We have some good news everyone! In the litter that was born today, I got my first two marked cubs of this project!
She has white underfelt in slot ten and Onyx domino in slot seven, along with red countershaded base

Currently, I think my best course of action here would be to sex-change her, apply one of the base apps that are in the same group as fiery (either ancestral body, astral fire, fluffness of flamingo, scent of fuchsia, or vestige of seth) I would also remove the conflicting markings in slots three and four.

The only problem with this plan is the cost: 10 gb to retire my side king, 1 gb to sex change, cheapest base app of the ones listed above for 9 gb (astral fire), and removing the two markings for 2 gb. So overall, it would cost 22 gb to do this, just to get a lion with two marks and the correct base category as my king.

So what do you guys think?

EDIT: I really think that if I do king her, I won't change her base, as I can worry about that later on in the project, and it would knock off half of the price

I agree with kinging and not bothering with the base changer- it doesnt really matter this early on, so i'd just focus on the markings and other traits if i were you :o

Dont forget to age up your side king with the april event spring, if u havent already. maybe that can save u the 10 gb cost if hes less than 2 years away from retiring naturally?

all in all having a decent project king feels super nice to get the ball really rolling so i'd say go for it!

Okay, thank you all! I think that I'll just king without the base, as was suggested. I'll be able to buy some good base changers in upcoming months anyway and it'll save me a lot of money. Sadly, my side king is still in his middle years, even with being aged up naturally. However, I do have an egg yolk deal that should be going through today, and if it does, I'll have more than enough to king the cub.

If/when I do king them, I'll be sure to link them here too. Excited that I've finally made some progress with this project after nearly a month!

Some more really big news for everyone! But first, the first project king has been kinged for a couple of days now.
https://www.lioden.com/lion.php?mid=429078 Everyone meet Buzzkill Malyen the first! He's already produced three really good cubs, which we'll get to in a second. He'll probably only be king for another thirty days or so, depending on what cubs are born.

Now, we've hit another huge milestone in our project:
The first triple marked cubs were born today on my side account!

Both have feline 6 ginger, onyx domino, and white underfelt. They both have red countershaded bases, however, the male has all of the right base genetics except for rarity. I'm super excited to get not only on, but two triple marked cubs. However, this is where things get difficult:

The three remaining markings I have to get on the lions is white lace, dim red, and onyx crackle.
-However, there are no studs in game with white lace in the correct slot, and I only have two lionesses with it in my pride currently.
-There are also no studs with dim red in slot 3, and I only have one lioness with that marking.
-The last marking, onyx crackle, will be a little easier to get though. There are eight active studs with that marking and I have three lionesses with that marking, so I don't think it will be too difficult to get.

One more thing before I'm done- this is the girl that gave birth to the latest three marked cubs

She was a chased I purchased from another player, and the only lion I originally had with feline 6 ginger, one of the rarest markings of this project. She also had the fiery base and white underfelt marking. Over her two heats, she gave birth to four cubs, all having at least two markings for the project. Because of her, the feline 6 marking was remarkably easy to get on multiple lions.

Where am I going with this? I think she deserves a name and some decoration. Go crazy with name recommendations!
