I've had this happen to me as well; was unable to grab screenshots.

My lion flirted successfully, and it said I got one heart shell, but it wasn't actually added to the total.

This happens to me when an outgoing Flirt isn’t noticed by the user. When the 15 minutes is up it’ll tell me I got X amount of HS (typically only 1 but over time 1 can turn into many) but my count will not increase. Again, like the others here, I have no screenshot to back it up but I will try to catch it.

From what I can tell, the heart shell is not visibly awarded when you receive that message. It is only after you leave (or reload) the page that the counter updates. I would recommend keeping track of your heart shells before you go to the event page, then when you receive that message (they should stay the same), and then refresh the page (they should now show the updated amount).

I remember seeing reports about this pop up last year, and seeing the same result.

I have noticed this as well. Most will count after the HS is given and all I’ll need to do is go to a different page or, as you stated, refresh. But there were times where I’d get no change in the count. For example, I’d send out a Flirt, then check my HS count before the user being Flirted reacts (to pull a number, let’s say it’s 73). I’d go about my business, swap accounts, etc. Come back and see my count is still at 73. Go to the event page and see I’m rewarded with 1 HS. I’d then either go to a different page, refresh or send out a new Flirt and my count would still remain at 73.

Of course I could very well be wrong, though I’ve been trying hard to keep track.

And it just happened to me again on both accounts. I watched the HS count closely this time. My count was 34 HS before, during and after the Flirt was sent out and I wasn’t granted the HS it said I was given.

For sake of trying to track this down, I would recommend keeping a record of screenshots.

* one before you send a flirt
* one right before you go to check the flirt via the Event page
* one when you visit the event page
* one after you refresh the page.

In all of my testing I have not experienced the issue. Having looked through the code, I haven't found anywhere that states it gives heart shells without actually awarding them.

Ok, so I've been watching this to see if I could recreate it, and the only time I've ever had any issue is in the following scenario: when you send a flirt, the other player attempts to slap you, but that slap attempt is unsuccessful. In that instance you DO still get the +1HS, but the way it is displayed is somewhat misleading/confusing. That's the only thing I can think could be causing people to think they're missing HS? I've watched my HS count in literally every scenario I can think of and can't find any other problem, though that's only my own experience of course!

But in case it helps at all, this is the step-by-step with screenshots for what I think could be causing confusion in the flirt+failed slap situation. Apologies this is so long, but it's complicated to experience (hence the possible confusion...), let alone to explain! Screenshots all include LD time and HS count to show they're from the same flirt session:

Step 1: send flirt

Step 2: other player attempts to slap but is unsuccessful, you have +1 HS added to your total at this stage

Step 3: if you go to the aphrodisia page again during that 15 minute cooldown text correctly says to enjoy the rest of your flirt time

Step 4: 15 minute cooldown is over so you can send another flirt. The text is now just generic, saying your attempt was successful, you gained 1 heart shell



^ and that text is technically correct, but only in the past tense. You don't get another one at the moment when you visit the aphrodisia page. So if the slap failed ages ago but you then didn't visit the page again after the cooldown was over for several minutes/hours/days it's pretty confusing because you think you should be getting something right then, when in fact you don't. Especially because that text is the same as in the case where your flirt was just ordinarily successful (i.e. the other player didn't fail because they never slapped at all), but in that scenario contrastingly you only get the +1HS when you go to the aphrodisia page - or rather on the next page load.

See screenshots with HS count below from a slightly earlier example I did of that particular outcome (flirt+no slap), showing it works as expected, but with text underlined that's exactly the same as in step 4 of the other example:

So in both cases the text say the exact same thing after the fact, but the outcome of when you actually get the HS is different. If you see what I mean??!

I haven't found any other discrepancy at all - other than the usual need to wait for explore to reload to correctly add HS from some encounters, but that's expected and not buggy. Haven't found any explore encounters that aren't awarding HS amounts as per the wiki.

This very well could be where the confusion is coming from. I too have been trying to follow it closely. While most of the time I have been able to see when my HS have been added, there have been a few holes. This particular instance you’ve stated is one thing I’ve seen and yes, it can be very confusing. Perhaps, if there could be some way to alter this, it’d help to avoid future confusion seems this seems to be a yearly thing.

Except for the fact I had zero heart shells unpon roll over this morning and still didn’t receive any. I have a screen recording to prove this for myself.

It wouldn’t have been a heartshell that I received before signing off last night because my last transfer was from an hour or so before I went to bed.
