1. WE NEED CHANGE
The state the game is at about inbreeding is rather deplorable... Even people that are into having 'clean' lions can't agree to what clean means. Making it a feature in the game would help this talk die down and unite most people on what should be considered bad. There will always be radicals... but apeasing most is better than annoying all.

However: there has been plenty discussions on how the devs should change things and at this point I just don't see it happening. what I'm here to talk about it how leaving it for the community to decide how to deal with has led to a pretty bad point that we are in right now.

Let me clarify what I mean.

2. WHERE DO WE DRAW THE LINE?

Having a clean line is not an easy task... specially if you don't have a short number of genations. Is a G24 less clean than a G2? No, but they are harder to keep track of who to breed with. To a clean breeder, it's just easier to discard them.

What about NCL's and Chased lionesses? Stock for breeding: they don't have a past, so use them and discard them. Sometimes lionesses and cubs are even chased for the slim hope of coming back as a chased lioness. Cuz then, only then, would they have a value.

Does that not seems... weird? Doesn't it leave a weird taste in your mouth? Inbreeding is not cool, sure. But to what point?

It also leaves a bad taste in the mouth that a lion can't be considered clean if there is any instance of inbreeding ever in their line. In real life, something can always be cleaned up later on with the right crossbreeding. Inbreeding is even used in efforts osf conservation, with the idea that, once there is enough organisms, crossbreeding will fix everything that is needed to.

So what if this lion had an inbreed ancestral 10 generations before? Does it make all does 10 generations of crossbreeding any less important? Do you guys not know how DNA work?

This line is DIRTY, so it can't ever be clean again.

Do you see what it sounds like? Do I have to spell it out?

3. MORALITY

People that have clean lions feel moraly superior. After all, they took the care to not inbreed their lions. But does the ends justify the means?

Do I want to inbreed my lions? No. But there is a limit. I'd be ashamed if I ever have to use NCL or chased just to "clean a line".

4. SO WHAT DO WE HAVE?

I don't know... When I started writing this, I did not care that much about this, I hadn't stopped to really think about it... To some, it may seem stupid to overanalyze a random online game, but the way this has been handled, by all sides, has left a bad taste in my mouth.

At this point, clean and dirty kinda feel derogatory to me. Should you be prideful of having an inbred lion? No. But I am just not sure about where the line is drawn.

Honestly, the way I see it, both "clean" and "dirty" breeding is equally valid. Everyone plays the game differently, which makes things nice. Some people might try to challenge themselves to certain things, others have lineage, color, or marking preferences. No one's play-style should be insulted, as it is up to you how you want to play. As for me? I don't care one way or the other. I have recently come back from an extremely long hiatus and I am working on breeding things I think are pretty; I couldn't care less whether they're inbred or not, as long as I think they look nice enough. Regarding terms: I don't think "dirty" or "clean" are rude or derogatory in any way. Sure, inbred lions could be referred to as "inbred," "impure," et cetera- and honestly, someone would think it's derogatory, rather than just a way for people to differentiate between inbred and not inbred. Again though, it's just a player preference- don't like your lions called dirty? Come up with a word you like and use it instead! I'm not being mean or trying to sound sarcastic in any way, but unfortunately, the typed word can be taken that way- I'm just trying to state that you can come up and use your own terminology for your own lions, if you wanted to. ^.^

I'm new to Lioden, but I've played a few different breeding simulators in the past, and I've never given a damn about clean vs. unclean myself. In every single one of these games that I've played, I've only cared about aesthetics. I totally get why people would challenge themselves to only breed clean, but I 100% do not get why people make comments like "I hate dirty breeders". Like, aren't most of us adults? Why is anyone giving a shit so much about what other people are doing in the game? As long as they aren't directly affecting your ability to enjoy the game, just stay in your own lane. Not trying to be rude at all, that's just how I feel. Like, I have a job and a kid and bills to pay, I get on Lioden to have a fun little hobby, nobody should be taking it this seriously lol

I’ve been playing Lioden since 2017, I used to dirty breed but later on switched to clean breeding for the challenge. I still dirty breed but that’s on my side account for lions I just don’t have the heart to chase/kill. I have noticed the switch up of people now leaning more towards clean breeding but it’s become more available to all players. There’s lots of g1 lions for sale at decently affordable prices so anyone could take on the task. It’s also a bit more rewarding when you find the right stud and finally get a nice clean litter of pretty cubs.

Either way the only thing that kinda sucks is that dirty lions do go for a little less but not enough to break the market. My suggestion to all players is to have a clean stud and a dirty stud to appeal to both ^^

Also while I would decline most “dirty” lionesses for breeding projects I’m not an asshole about it. There’s never a need to be disrespectful over pixel after all

Since we're talking about clean lions, Ive noticed that a few of my lions have the statement "this lion has x instances of possible inbreeding" on their heritage page. Is this foolproof? Will a lion definitely have this statement if it is inbred, and if it doesn't have that statement does that mean it has no inbreeding in it's heritage at all?
