually...yes its based on ancestors but thats not realistic either so as long as it doesnt get too far fetched(wings, horns, hooves, etc) i think it is a great suggestion! ^.^ and i agree it would be better on bases than a decor (i do totally see your argument though fort :))

I wouldn't ever use it, so I don't want to make my own suggestion. I already have a lot of suggestions right now that I want to get attention more than that.

I can't find any examples of this occuring in either big or small cats. Dwarfism, you can find in big cats with Pumapards, and in small cats through inbreeding. Primal, again, I can pull up images of ancient Felids and have them realistically match-up to Primal (I actually have a suggestion for Primal variations based directly off of extinct ancient felids). I cannot separate this in terms of fantasy from things like you mentioned, horns/hooves/etc.

I just don't understand why it isn't being suggested as a decor. Manticore Tail isn't being suggested as a mutation because that could obviously never happen; I fail to see how this is different. Animal genetics are a deep passion to me, and I'm basing my career around that- I get heated over this stuff.

because they want it to be a mutation not a decor ^.^ you dont have to agree with it... but its the reality

and i know primals are based off ancient cats...but its not realistic...theyre all extinct thus a mutation to happen is not realistic so i guess i just fail to see how overgrown ears is different?

and animals in general are a massive passion of mine im going to college for zoology so i understand you want it as realistic as possible...but then there would be a very limited number of bases and mutations :) and primals certainly wouldnt exist and plenty of the mutations would prove fatal...thats just how i see it...if that make any sense?

I'm also a zoology student.

You can look at my king, his markings, his base, etc and tell that I don't mind unrealistic markings. There are a LOT of untapped, amazing, crazy real-world mutations, even if they're stuff that only typically exists in humans, but isn't necessarily cancelled out when applied to large felines (like, ok, hypermobile joints- typically seen in people, but lions DO have joints!). I feel like that's what should be the focus here. The real world provides us with a lot of potential for mutations, and this feels, again, like it would be more suited to a decor.

Also, I still don't really see how this would be applied. If it's October-themed, can it only be bred in October? How would coding that in with Lion Scrotum work, without causing massive bugs for other mutation breeders? Is it a marking applicator, and if so, does it end up with a 10,000+ lion boom of ears like Primal ended up as?

The fact that it only exists in small cats doesn't seem like a deal-breaker to me. I mean we have feline 7 I believe it is, which is just a classic tabby stripe pattern. Yes, markings and patterns are different classes, but it seems feasible to me.

but the issue with the decor is it would match a select few bases...like the maned elbows or ear tufts...i love them but cant use them cause they dont match my kings(mostly side king since my mains a Smilus)

Xy said the october only would be impossible in hs post ^.^ so it most likely be a breedable one like Poly
